2K Beats
Formed in 1992, the trio from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is known for their unique, "sloppy", and "laid back" blues sound that encompasses the sound/production of classic R&B and hip-hop artists. The group is comprised of Garrett Dutton as G. Love (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Jimmie Prescott as Jimi Jazz (string bass), and Jeffrey Clemens as Houseman (drums).
Originally a duo, they released their self titled debut album in 1994. On the strength of the single "Cold Beverage", the album nearly went gold. Trying to capitalize on the success of the album, the group toured heavily. Since then, the trio has released seven more albums and continue to display their wide-ranging influences, incorporating hip-hop, funk, psychedelica, blues, and soul in equal and ambitious measure.
