Technical Concerns

Issues Resolved in the Patch Update
If you are having any of the issues below, please connect your console online (get a free XBOX Live Silver account) and get the newest game update or for PC, download it here: http://www.2ksports.com/downloads/new/mlb2k9/34. The following issues were resolved with the patch update:
Online League Sliders get reset after the first game and do not work again from there, Draft Leagues have a mistake where position players are forced to become a starter and you may lose a top pick for this, Trades on XBOX Live can only be 1 for AI Batting aggression/Inside Edge Broken, Player editing on all teams, Base running/pick people off, Fielders slowness towards ball, missed fly balls, too many home runs, late game crashes, all the fielders are the same, 1st baseman coming off the bag, pickoffs too easy

Wireless Controllers on PC/PC Patch
If you download the PC patch, you will be able to set-up a wireless XBOX 360 controller for your PC, along with all the changes from the console patch. Here is the link for the patch: http://www.2ksports.com/downloads/new/mlb2k9/34. To view more details about the PC Patch, click here: http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213061.

Franchise Freezing
Make sure your game is the most up-to-date version. To do so, please connect your console online (get a free XBOX Live Silver account) and get the newest game update or for PC, download it here: http://www.2ksports.com/downloads/new/mlb2k9/34. If that does not solve your issue, please e-mail mailto:customerservice@2ksports.com with full details on your issue. This would include game, teams, the traded players, and if you have edited any players (and the amount of edits). Please make sure to delete your cache and save files if possible.

Classic Pitching
To turn classic pitching on, you go into controller set-up options menu, left trigger to select pitching, left bumper to select classic. To be successful, you hold the button of the pitch you want. The yellow circle expands for a while (controller vibrates), and then shrinks. As it shrinks, let go and press the pitching button again to release it well at its smallest point.

Disguising Pitch Location in Head to Head
Press RT to Lock Pitch Location and disguise pitch location to your opponent. If you go to Options->Controller Set-Up, you can see all Pitching controls.

Auto-Field
There is no option to toggle this. However, if you don't move your control stick, it will go towards the ball automatically. You just have to finish the motion to catch the ball.

Editing Batting Styles
It is not possible to do in the release version of the game.

Living Rosters Not Updating When Player is First Brought Up
Living Rosters allow us to make the characters as close to their real life representation as possible. Please allow the start of the season for players with little to no major league experience before there model gets in the game due to MLBPA restrictions. Until that time, they are not able to accurately represent their real life counterparts whatsoever until being passed through the MLBPA.

Lack of Accurate Player Models / No Living Rosters – PS2/Wii SKU
Please know that we can not make changes to the PS2/Wii version on any character without a roster update. PS2/Wii does not have living rosters so the characters will not be up to date until a future roster update. These systems will not get a roster update, so salaries, player models, etc. are is on these systems.

Changing/Viewing Keys on PC SKU
If you go into the Options -> Control Setup menu, the B(x) and keyboard equivalent are all defined. The user can even change them to suit his/her needs.

Pitch Variety Multiplayer – Wii SKU
It works just like in single player but the pitch types don't light up when you select them. So if I have a 12-6 Curve that I would have to push DOWN to select in single player, I still have to press DOWN in multiplayer. The difference is that in Single Player when you press DOWN the 12/6 curve pitch graphic moves up so that you know you selected it. In multiplayer you're still selecting a 12/6 curve when you press DOWN, but the graphic doesn't move. If it did move then the other player would know which pitch you were throwing.

Incorrect Batting Records (Barry Bonds)
Barry Bonds is one of the few players in MLB that owns the rights to his name and, therefore, he can not be listed as a record holder by name.

Difficulty Earning Achievements
Some achievements are not possible with custom difficulty settings. Please try to earn achievements with set difficulty.

Line-up Changing After Editing (Wii)
The roster must be saved before going into a game if you want your line-up changes to be translated. There is no auto-save on rosters.

10- Game Season after Season One (Wii)
As a workaround for the issue you have encountered with your franchise, please do the following:
- From the main menu select 'Game modes', select 'Franchise'.
- Select your settings and team.
- From the menu system select 'My 2K9', 'Save/Load' and load your previous franchise.
This will load your current save with the correct number of games.

Disguised Pitching Multi-Player (Wii)
It works just like in single player but the pitch types don't light up when you pitch.

Total Control Pitching
A pitch is a combination of R stick movements:
1. In the “hold” phase, hold the R stick until the yellow circle expands completely. The length of the hold determines the strength or movement on a pitch.
2. The “Gesture” phase is the second movement which will determine the accuracy of the pitch.

You can press the LB button to show/hide the available pitchers for your current pitcher. Shaking off a pitcher: One each pitch, the catcher will call for a pitch in a specific location. To shake him off, simply move the pitch cursor to a new location and press the A button. Pitching to an area the catcher is not prepared for increases the risk of a passes ball. Release Timing: With Release Timing set to on, you will have to time the release of the R stick after the “Gesture” phase. The goal is to release the R stick when the throw meter ring is inside the green circle. Doing so accurately will greatly increase your overall pitch quality.
