History of NBA 2K Franchise
The NBA 2K series is a series of basketball video games developed and released annually. Beginning in 1999, The NBA 2K series was an exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast. The series was originally published by Sega, under the label Sega Sports and developed by Visual Concepts.
Commentary
The first four games of the series featured commentary from fictional announcers "Bob Steele" and "Rod West" (voiced by Bay Area sports radio personalities Bob Fitzgerald and Rod Brooks who's working at KNBR 680 San Francisco. They also host a radio show called "Fitz and Brooks"), but since NBA 2K3 the game's announcing team has been something of a revolving door, featuring commentary from the likes of Bill Walton, Tom Tolbert, Kevin Frazier, Michelle Tafoya, and Bob Fitzgerald. The color and play-by-play commentary in NBA 2K6, NBA 2K7, and NBA 2K8 is provided by Kenny Smith and Kevin Harlan, with Craig Sager providing sideline reports. Peter Barto is the PA Announcer. NBA 2K9 features commentary from Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg, with Cheryl Miller as sideline reporter.
Ownership
In 2002 Sega implemented the American television network, ESPN's brand with their Sega Sports video games. The ESPN brand was used for 3 games until ESPN signed a 15-year deal with EA Sports.
In 2005 Sega sold the NBA 2K series along with Visual Concepts to Take-Two Interactive. The series is currently published by 2K Sports, a publishing label of Take-Two.
Features
The PlayStation 3 version of NBA 2K7 was the first version to support motion sensing controllers with a free throw shooting mechanic that has the player move the Sony SIXAXIS controller in a motion similar to a real free throw shot, but was discontinued for later games in the series.
In 2008 2K sports released the newest version of the NBA 2K series, NBA 2K9. Featuring Shot Stick 2.0, Living Rosters, and Association 2.0. These new features are all apart of the new era of sports gaming. Living Rosters is very similar to the feature in NBA Live 09, updating daily rosters on to the console. For Xbox 360, users can download through 2kshare or through the official 2K rosters updates. Living Rosters provide players with the most up-to-date roster in the NBA along with an 2k insider tracking player development and updating player ratings with each released roster update. Now players can simulate the most up-to-date basketball game. Before the Living Rosters released, players were stuck with old and outdated rosters.
Association 2.0 features NBA.com as the main option. Players can track stats and player development through NBA.com via 2ksports.
Shot Stick 2.0 is another new feature in NBA 2K9. Show Stick 2.0 allow players to change their shot in midair. Users can flick the analog sticks (i.e. shot sticks) to change the motion of the players in the game. While a player is flying through the air in the game, you can change his shot and avoid the shot blockers, displaying a nifty move maneuvering around the shot blocker to make the shot.

-Features a Slam Dunk Contest & Three Point Contest mode similar to EA Sports NBA Live series.(only on next generation version)

NBA 2K9
-The first Windows release of the NBA 2K series.

-First game to feature live roster updates from the 2K Insider rather than periodic roster moves available for download.
-Uses Steamworks for authentication and update.
-The ability to imported draft classes was canceled for this edition as the College Hoops 2K series began its hiatus. A limited feature to edit draft classes was used in its place.
NBA 2K10
-The first PlayStation Portable and Wii release of the NBA 2K series, and the first on a Nintendo system since NBA 2K3 for the GameCube.

Technical Concerns
Patch Update
Another patch was announced on November 25th, 2009. There is no ETA, but read all details here: http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249974.
Per Microsoft, the XBOX 360 Patch was released November 6th, 2009 at 2 AM PST. You need XBOX Live Silver to get the Patch.
Per Sony, the PS3 Patch is slated to be released November 12th, 2009. You need to be connected online to get the Patch.

Freezing in Crews or Who's Online Lobby Areas
Please refrain from pressing buttons when connecting to an online game. If you are not the GM for a crew, do not press any buttons at all. This was addressed in the patch.
Framerate - In the Key
This is alleviated in the patch.
Online Connectivity
You may have noticed the high performance of the in-game experience. However, you may be having a hard time initializing a game. This is being worked on.
Online FAQ Error
Make sure you have properly followed the port-forwarding steps. Unlock all the following ports (please look online at your own router for info on how to get into this manual):
TCP 80, UDP 88, UDP 3074, TCP 3074, UDP 53, TCP 53, UDP 3064, TCP 1795, TCP 1745, UDP 1795, UDP 1745
Network Error Team-Up
When trying to connect to a Team-UP game is to NOT go to the edit line-ups screen before games (don't press START in the loading screen). And do not run your game from the hard drive anymore since it's not necessary with the framerate stuff resolved.
Anniversary Edition Passcode is Invalid
Codes are alpha-numeric and the letters are all caps. There are no letters B (bee), I (eye), O (oh) or S (ess) in any of the codes so anything that looks like one of those letters is an Eight, One, Zero, or Five respectively. EXCEPT that the beginning of each code for this program starts with 2KONL and that is an 'oh' between the K and the N. Every 0 after that first one is the number 0 (ZERO). They must be entered *exactly* in the format xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (5 blocks of 5 characters separated by 4 dashes with no spaces and all letters capitalized).
End of Quarter/Time-out Lag Online
This was resolved with the patch.
NBA Today is not working
Delete your NBA today and Living Roster files. Then reset your game. If that doesn't work, erase both files again and have somebody send you an invite to an NBA Today game.
NBA Today and Editing Your Rosters
NBA Today and the Living Roster work together. You can actually change all the player ATTRIBUTES you want. You can also move "scrubs" (players with an overall rating below 65) around. BUT, you cannot move higher rated players around. If you do, the NBA Today feature will see the roster as out of sync and have to re-download the current Living Roster. Basically, you cannot do things like putting Kobe on the Knicks and still play NBA Today games.
PS3 Ranked Games Not Counting / Not Earning Trophies
This is a known issue and will be alleviated in the PS3 patch.
My Player Duplicated
This was patched. It did eliminate the clone in most cases, but once in a while it does not. Our recommendation is to start over My Player. You can try the workaround: when prompted to join another team in any fashion, quit out to the dashboard. Doing so will put you back on your originally drafted team and not clone you.
My Player - 5 Minute Quarters
This was addressed in the patch. You can change the minutes by going into My Player mode - Options --> Presentation.
My Player/Association Developmental Drills
This was fixed in the patch.
My Player-Do I need to start over after the patch?
We recommend you delete all files and start over. You can try storing your player on a memory stick and seeing if that allows you to walk around.
My Player-Freeze/Post Finals
After you download the update, if your My Player continues to freeze (been just a few of these but this should help nonetheless), you can work around quite easily.
-Copied the My Player data to a memory stick
-Delete the saves and all files/cache off the hard drive
-Re-update
-Start a new game
-Copy data from memory stick back to hard drive -Load old My Player save
The post finals freeze is known and being worked on. Please keep your characters if a fix is put into place.
CPU-controlled My Player
This was resolved by the patch.
Settings are not Auto-Saving
This was resolved by the patch. Online roster's saving will be fixed after the first roster update post-patch.
Draft Combine Availability

Any in game hang-ups of players leaving court
This was alleviated in patch.
Online Leagues/In-Accurate Online Rosters
We are aware of the problem. Some of it has to do with the current online roster updates, and the rest is being looked at by development for a workaround/fix.
Arena Music
From the main menu, select 'Features', '2K Beats' and then 'Arena Music Manager'. From here you can select from any available playlists on the consoles Hard Drive.
When uploading a player from NBA 2K10 I receive the error: "Sorry, but the gamer profile does not allow you to access this feature"
Press the guide button on the Xbox controller and choose the settings tab.
Select Profile then Edit Profile
Select Privacy Settings then Member Content
Set the Member Content to Everyone
My Player – Interest from other Teams
This only indicates that other teams are interested, not that you are being picked up. You should not be moving to another team until after a complete season.
Using a PS3 Slim and when playing online an additional controller appears at the team selection screen
To disable the Bravia Sync feature, go to ‘Settings’, ‘System Settings’ and change the ‘Control for HDMI’ option to Off.
