Am I the only one who is annoyed by famous rappers talking about how people "hate on them"? I mean, you're on the radio, MTV, you're making millinons of dollars, I don't think people are really hating all that much..

I don't think that it's really hating on them, but on the music industry as a whole and how it constantly tries to shovel no-talent people and music down our throats.

Inorder to hate something, you have to love it deep down first. Whatever the case may be the point is you desire it and you can't have it! Most cases it's a reflection of the conflict within your inner self. Other cases may formulate itself around societies footnotes. When someone asks me who I hate I just say I never took the time to pay attention. ;)

23 that sounds great on paper but when i hear the horrible no talent musical people being thrown out there, I dont have any kind of love ever. I hate it cause it sucks and is making music *something I love* irrelevant and studid.

Listen to anything byFergie, P.ussycat dolls or that new Gwen Stefani song...... what in the heck is that? Do people even try to write lyrics anymore?

Its all about what kind of cool beat and weird synth hooks someone can produce and these artists who have to use T N A to make up for their no talent to craft or write a memorable song.

Rock bands today, all these EMo bands are boy bands dressed up like rocker wannabes.

I dont have any kind of inner conflict cause I at one time loved the above mentioned.

I hate it cause it is destroying this beautiful artform called music.

We learn from what we hear.

Use to people learned from Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zepplin, Earth Wind And Fire, Sly and The Family Stone, Prince, Clapton, Pink Floyd, Public Enemy,Run DMC,KRS One, all the other great hip hop guys Im not educated enough to know etc etc etc etc

what ar ekids today learning from?

They are learning from complete CRAP.

Everyone thinks music is about some artificial drum beat and synth hook looped over and over a million times.

No one cares about emotion, lyrics, relatability to your life, the true artform of crafting a song.

Its all CRAP NOW and I HATE IT!

and as the generations coming up learn from this, music is just gonna get worse and worse.

Well instead of saying you hate it why not just say it doesn't hold your interest. If you dislike something so much, then the logical solution would be to stop listening to it. Whether it's garbage rap, R&B, rock, or country music, stop listening to it over and over. Over half the artists you listed aren't really all that bad anyway and besides how can you hate something that sucks? There are other forms of music out there with tons of great artists behind the helm but some people just seem to concentrate on only the negatives. That's like me being a billionaire hating on you because you're constantly broke. Or constantly crying about how the rap game changed for the worst while listening to "mainstream" rap.

Its all about what kind of cool beat and weird synth hooks someone can produce and these artists who have to use T N A to make up for their no talent to craft or write a memorable song.

And that's why you hate. Common sense tells me to block out the garbage lyrics and just pump the instrumentals. ;)

That's what school is for. If you wanna learn something stay in school and let the teachers and parents be the role models. You act like bad music is something that popped out of nowhere in the last couple of years. You had bad music dating all the way back to the beginning. You can't judge an artist based on one song, or one album. To me that doesn't make any sense. No one had a problem with Fergie until she decided to come out with a solo album, but peeps didn't seem to mind what Black Eyed Peas brought to the table as whole. All I see you doing is judging artists based on one song from one album, but what about the rest of the songs on their respective albums. Every artist has a flop here and there, and every artist has a mediocre album once in awhile. It's all based on preference because people like different things. Just because you think one artist is bad is your perogative but to someone else that person may be hot.

BTW, my profession requires me to keep an open mind. I don't have time to hate. I DJ, perform live parties from time to time, make beats, mixCD's and compilation albums, which I've been doing since the early 90's. I can't turn away a special request based on my preference because that's going against the code that made me what I'm today. I never said you should turn a deaf ear to the garbage that's out there, you must of misinterpreted what I said. How will you know what suits you if you don't give it a shot first? I on the other hand listen to everything and if it's not suitable for my eardrums after a couple of tries I just move on to the next. :thumbsdow

Plain and simple, minus the hate....

Throughout music u have had the party songs but u also had music that spoke to u and meant something.

Music is disposable today.

I dont listen to any of those people I listed.

Its been a very very long time since I got into a new artist. No one around seems real anymore, everyone feels fake and manufactured.

Well then you need to listen to Lupe Fiasco, John Legend, Jill Scott, Musiq, LaToiya Williams, and Busta Rhymes (he's been around for awhile). Just a few off the top of the dome at the moment. You can't tell me that those peeps don't display real passion in their music. Hardly manufactured if you ask me...

You can't deny their talent though. So many groups have been inspired by their music. They were a better group being high than most groups are now being sober.

I agree.

In the Hip-Hop sense, it could go both ways. I love Hip-Hop, but nowadays and since the arrival of this trash on the radios the past eight years, I have hated and still do hate 90% of it. But, then again I disklike or "hate" many artists in Hip-Hop today. I dislike more artists than I like to be honest. But, I never liked them to begin with or loved them deeply, so I agree that statement by 23 isn't completely true in my mind either. Especially in the Hip-Hop world, where "hating" is used the most.

It's okay to disagree with me, I don't expect to be agreed with 100% of the time. BTW, I don't hate the president, but from a humane standpoint I do feel sorry for the guy. ;)

Both you guys opinions have been noted but I ask why use the word hate? To hate something is to feel hostility or animosity towards something. Of course no one pays mind when someone says they hate to moe the lawn, but when it's applied to these terms it's really a waste of time. For every second you waste hating a second goes by where you could of devoted your attention towards something more positive. I don't like a lot of things, like for instance, I don't like turnips. I've ate them before, and I've ate them during Thanksgiving to support the cook but I don't hate turnips. If I hated it then I would probably end up hating everyone that liked eating turnips. Plus I would of never supported the cook! I also don't like "pop rap" but I still listen to it inorder to evaluate who's the best pop artist. The point I'm trying to make is that every era practically deals with it's own music fiasco. Am I blind to the death of hip-hop as Nas so eloquently puts it? NO! But at the sametime I understand alot of these cats are just misguided and misinformed; not by the music itself but by their surrounding environments within society. Hip-Hop is a culture, a way of life, so as long as there's people out there who live for the cause it will never die.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and beliefs but for me there's a million other words I could plug in to replace the word hate that would still get my point across table.

Hate is powerful word, use it sparingly....

Agreed. I prefer the work dislike. I was raised and taught to never use the word hate, it's one of those words that gets overshadowed, but means so much.

I give you madd props, I definitely feel you because I was raised the same, although the analogy between dislike and "hate" does tend to raise some eyebrows. I prefer to use three words -- "don't like" and if anyone questions me on why I said three I'm gonna laugh real hard and probably hurt myself.

Sorry for bringing this up late but I feel that in many cases it's the perp who's the victim rather than the victim itself. If you ever notice with certain videos, biographies, interviews, smacks, or beefs; cats constantly, and purposely, flaunt what they have. They constantly dangle it in front of your face because deep down they know that the majority of their peers will never come within arms reach of it. Most of the time it's a direct dis towards someone else, or just another sad attempt to please whichever gender. Some cases can lead to self-happiness or self-assertion. Let's be open-minded about this. The negativity that comes with this issue is kind of sad though because most of time in ends up blowing up in front of their face. I was always taught that if you got it (((appreciate it))) and never ever flaunt it.

There is only one person I can think of that I truly hate, and his name is Joey Porter.
