View Full Version : After much confusion: The Terrapin Legacy!

The Maryland Eastern Shore legacy got screwed up because of my dumb comp but here is what happened. MDES lost 12 games but made it to the NCAA because we won our conference tournament. We were a 11 seed and got blown out in the first round by Michigan State. The Maryland Terrapins won two games that season and did terrible so they allowed me to be their head coach. The legacy begins!

Hello I am Tim Legler along with Greg Anthony and it is time for ESPN College Hoop's TAKE YOUR CHOICE! Here we pick our top teams for the incoming year of college basketball and what teams we think can improve from last year.

Our number one is http://ideaspot.net/flags/Big_XII/small/kansas-sm.gif

A spectacular performance ending in a heartbreaking loss to Connecticut in the final four leaves Kansas expectations high this year! Look for them!

Number 2 for us is http://ideaspot.net/flags/Pac-10/small/cal-white-sm.gif

Not losing any starters will be a boost for them as they make a run for the championship, there best year ever was recorded last year and they had some awe-inspiring wins!

Number 3 is http://ideaspot.net/flags/Conf_USA/small/cinc-sm.gif

Going undefeated in C-USA is no easy feat, but Cincinatti pulled it off. Having one of the best recruiting classes in the country will help them replace the two starters they lost, look for them!

Number 4 for us is http://ideaspot.net/flags/ACC/small/wake-white-sm.gif

Being the number one team in the ACC is a great achievenment since the ACC is the number one conference in the NCAA, they are a great team and Justin Gray plus Chris Paul look to take this team to the top.

Rounding out our top 5 is http://ideaspot.net/flags/ACC/small/md-sm.gif

A dissapointing season last year leaves Terp fans looking for more! The new coach who led MDES to its first NCAA appearance in 34 years looks to do great things with this team, taking it to the top of the ACC and hopefully the NCAA!

Whoa, Cal at number 2 in the preseason.

I'm wondering since it said Cal had its best year ever and that they're that high, did they win the national title last season or made the title game or Final Four?

Hello I am Seth Davis and welcome to Sports Center! I will be doing SC alone tonight as my partner, Linda Cohn is out sick today so lets catch up on our college sports.

1. The Maryland Terrapins!
http://i.cnn.net/si/images/basketball/ncaa/logos/maryland_100.gif

After hiring a new head coach they have done an outstanding job of playing good pace and smothering their opponents. Their first true test will come tomorrow as they play the
Ohio State Buckeyes
http://i.cnn.net/si/images/basketball/ncaa/logos/ohiost_100.gif
in the traditional ACC/Big 10 tournament. What should be an exciting game offers the country's first real look at the Terps, who did an absolutely awful job last year, winning only two games

Ohio States main concern should be John Gilchrist
http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/md/sports/m-baskbl/auto_headshot/p-gilchrist.jpg
who has done an outstanding job of leading the Terrapins, averaging 18.3 points and 5.1 assists

The Terrapins need to look out for Ohio State's Ugo Nwankwo
http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/osu/sports/m-baskbl/02-03roster/p-nwankwo.jpg
Who is leading the team in assists, steals, MPG, and PPG

It should be a great game and I hope to see you all tuning in

This was going to be a good game. It started off Ohio State winning the tipoff and they came down and took a jumper for the easy two. The score was pretty much even the whole way till the last 2 minutes. It was tied 51-51 and Mike Jones came down and hit a 3. Ohio State tried to follow up and missed their attempt, Jones came down and sank another long ball to put us up 6. There was 31 seconds left from this and Ohio State came down and shot the long ball, which missed. Fofana got the rebound and was fouled. He hit the front end of the 1 and 1 but missed the second shot. Ohio St. never scored again.

Final Score-Maryland wins 58-51

POTG- Mike Jones-21 points, 3 boards, 1 blk, 2 assists

Defensive player of the game- Hassan Fofana- 2 steals, 4 blocks, 1 turnover forced, and 9 boards.

PREVIEWING DUKE

A look at Maryland's upcoming ACC opponent, #2 in the ACC, predicted to be one of the best games in the ACC this year.
http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/duke/sports/m-baskbl/auto_action/a-dengmug2004.jpg
Luol Deng is Duke's best player this year, Terps know to start Garrison, their best defensive player against Deng. Garrison, who is 99% recovered from a sprained ankle, looks to play hard and give it his all.

PRESS CONFERENCE WITH JAMES DIXON
Reporter: Duke has the #3 ranked best starting lineup in the country, what are you planning to do to shut that down.

Coach Dixon: I have been watching tapes of Duke games and Shelden Williams and Luol Deng are there top scorers. Our two best defenders, Hassan Fofana, and Travis Garrison are looking to guard them. Sean Dockery is one of the most versatile point guards out there, but I think Gilchrist can handle him.

Reporter: Of everyone in your starting lineup, who has given you the most gray hairs?

Coach Dixon: *chuckles* Probably Nik Caner-Medley. Though he delivered in the clutch verse UNC he still misses way to many open looks and he has missed two wide open dunks so far this season, we are looking to improve that.

Reporter: What starting player on your team do you try to model the other starters after.

Coach Dixon: Probably Hassan Fofana. He is the most aggressive and consistent player on our team. I am sure most of you saw how he did against Luke Schensher and I have heard from others that guarding Luke is no easy task.

Reporter: What do you have to say about the buzzer beater shot Ekene Ibekwe hit to beat Oklahoma State earlier this season.

Coach Dixon: *Laughs* Well I guess God is a Terp after all. Thank you gentlemen, but I must see to my team to prepare for the challenge that lays before us. Good night

*Cameras flash as Coach Dixon exits the press room*

Terps to release Caner-Medley

Maryland Terrapin head coach James Dixon announced that he planned to cut Nik Caner-Medley at the end of the season. "He is not fitting into my style of play, he does not practice hard and does not play aggressive," Coach Dixon said. Caner-Medley's lack of practice has shown up in games, he has missed 14 wide open jumpers and two dunks both which could have given Maryland a secure lead.

Caner-Medley announced his intentions to transfer to Michigan State.
"My brother went there and played basketball there, and I here they need a stable small forward."
Caner-Medley has been kicked from the starting lineup and is going to be replaced by Ekene Ibekwe, Coach Dixon reports he is looking at the big lineup now.

This game was suprisingly close, and UVA could have won it if it was not for a mistake by Devin Brown who, instead of taking the wide open shot, decided to get fancy and dribble in, then he turned the ball over.
Glenn Hooks then took the ball and lost his man and made the layup to make it 48-45, UVA did not even take a last shot and MD won

POTG- Hassan Fofana- 12 points, 1 block, 6 rebounds, 1 steal

Defensive player of the game- Hassan Fofana-1 block, 6 rebounds, 1 steal

Another close game that went down to the wire, but when Hassan Fofana hit a shot with 12 seconds left everyone knew who the ball was going too, Luol Deng. Duke gave him the ball but his last second shot fell short and Maryland went wild as they beat Duke for the first time this season.

http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/clem/sports/m-baskbl/auto_action/pc-3.jpg

Reporter: You have just taken the Terrapins from a 2-24 season to a 26-8 season and an appearance and possibly a victory in the national championship, how does that feel?

Coach Dixon: Honestly, I am not thinking about that right now, as the game is one day ahead.

Reporter: Arizona has one of the best center's in the country, Channing Frye, what do you think about that matchup?

Dixon: But we have an all-american Center remember, Hassan Fofana, that will be an interesting matchup.

Reporter: Mustafa Shakur has lead Arizona in points all season, Gilchrist is not a strong enough defender to guard him, what is with that matchup.

Dixon: My starting lineup will be as I announced, I have faith that Gilchrist will do great, and of course, I will issue a double team.

Reporter: What about your loyalties to Maryland

Dixon: Unfortunately, I do not plan to come back next year, as some of my dream coaching will be avaliable to me.

Reporter: Which are...

Dixon: When next year rolls around, I will be the head coach of my dream school and then you'll know.

Reporter: Well coach, we wish you the best of luck in your game tomorrow, and we know you have already done awesome with this program.

Dixon: Thank you, goodnight gentlemen.
