View Full Version : What do you think 2k7 will be like?

I've talked to a ton of buddies online and everyone is pretty psyched that the producer of MVP is with this series now. I'm always the most skeptical but IMO the game will be rock solid but missing some gloss that will be added in later series.

So what do you think? Any other details you got about the game that is not listed on the new website? I noticed there was nothing said about dynamic weather and "rock solid" gameplay but I'm just hoping these are just in there "normally" and not needed to be mentioned... :)

March can't come early enough for the b-ball.

Cheers

I think Brinkman's rep may take a hit after this...

:rotfl:

Yeah, this game will be a hit or miss...

I loved what he did with the Triple Play franchise on the PS1, but for some reason that I don't recall 3-4 years ago I jumped on with Sega Sports/ESPN/2K and just have stuck with them. I have faith in this years game, but we'll see.

Last years game was horrible. :(

Given NHL 2K7 is experiencing chronic freeze issues on the 360 and PS3, and given 2K still refuses to deal with or even acknowledge these freeze issues, and given MLB 2K7 experienced freeze issues at that recent game trade show, I'm guessing MLB 2K7 will be yet another unplayable Kush freezing disaster. In which case how good it all looks at this point means absolutely zip.

Well they'll have about 3 months of de-bugging and I think that freezing will be the first thing they work on, if it is in fact happening. The reported freezing your talking about at CES could have been for a number of reasons. That build could have been from say November and they've since fixed it. I'm no huge baseball fan, I go see a game here n there when I'm in Toronto but never watch it on TV or anything, it's so boring on TV. But I'll say this, I'm looking forward to this game, it looks great, I like the new gameplay of last year (on the 360) and as long as there's no freezing IMO it'll be a hit, providing they don't screw something else up.

Art, c'mon... go to the NHL forum and read all the freeze complaints. 2K only recently released NHL 2K7 on the PS3, and now it's having major freeze issues. Not only that, but 2K is now blaming Sony for the freeze problem, just like they blamed Microsoft for the freeze issues on the 360. You really think, given Kush's history, that they can actually fix this two-year old problem in the next couple of weeks?

That's exactly why I think you got to wait at least a day or two to get an idea of any problems/glithches this game may have.

I think it will be the end of 2K baseball if it does have a major problem and because of that I'd also bet that they will do everything possible to prevent it.

But with that being said, the history of Kush hasn't been very reliable and I'll be cautious before making the purchase.

The game comes out Tuesday, I'll probably wait until Friday until I make a decision and pick it up after work and play it over the weekend.

All I have to say is this year's game better be good, for 2K's sake. I heard that MLB was plenty upset about the piece of junk they put out last year. Imagine selling the exclusive rights to a developer, and they drop the ball. That's not good for business. Even if they can't get out of the contract, look for MLB to not renew unless 2K steps up and delivers.

Not trying to be too negative, but the freeze complaints for MLB 2K6 and for NHL 2K7 didn't really start pouring in until at least a week after the game was released. Me, I've decided I can wait a couple weeks before making any decision.

I'm pretty sure that was just internet rumor and speculation. I certainly never read any news article or release - just gaming forum chatter.

True, but I figure by Friday, there will have been people that will have played the game all day Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If I hear even the slightest complaints of freezing, I'll probably continue to hold off. If all seems good, then I'll go ahead and take the risk. But I would imagine if there is any kind of freeze problem it will come up at least a few times in the first few days, even if the majority don't experience it for a week or so.

Also, this depends on whether or not the actual game play gets decent reviews. Freeze or no Freeze and pretty graphics and animations aside, if the game play isn't good, I'll pass.

I plan on picking up the game at launch even though I really didnt like last years game. I love baseball too much not to give it a try. If it sucks then its just trade bait for another game later on.

you are all forgetting that NBA 2K7 came out later than NHL 2K7 and there were no freezing problems for NBA 2K7. you can't base your assumptons on MLB 2K7 just because of NHL 2K7. If the NBA game is fine then it would be more logical to assume that MLB 2K7 will be like NBA 2K7

freezing was probably the worst part of 2k6 why wouldnt fixing that be the first priority brinkman said hes played this game everyday for 4 hours im prety sure they would not allow that again

True, but NBA 2K7 was developed by Visual Concepts (as was NFl 2K) and both NHL and MLB have been developed by Kush for the last few years.

VC=no freeze proble,
Kush=freeze problem

NHL2K6 only froze on me with the regular Xbox. I had custom soundtracks on and it always caused a freeze. When I turned them off, the game never froze.

However, MLB2K6 and NHL2K7 on the 360 I have yet to have freeze. Sometimes it seems MLB2K6 would want to, but then it keeps going.

I have had Call of Duty 3 freeze on me. I went to turn the power off on the machine and the 360 shocked me, right when that happened, Call of Duty started playing again. That was strange.
