So folks pontiac sais starting febuary first there will b a room for ranked pontiac games top 192 from that go into to mini tourneys top 64 play the actual real toruney with those teams final four get shipped down to the real final four and play there for a chance to win a brand new 2007 pontiac??? and its all free. Sounds too good to be true but i beleive its legit, cant wait. What do u guys think

if you make the final 4 is when you're flown out somewhere to play, I forget where, probably wherever the real final 4 is being held.

It's ELO based, meaning you rank up faster if you play good ranked opponents. I don't think the teams you use factor into your rank.

I'm wondering if this tourney is even worth the hassle. I had to take a step back and say, "Dam, I'm gonna have every glitch and exploit thrown in my face for the next month." I had some guy step glitch me everytime he went in paint. I do it back to him once to call him on it and now he's supposedly gonna get me dq'ed from tourney cuz he recorded it. A trip to ATL and a pontiac isn't worth my time when cats are gonna travel glitch their way to the rim then when you hopstep them in a legit fashion, you're cheese. Can a admin tell me how we are supposed to file complaints for cheating cuz I'm sure as the month goes on, more and more glitchers migrate.

That's the guy you want to talk to right up there: Tourney_Admin2. He's the sherriff in these here parts. He even refs the final games in Atlanta live and in person. (We're thinking about getting him a zebra shirt this year.)

cheesing is not against the rules. pressing all game is not against the rules. spin moving into the paint is not against the rules so get over it and play. the admins surely only care about people pausing the game during free throws and disconnects and such. the rules are made and nothing against cheese is in those rules.

bama i still have a bitter taste in my mouth from last year...i feel like nothing went well for me in the game we played...not to take ANYTHING from you...you're the champ, but i feel like i just had one of those games...it didnt help that your defense was pretty tough either...but it also didnt help when i trapped you at half court and farmar or whatever guard it was shot the ball (out of the trap from half court) and you got the rebound, dunk, and the foul! like i said man im still bitter and i can still see that play clearly in my head...but like i said in the previous post this years gonna be tougher i think...good luck to you, marcus and buckets on makin it back...we very well may all have #1 seeds

yea regardless of skill level there was no way mason could beat florida on last years game..you definitely got the short end of the stick there...

this game is much better though...no one will be able to reverse dunk their way to a number one seed this year...or even worse by just standin in the paint with their pg holding charge instead of playin defense... that ish was weak...this year you really gotta be set to take a charge...and it seems like they patched the problem with every blocking foul being counted on the floor instead of getting freethrows for it...now it seems you get to shoot ft's on blocking fouls more often....

i just cant understand how glitching like that is supposed to be fun...it seems like it would be much funner to play a tuff game and win off of a buzzer beater than to win from drop glitching...that takes all the suspense out of the game...what fun is a game of choops if you already know the conclusion...(drop glitch ftw)

I've only been playing people with 90+% feedback and my games have all been great so far. I imagine I'm going to keep it that way too so I don't have to deal with the BS and get some real competitive games in.

This years game is still great though, there are very few exploits, which really puts the game in favor of the sim players.

Also, this year the hope is that the CHoops producer will be providing updated roster files for the final event in Atlanta--meaning if another Cinderella like Mason makes it there, they shouuld be significantly better than they would be straight out of the box.

In our football tourney two years ago, the tournament winner used the New York Giants. They were the 3rd lowest ranked team in the game. I believe in miracles. :)

To get the achievement you need to qualify for the tournament and then complete at least one game in the tournament. Do not be intimidated by the "top 48 Xbox players and the top 144 Xbox 360 players" numbers in the rules--pay close attention to the phrase that comes after that:

"Sponsor reserves the right to increase the final qualification number based off final registration and qualification participation."

If a bunch of people qualify, we will expand the number of people in the tournament. Last year we had a problem where we had very lax qualification standards--pretty much just had to register--and we wound up with a lot of no-show decisions once the tournament started.

Correct. Once we have all the qualifiers, they will be divided into groups of 16 qualifiers--each qualifier will be given 4 teams in a 64 tournament bracket. So if there are 144 Xbox 360 qualifiers then there will be 144/16 = 8 brackets.

If you are ranked #1 out of the 16 people in your bracket, you will most likely have a #1, #8, #9 and #16 seeded team due to the snaking of the team drafting system. If you are 16th out of the 16 people in your bracket, you will most likely have a #4,#5, #12 and #13 seed.

It really is a quite egalitarian scheme. But whether you are ranked #1 on March 11th or #192, you will have 4 teams to play with. Play one game and you will get the Achievement.

No, I believe that stops arbitrarily. The fact of the matter is that at least 192 people will qualify--we haved define a number for legal reasons. If 5000 play enough games and show enough interest, then way more than 192 people will wind up qualifying.

Honestly, the way it will work is if there are enough people interested in competing in this tournament--interest being defined as registering and playing more than 10 online games during the qualification period--we will let in as many as we can, up to a multiple of 16 (since we need 16 teams to fill out a bracket).

Basically, if you register and play more than 10 online games this month, chances are pretty good--though admittedly not definite--that you will get into the tournament even if you are not in the top 44 on Xbox or 148 on 360.

So for example, if 322 Xbox 360 people register and play more than 10 online games--we will most likely be letting 320 people into the tournament (multiple of 16, so 20 brackets) and have to cut the last two people on the leaderboard.

All of this is because what we did not want to have happen is to say there would be 320 people admitted to the tournament and then only have 200 register AND play 10 games to qualify. We would wind up with 120 people who maybe registered but never played an online game and who therefore would be definite no shows in the first round--a major problem that was flagged for us from last year's tourney.

Norcalballer23 does more than just Hopstep.....he does the hopstep, then when he isnt close enough to dunk he does the travel glitch so can can slide under the hoop to dunk it.

Hey admin, I have someone to report. Last month, before the qualifying started, my brother, played this guy named JBM19. (It might be JMB19) My brother was up by like 20 at the half. Then he started to do something that I think is cheating. My brother scored and then on the inbound he took a five second violation. Then, everytime my brother passed the ball in he would intentionally foul my brother. This sent him to the line everytime he caught the ball. The problem was that my brother had basketball practice that night and I had homework. So, this was making each game minute take about 25-30 minutes in real time and my brother had to leave to go practice and turned off our Xbox 360 so JBM19 was awarded the win. Whenever my bro made a free throw, he took a five second violation or after a couple violations threw the ball in and ran out of bounds. He said that he did this because my bro was "pressing and using other exploits". As far as I know pressing is a part of the game of basketball. This is not something I worry about because it was last month and not during qualifying but I am telling you this so that during the tournament, when the games matter, someone will keep an eye on him so that he does not cheat against anyone else.

I played someone who did something similiar to that last month also, though I do not remember the name. He would intentionally foul me everytime I had the ball to put me at the foul line. Then he would do something to make the waiting for player screen come on and off during my foul shot so I would miss and he could rebound / score. When that was not working he would turn pause on and off really fast until we got an error in connection and disconnected. I believe i was still given the victory as it was sent to arbitration. It was a very frustrating game to say the least.

yea this is hoopdreamz...you know there is one drawback to your strategy...of course youre gonna get #1 qualifying rank but lets just say someone equally as good gets #2...you play your games and win all of em except your game where youre the 16th seed...and the guy with a #2 qualifying rank doesnt even have to play that game because his opponent didnt show up...he gets the win and advances all of his teams to the final four...you only got three in and theres only one spot on xbox...so youd be out...i like my chances better with three open spots...you know even in real life the tournament is so fluky...you never know what might happen...also the other three finalists may not know "your" game/gameplan...but you wont know theirs either...so thats really not that great of an advantage...but good luck to you on xbox...hope to see you in atl...im not proclaiming myself as one who will definitely be there...but im very confident that i can make it back with my skill level plus a little luck...like most good players i know how to crank it up a notch when the tourney starts...im only number 12 in the pontiac right now (and im probably dropping as we speak since im at work) but we got a LOOONG time to play/qualify before the tourney starts...

I have a question for Admin, 2k did a great thing by implementing the FEEDBACK system, all and all its pretty accurate. So you know what your getting yourself in before game even starts. All cheesers like to say people hate and thats why their feedback is low which is BS. People know why they get negative votes. What kind of message is 2k sending by allowing people with feedback in the 40's, 50's and 60's to even compete in the tourney or even worse play in the FINAL 4. I have been playing some of the noted Cheesers on 360 to tighten my game up more, and I haven lost to any by the way. But Some of the EXPLOITS they do they could easy get them final 4 because most players cant stop the SPINNING in the lane and dunking everyplay crap. Would it be in 2k or pontaic best interest to have a guy with 45% Feedback to win the TOURNEY?

2k PLEASE ban Run n Shoot 3s from the tourney. The rules of the tourney state that no one can multiname and he's managed to. He is AKA Mad Handles. Same tendencies also. 98 wins 3 losses, 3 drops. He picks UNC Ashville, dribbles around my backcourt for 9 seconds, launches a full court pass to his 7'6 center and dunks. If he wasn't close to the rim, he'd travel his way to the rim. rj its not a waste of time...none of the finalists last year were cheesers (IMO...) actually its hard for people to cheese you in the actual tourney...imagine someone tryin to jack up threes or dunk on you every time when theyre using wichita st and you have georgetown...people who dont posess true skill WILL GET BEAT IN THE PONTIAC TOURNEY... same goes for all you duckers/bum hunters...what do you guys think is gonna happen when you play someone whos actually good in the tourney...? i'll tell you...all that **** that you can get away with against bums aint gonna work...and you may be sittin nice with a high qualifying rank but you might only get like 1 team to the final four...and that aint gon cut it...so keep playin bums please...it'll help us better players out when you lose 1 too many games in the tourney...

and back to the original topic...rj cheesers shouldnt be able to destroy you...you can do alot of things to frustrate a cheeser...

LIKE: limiting their posessions while maximizing your own
pressing EFFECTIVELY (wont say exactly what i mean by that)
taking care of the basketball (no more than 6 turnovers)
keeping your cool (it can be frustrating but you can tell a cheeser by his 1st poss)
PRACTICE (practice mode is there for a reason)
make free throws (we all know who the pausers are by now, dont play em)

notice none of these things actually have anything to do with the actual cheeser...its all about keeping and maintaining composure...

now there are some pretty sophisticated cheesers out there who mix up cheesy tactics effectively...these are the toughest ones to beat..but most of them are silly kids who suck and just are good at 1 tactic...learn to take it away and their through...

your game wont improve overall if you dont play good competition...getting a high qualifying rank is important but youre still gonna have to get all your teams to the final four...to do that you need to be battle hardened...playin scrubs wont get you there...im not sayin to ONLY play good competition but try to mix it up...i wasnt necessarily referring to you nae just people like that in general....but i guess youre one of the ones not playing tough games...another point...say you happen to just play flat out terrible one game (it happens) against a scrub then your gonna lose like a million pts because his rank will be significantly lower...my ranks 12 right now so im doin fine and whats even better is ive played alot of tough games...i feel like in the past two games my game has jumped to a whole new level nobodys giving me problems right now...i lost a tuff one to lrhogfan78 like 2 days ago...i cant wait to see him again....games like that is whats gonna get me through when i end up with, say a george mason and i gotta play syracuse in the second round...i dont really care who you play i know youre good but im just tellin you from experience...

Rebel I hear what you sayin man. People who have been playing this game a lot know who i am. I have played as many games over the last couple months as anyone not named adabesie lol. I have played LRHOG at least 4 times this month N va prolly 4 times as well. In previous months i would prolly play those guys on avg 8 times each per month. My thing is how many times do you need to see a top guy play to know what they like to do. I already know bro i have played almost all of the top guys who have good feedback. I don't think that i will win the pontiac but i'm trying my hardest even though it has put me in a position to be bashed often. I have a 133-15 record with a current 30 game streak so the scrubs aren't doing me 2 badly. If i never played anyone good my record would only have like 2 losses maybe 1 for this month. i have played almost 600 ranked games of ch2k7 n i have won over 500 of them and i still feel like i am just now taking the game seriously. Marcus, I may not have given you all the info. You can play on 360 now. One Gamertag can only be registered once on one platform. There is no way for you to register your Gamertag on both the Xbox and the 360. So you can go play on the 360 with the Gamertag you've registered on Xbox without a problem.

What you cannot do is create a 2nd Gamertag on 360 and enter the tournament a second time so that you are competing on both platforms.

So, you do not need to abandon the 360 for the duration of the tournament. You can go on there and show them how the game is played and not get dq'd.

I just beat NorCal by 9. He was Florida I was Kansas. He dropped with 10 seconds left. Blocked or stole just about every spin attempt he made.

I won despite the fact that I was about 2-10 on 3's.

Posting this to let everyone know that spinning and hopstepping is easily stopped if you can play D. Baselining too, that was his other tactic.
