"Well, this is going to be a building year and I understand that, and I just hope that we can improve game by game and bring in some more good recruits and hopefull the seniors like Kyle Visser, and Michael Drum will step up for us," said Coach Prosser refering to his young Wake Forest Demon Deacon team. Wake Forest is a very young team this year with 14 of the 16 roster players as either Freshman or Sophmores.......Coach Prosser is really looking for production from his kids this year especially the seniors. In order for Wake to be successfull this comin season they will need consistent production from senior center Kyle Visser. Said Kyle in the ACC Preseason Press Conference yesterday," I understand that I will get a lot more minutes than I have been in previous years, and I understand that my production needs to go up in order for us to be a well balanced team, I look forward to a great year and I know that this group of guys are very capable of great things, its just a matter of developing it all and working hard to get back to the top. I truly feel that this group of players we have here can return to the top like we were with Chirs Paul. I know that I wont be here to see it but I would love to be known has helping Coach Prosser get this program back on top." Wake Forest is going to have a hard place to fulfill after the football program just had a magnificent year capped off by a berth to the Orange Bowl. Wake Forest opens the season with a home affair against James Madison. " I hope to get this season off to a great start agaisnt JMU, I feel that we need to come out strong and show that we should not be picked last in the ACC. We have to good of a tradition to let our fans down." When asked about what he expects from the play of his young freshman, Coach Prosser replied, " I feel that with Ish Smith at the point, he brings us lighting speed at the position, its just a matter of his decsion making and limiting those freshman mistakes. I know that the mistakes will be there early, but as the season goes on I would like to see them limited. I also expect big things from L.D. Williams, and Jamie Skeen, who will be the primary freshman playing along with David Weaver. David will probably be in when Kyle needs a rest, but when hes out there he needs to prove that he can be a consistent starter in the future." Well that wraps it up here from the ACC Preseason Press Conference, but we hope to have an exciting year for the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest and we will keep you updated game by game.

Wake Forest (1-0,0-0) vs James Madison(0-1,0-0

"Well this was a great way to start the season," said Coach Prosser after a satisfying start to the season with a 69-43 win over James Madison. "I really felt we got production from numerous players, I mean we had 3 kids in double figures tonight and two of those guys are coming off the bench. It really helps when you can get a spark off the bench like that."

Ishmael Smith had an impressive debut with 7 pts and 5 assists. Kyle Visser was the leading scorer for the Deacs, he had 14 pts 7 rebs. Cameron Stanley added 11 points and Harvey Hale had 12. "It really was a great night. Besides getting production from all over the floor we played great defense. We only gave up 43 points. I mean I cant ask for much more than that from my kids.

"I hope that the guys dont get to cocky, I mean it was our first game and it was James Madison. No disrespect to them but this is a game we should have won and won big and thats what we did. Nothing really impressive or anything that stand out about the game. We now have to prepare for a very very tough road test against Bucknell."

"Wake, heads to Bucknell next where they will get an early season road test. "I know that they are a very good basketball team, just look at the past 2 years they have been a NCAA Tournament team and a very effcient one at that. I think we need to go out and play well and prove ourselves. We just need to play our game and our seniors need to lead."

The Deacs as you know will head to Bucknell next.

Wake Forest (2-0,0-0) Vs. Bucknell(0-2, 0-0)

"Well it was a little to close for comfort but I'll take it." said Coach Skip Prosser following the Deacs 65-58 road win over the Bison of Bucknell. "We really played that second half, and allowed them to get back in the game.", Coach Prosser remarked. After his team who streaked out to a 36-23 halftime lead shot just 34% in the second half and played carlessly. The Deacons were able to pull it out when Bucknell was forced to foul late and Wake converted on free throws. The Demon Deacons were 11-11 from the line tonight and that is what propelled to them to vicotry. Wake shot 41 % for the game and out rebounded the Bison 35-31.

"Well I was really pleased with Sophmore Kevin Swinton tonight." Swinton had a career night tonight posting 20 points and 15 rebounds.
