Surely we're all elated to hear the news: 2KSports football is back in town.
However, is everyone willing to shell out the $59.99 associated with most next generation titles without the sprinkling of NFL stardust?
I'm sure the NFL2K devotees won't blink twice at paying full admission, but it'll be interesting to see the reaction of the casual sports gamer when the game is finally packaged, priced and released.

IN A HEARTBEAT!!!! Keep in mind, if the game is good once the word spreads more people will buy it.

I'd pay normal price without the NFL rosters, but I think they game will be somewhere between 39.99 and 49.99 to give it a chance against a 59.99 madden game.

My freind and I talked about this. What would we pay for a new 2k game?
I gotta tell you, I would not hesitate to pay $500 for it. It means that much to me.

We have to remember that the price of the game isn't solely up to 2K Sports, Microsoft and Sony both have some influence over final pricing. It's just the price you pay to develop for those consoles: you have to agree to their terms to produce games for their systems.
That being said, I paid 20 bucks for 2K5. It was a game that was easily worth $50. So, if I pay $60 for APF 2K8, I still come off cheaper than I did buying Madden 06 and 07.
Madden 06 + 07 @ $59.99 ea = $119.98
ESPN NFL 2K5 @$19.99 + APF 2K8 @ $59.99 = $79.98
Still a good deal in my book, even if I get half of the playtime in that I did with 2K5.

I'd pay $100 if need be, but expect to see APF 2K8 at no more than $50, and probably $40. No NFL license fee means 2K will still make good money even at a bargain price. The bargain price will attract more football to take a chance.
They can make more money by selling cheat codes, uniforms, and stadiums on Xbox Live Marketplace, right? ;)

for us hardcore fans who happend to know 2k sports verry well, we would pay well 100 or even beyond on that price, to see this game, even though that a 59.99 price tag would be the right fit. because thats what next gen video game cost, if they want to appeal new gamers or even persons that dont know 2ksports, they need to sell it for a cheaper price, if they want to come close or even try and sell more copies than madden, and let them know what the NFL is miossing after 3 years the deal was done..
by the way the NFL should ask the nba and the NHL how the handle their liscence business.
and even if the NFL dont let 2ksports back in football business, they should at least let Sony, Microsoft and nintendo back in it, because with out them EA sports wouldnt even sell a single copy of madden..
by the way, hasnt any one noticing that if the NFL let 2ksports back in the NFL.
EA sports cant get back to baseball, because the NFL is a 5 year run, and the MLB is 7 year partnership...

I still have a ps2 so Ill probably be upgrading to the ps3 and the only game I play is 2kfootball! shelling out 600 to 700 bucks for 1 game( the best football game ever) is more than worth it!

I think $49.99 is the best price for any game. I've been gaming since the 70s and still own 10 consoles and countless games but $59.99 and $69.99 is way too high of a price point. With 360 games priced at $59.99 and $69.99 a pop I've been force to be more selective in the games I buy. I can't take a chance and buy crappy games at $59 and $69 bucks. With trade-ins being so low ($20 bucks) even if the game is still new. thats too big of a loss. I'm grown and pay bills and can't lose $40 and $50 bucks if a game turns out to be crappy.

$59 easily... if this game looks at all like MLB 2k this year on the nex-gen, I'll scream.

I put $49.99, but realistically I would pay 60 if that's what it costs.. but I don't think it will

I don't see any reason 2k won't or shouldn't sell this for nomal 360/PS3 prices.I hope they don't make it for last generation systems because then they can't put their all into the 360 and PS3.

First off I don't belive games are worth $60 and won't pay that price for anything.
Secondly I don't belive yearly sports game expansions are worth full price and 2K knew this when they priced 2K5 at $20 .
Although I do know that this new game is being built from the ground up I belive 2K has some sucking up to it's fans they they have left hanging for the last 2 years with not even a peep about them doing anything with football again.
And then you have other gamers that are sceptical about anything without the NFL security blanky and they surely will not fork out $60 for an unlicensed product.
Now if 2K can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that their new game kicks Maddens *** all up and down the block in every way possible besides NFL licensing then they might be able to squeeze $50 out of it but the real sweet spot is $30 - $40 for most impulse buyers.
IMO 2K should sell it for $20 to get back into the market they abandon and make up to the fans they screwed by skipping football for 2 years while they pouted in the corner because EA took away their ball.

I look at it this way:
I may be willing to shell out $50, but the average consumer may not. If they somehow manage to keep the $20 price tag, Madden will be hurting again, as this is the main reason that EA went out to get an exclusive license last go 'round. I say bring it. Doesn't hurt that X-Play has a thing against Madden as it is, and they are longing for 2K to get back in the ring too.

I would easily pay the price of 59.99 for this game even though I don't like how gaming companies have raised the price with the new generation consoles. In my opinion 2K8 is worth the price point (granted that if it lives up to 2k5) Unfortunately, 2k cannot, I repeat cannot release this game at 59.99. In order for them to take some of the market they need that price drop.

i would be willing to spend $60 but im hoping that 2k will put a cheaper price tag since its the smartest way to compete with EA if 2k puts out a demo and has a cheaper price tag then madden then i think the sales for the game will be very good unless of course the game does not live up to the expectations we all have..chances are everyone on this board is willing to spend whatever price 2k decides to sell it for

I am going to spend at least $120.00 on the game!!
If the game comes out at $59.99 then I am buying two copies! One for me and the other for anyone who says there afraid to try it, no more. they can borrow my "lending copy" then I ask for it back in two days, and they have to buy it if they want to finish that franchise they started!!
If the game does come out at 39.99 then i am buying three copies! Follow the same from above except i have two "lending copies!!"
If it comes out at 49.99 then..........well at least I will have two copies of the game!
BUY Many Many copies....what if you accidentally scratch one....Hey lookey here another one lying right here!!!

if they keep their track record in quality along with awesome customization options, sharing rosters over the 360, jersey editors etc, I would pay more than 59.99 for it. I loved the NFL2k series, thatīs quality. I canīt believe people love madden, itīs stiff and boring compared to NFL2k....

Did some snooping around and it seems like the tentative release date is 7-31-07, and the price is almost definitely going to be $59.99.
