View Full Version : All-Pro Football 2k8 Wishlist

My Brief wishlist would go accordingly:

1. Online leagues-Back better than ever.
I'd like to see a draftable online league. That hopefully is a no-brainer for the 2k staff. It works great for b-ball and would be over the top for football. It'd be great to be in the war-room and have your board.
I can see leagues having draft specials outlining who'd be the top pick in the draft and teams trading draft picks for players. Be great.

2. Customizable Rosters.
I hope this also is a no brainer. I think a simple city name with numbers are great. Randomly generate names and team names.

3. Presentation that would put NFL2k5 to shame.
I mean detailed half-time shows, award presentation ceremonies, retirement announcement, press-conferences, "sportcenter-type" end of week shows, etc.....
Also, Like NFL2k5, I want the "Game of the Week" to feel special. In 2k5 the overlay would say Sunday Night football. Which was a nice touch. But I'd like the whole atmosphere to really show it.
Same for Playoff football, it should most def kick it up a knotch.

4. Gameplay.......
Defensive adjusments similar to NFL2k5. It was great to individually assign each defensive player if I choose so. Fix the QB scramble glitch and more attention to the line so DE-cheesing isn't so crazy. But still allow for guys like Freeney to be head and shoulders above the average.

5.Have Under-Armor involved somehow. I think they have a good pulse for the footabll culture. Have them design some of the uniforms.

6. Get real life sponsors. Under-Armour, Maybe have NBC do a Sunday Night game and CBS carry the regular game since ESPN is taken.

This was a short list and not too much thought into, just some obvious things. You got some real creative things you care to share?

There are so many things I want to see implemented I can't even begin. But for me the biggest one is the online franchise mode. That needs to be maxed out with options. And one of those options should be (if you choose to turn it on) Salary cap. This would make trades much easier on the Commish. I've run leagues before and you inevitably run into trade issues about this guy is getting 2 good players for one or some such thing. If there is a salary cap in place it controls some of that. Also needed is a free agency pool which would be like a minigame online with everyone making offers to pick up certain free agents.

You don't need real sponsors... that will bring the price up, and we just want a customizable game so that's not necessary

Maybe the Free Agent pool could have an option of how big it was or what ever. Or you could just throw in everyone from the teams that are not used in the league. The Salary cap should control who everyone picks up anyway.

Also having sponser should bring the price down. The Sponsers should have to pay to get the free in game advertising.

That sponsor thing is happening all over the gaming world and what a better way to offset development costs. That said I'm headed to Taco Bell, be back shortly!

Yeah the shouldn't allow DE past a certain point on the LOS. They should only be allowed to move two steps outside the Tackle. Too many people were bringing the DE waaayyyy out side trying to blitz. Also eliminate the DT glitch and the QB spy glitch.

Fully customizable edit mode - Team names, Player names, player equipment, player bodywork (e.g edit face, arms etc), Stadium names and design.

Keep up the presentation (Try and get into talks with say Fox or CBS)

Add Team chemistry, owner mode and include a Franchise with all the off-season things such as draft, free agency etc..

Also make college/draft players editable like in NFL 2k.

Include Dan and Peter once again (I never actually thought they were just fictional commentators!)

Online leagues where players play off either their own or opponents server (which would mean players would be able to use their own customizable rosters) unlike playing off the 2k server.

Oh, one more thing. I would love to be able to call audibles using my headset. Talk about realism. Maybe the crowd noise could be a factor that way.

Have it so you can play against Virtual Identity Profiles in Franchise. This will greatly expand the Artificial Intelligence of CPU teams. You can play against other VIP profiles you create, your friends, and ones that you download off the Internet.

NBA2k6 and MLB2k6 had this feature.NFL2k5 didn't, and for some strange reason, NBA2k7 and College Hoops 2k7 don't have this option, even though the in-game manual for NBA 2k7 says that you can do this.

I'd like to have something more in the off-field. Choose a coaching staff (with influence on the team chemistry and players attributes) and coach changing.
More interactivity with the playbook management and create plays

what about?

Creat a plays are way cool, but I think the reason 2k took them out a few years ago is that it is too easy to create plays that work too well. That would be great if they could figure a way around that though, but I don't see that for awhile.

All really good ideas, here's mine:

If your team stinks, have attendance figures to show it. Be able to move franchises if you wish. I'm sure this game will be a dang good one, though!

1. I would love to see the Music Editor that was in NFL 2k5. My friends hated when I scored a touchdown and Rock & Roll Part 2 plays.

2. Bring back the selectable/customized touchdowns celebrations with new additions to the list.

3. Improved weather conditions that will affect the outcome of games.

1. Bring back late hits- I don't know about you, but being able to hit someone after the play was over was theraputic (even if it cost me 15 yards).

2. Online Settings like NBA2K7- I love how in NBA2K7 that you can just about customize every preference offline. Rosters, camera, everything....

I think 2k should make " home field " advantage and team weather effectiveness. When teams go into places like Denver, the visiting team should fatigue more often than the home team due to altitude, or teams with a wild 12th man should make the opp. team jump off-sides or miscommunicate. There sould be snow teams, warm weather teams that stuggles in both respective climates, teams that play faster on turf ect..... I think that would make the race for homefield for the playoffs very interesting!

I hope they eliminate some of the online drop glitches, like the halftime thing and the have a much stricter disconnect policy, where the computer recognizes who disconnected and automatically gives them the loss regardless.

How about the real citys, like 2k5 when the quarter ened they showed the brooklyn bridge. You feel what I am saying. I think they should how different presention for what chanel your playing on. Like nbc has different style then fox. The running game is good but lil too good if I can run 300 + yards on a team.

I have an idea. I doubt it will get implemented, but how about this:

Make the playbooks editable AND have the CPU controlled teams also be able to modify playbooks based on team needs and players. Basically, make the AI coaches smart enough to not use qb-running plays if their Vick-like starting QB is injured and replaced with a pocket passer.

Thats a cool idea.

My 2 cents:

1: Keep laterals. They don't work too often (well they dont for me)

2: Play editor/creator. You should be able to make all kinds of plays, including gimmick formations.
2a: To go with that, a package editor, so we could have a Carolina Panthers style no QB set, or have a backup QB line up at WR.

3: AI, have the CPU call trick plays more often.

Thats all for now, but I'll be back in this thread, I promise. :)

I like this partially.
If the headset thing can recognize it wouldn't be too bad an idea.

But the crowd noise factor definitely should be added regardless.
In other words where the volume reach a certain level calling audibles animation should make it appear as though players are having a hard time getting the audible thus taking longer.

And for the HotRoutes in this case it may account for whether the player runs that hotroute correctly or the original route. This happens too in real football.

have wind, rain, and snow, and extremely cold weather effect the game. i.e. harder to complete passes against the wind, deep bombs when going with it. Impossible to throw accurately in the snow/rain.
