I'll be ready if they release it for the Wii. I also would have been if they would release it for PS2. but if not Wii, I can't buy it.

if they do release it on the Wii, THEN OH YEAH I'M READY. YOU KNOW IT.

I love the idea of a generic football game if it has a lot of customization.

I found an article a few days that was dated last december that mentioned the game was atleast 6 months in development. It was said it will include Don King in some way. So I think it is only a matter of time. 2007 will be the year of 2ksports.

Oh HELL YEA I'm ready for some football. Sadly all my other 360 games will see the shelf. Got to brush up on my skills.

To have a spiritual successor of the ESPN NFL series and pick up where 2k5 left off, bringing the awesome gameplay to high definition, next-generation is fantastic.

Everybody talking about getting a PS3 I think 360 might be the way to go on this one. Two reasons: First I see the 360 being the lead platform for development also once you finish doing your 20 hour 2K8 marathon ;) there are more games on the 360. Besides, I wont be able to play all you guys ifyou go ps3

plus the 360 is cheaper, so is the sensible, affordable option.

I'm on 360 and it's a superb next-gen console. Live is fantastic.

hey speaking of 360, i wonder if they'll allow create-a-player face mapping with the Xbox vision cam, like Rainbow Six Vegas - but better?

I don't know if the Wii qualifies as a next gen system. They say the graphical power is equal that to xbox1. I wouldn't know about the CPU power but I would doubt it's up there with 360 and PS3. Remember Nintendo's thing wasn't about being "next gen" as it was more about being fun and accessible for all people. The non-gaming gamers. Not the hardcore gamers. I still think they were brilliant for bringing that out though. You know they can't be losing that much cash wise with that system and they probably will be in the black in no time. See , where we analyze and check games out before purchase these wii people will probably just blindly buy games as they come out because they had so much fun with the last one. "Ohh this looks like fun. Let's get it" Cha-ching.

Dont forget ............ the 360 version 2 will be coming out with 1080p & HDMI support as well and with a cooler running cpu and larger HD.

Unfortunately the news im reading is it wont be out probably till around christmas time next season due to a hold up on the cpu's.

I think that they will, however, use our ideas for inspiritation.

You're missing the point here... I realize that it's not NFL. I couldn't care less about the game being NFL. Having said that, you're saying "have some imagination", well, what the heck do you think customization is for? Imagination.

Why would you want to purchase an unlicensed game that FORCED you to use teams that you can't make changes to? How do you not see it as a glaring death-wish?

Understand this from a sales standpoint... 2K8 is not going be like Blitz where they can sell a bunch of over-the-top features. 2K8 is likely going to be a serious sim. So what will attract people to the game? Old players that half of the new crowd weren't even old enough to watch play? Or the fact that we wouldn't be able to customize teams that many of us probably wouldn't actually like? Think about it for a moment.

I want 2K to put this game out, but I don't want to see them committ suicide with this game by making the mistake of excluding team customization.

"NFL 2K5" is the best football simulation videogame to date. But, that's not saying much, considering it has no competition. Any developer can create an NFL TV-style presentation, if they desire. NFL 2K5's one and only groundbreaking feature is its V.I.P. System. Let's review . . .

- Marred with elementary bugs
- Herky-jerky, stiff player animations
- Wide open receivers dropping routine catches
- Cheesy "The Crib" and D-list celebraties . . .

"All-Pro Football 2K8" need be a professional product, especially if it's slated for next-gen full retail price. Whether or not NFL 2K5's numerous bugs are the fault of their QA department, I do not know. But the constant is that 2K Sports' products are notorious for bugs, which make the developers look uneducated and foolish.

That's crazy man.

The operation of moves and jukes was something that had never been done before. EA with Madden '07 for 360 JUST put this in.

First Person Football, love it or hate it, brought you closer to the action than ever before and it was done more effectively than any other attempt before it.

The graphics were certainly ground-breaking. 2K5 STILL rivals anything out there today. Grab an XBOX and Play one afternoon game at Texas Stadium or Reliant Stadium on a good TV (preferably a tube)... it's incredible.

VIP was a great idea.

Custom soundtracks, another great idea.

"- Marred with elementary bugs

The bugs were there. No question. But, Madden has it's problems also. The running animations could have been a lot better in 2K5, but I don't think any company has ever nailed that. For the few animations that were a problem, there are about 500 more that were fantastic.

As for wide open drops, well, that happens in real life. With some of the mods I made, receivers drop far fewer passes, but drops will always be there and I agree that they do drop a lot of them without modifications.

I was never a fan of the crib feature, but I understand that the purpose of it was to be competitive with the current lifestyle trends/concepts that other companies were putting out, and to appeal to the casual player as well.

Well, 2K5 was rushed out. We all know this. They had to beat Madden on XBOX and to do it they needed to make a surprise attack. Even though rushing the game meant more bugs, I'm okay with that because:

1. They beat Madden on XBOX!

2. They still delivered a game that was far superior to Madden 2005

3. They delivered a game that has stood the test of time.

4. It was $19.99 (mine was free).

If I were them (VC); I dont know if they have the rights to use names or not, but I
wouldnt worry too much about getting players names resolved correctly. Just getting the
physic of the players right would be satifying enough for me. "no ****!" Hopefully FK
rosters or some other 3rd party organization with the capabilty to implement a roster
naming table could also make up for the possible short comings of the NFL License
Agreement being signed to EA somewhat respectfully "Madden".

Thanks for the update;

NFL 2K5's visuals and gang tackling are fantastic, given the hardware. And they should be the standard by which all other last-gen simulation football games are judged. There's classier ways to attract casual gamers than refurnishing an apartment. What's most pathetic is that NFL 2K5's gang tackling puts so-called next-gen Madden NFL's to shame. I have full confidence that "All-Pro Football 2K8" will be a fine product.

The King has returned.

What's the legal position of the NFL-Madden deal? Does it preclude another company reaching a separate deal with the NFLPA? Can we get current NFL players with generic city team names?

No complaints, this is the best news I've heard in a long time. Nobody nailed football like 2K - next gen should be mind blowing.

Good to see you on here. Its going to be Legends, but is it copywright infringement to allow gamers to trade rosters and stadiums online? It might have to be through the PC connection. Someone has to go through the ardguous task of compiling player rosters and stadiums. (not me) Also you might not need a action replay with PC connection.

I will be contacting 2K today to see about a joint effort to help promote this game all the way up to this summer's release and beyond. I am a freelance sportswriter, and co-host two radio shows in the Boston area. Just this past weekend I made sure to mention this news to our listeners because I have been a HUGE supporter of the 2K series since the Dreamcast, and was very vocal about the EA/NFL deal from the get go.

EA Sports... It's in the Game for Five Years (http://www.e-sports.com/articles/231/1/EA-Sports-Its-in-the-game-for-five-years/Page1.html)

Slow Down... Slow Down... It's Super Bowl Weekend (http://www.e-sports.com/articles/1747/1/Slow-down-slow-down-This-is-Super-Bowl-weekend/Page1.html)

I would LOVE to make this work and come to life, and it would be even better to get the 2K Sports people to possibly unveil their game during Patriots training camp this summer where we will be doing some remotes on the weekend!

I just want to say that this news is the best news I have heard in a long time! The only reason I played video games before was for 2K football. I’ll never forget walking past EB games in the mall and seeing NFL 2K for the first time. Everyone was crowded around the display case trying to play with their favorite team. I broke out my credit card right there and bought me a Dreamcast and a copy of NFL 2K. Since then I have bought a copy every year up to 2K5.

It was a sad day for the football gaming world when Madden took over the license, and gaming for me has not been the same without my NFL 2K. We all know Madden is just like an “off brand” cereal, if you play it enough you might get used to it but it’s not like the real thing. 2K Football is the coming back this summer and I don’t care what uniforms, names, or stadiums they put in this game, because the game play in Madden sucks! I can’t wait to stomp a mud hole in someone’s *** online! :)

2K Football Forever!!!

February 7th, 2007, 12:41 PM
They should have done it sooner. I wasn't fortunate enough to play 2K5, and I am anxiously awaiting to finally see how 2K does football games. If its anything like their NBA 2K series, then I think I will be hooked. Licensed players are good and all, but gameplay rules it all, something EA doesn't EVER seem to understand. At least with no real teams, you won't have to worry about roster updates. :D

EA thought they could corner the market by getting rid of competition so they could continue to make lackluster games. Now EA can take that exclusive license and shove it. It will be SOO funny if a football game with no NFL license beats out Madden, or at the least cuts into the sales. I have read somewhere that the NFL will be dropping EA when the current contract expires anyway. I hope that is true, and the NCAA and other companies that they have an exclusive license with does the same thing. Competition is the way to to go, and the ONLY way to get better products.

For now I am stuck with Madden 06 (XBOX1), only my second (and last) Madden game in the past 8 years. I definetely agree with the off brand cereal analogy. It's not a great game by any means, but my love for football keeps me playing 06 occasionally. Never got 07 and don't plan on getting any more EA sports titles, including NCAA Football. Even if 2K was not coming out with this game, I STILL wouldn't get another EA Sports Madden or NCAA game again due to the fact that they bought there way out of competition and basically killed the football gaming industry for the next few years. Please don't get me started.....

I was in EB games 2 days ago. I asked the guy behind the counter if he'd knows about 2ks new football game comin this summer. He says to me "EA owns football and 2k cant make a football game until the contracts over". Then I say "well 2k makes the best sports games I gotta reason to buy a 360 now".He looks at me strange and says "but it wont be an "official football game". I'm like "dude I'll buy 2 copies of a 2k fb game". Then I split realizing this fool and maybe others behind counter at game stores will tell customers some lame garbage about "official football games" sheeit I'm just happy to buy a 360 and enjoy fb gaming again!

I would love an NFL free football game! Totally customizable teams-cities- leagues would be great. I belive Sierra's Football pro had these features, where you could put teams in any city, create your own divisions, league names etc... their baseball pro even had expansion teams after your first season (if you chose that option) with expansion drafts! I loved having no-name players and watch them develop into stars. I am so sick of Madden and it's crappy AI and all the features they keep leaving out but charging more for. Where do I get my copy of 2K8!!!!

Hey guys! Just signed up when I heard the news. All I can say is.... YEEEEAAAAHHH BABY! I also heard that 2ksports was making both football games this year. Are they going to be making a college game as well? Just like with Madden, NCAA Football for the 360 was a complete joke. I'm sick of having only one choice, especially when it's EA who's only out to make a buck by releasing the same game every year with a few added features.

Please 2ksports... consider the college game as well with generic teams. You're already going to have generic rosters that people can update later (just like EA since nobody can get rights to player names in college). I don't think EA has the rights to the stadiums, just the team names/logos. That would be an easy domination, imo.

Get yourself a 360. I've seen some used core systems for sale for around $250. Sell your current system for around $100 with some games and you'll only need $150 or so.

I'm amazed to see so many guys complaining about buying a PS3. Dudes, the world has changed, Xbox 360 is the far superior platform. Xbox Live is awesome, free demos and other downloads, better game library with more devs onboard for the 360 than PS3.

And, yeah, you can get a deluxe 360 with HD and everything else you could need on eBay for about half the cost of a new PS3. Don't let yourselves be brainwashed by the Playstation the same way all the lemmings are brainwashed by Madden!

I've really enjoyed my 360, and it's only starting to really get rolling as one great game after another rolls out this year. New systems take a year or so to really get some "killer app" titles, other than maybe 1 at launch.

Plenty of rumors that the 360 will see a price drop in the near future (May/June?) and a newer version (black with HDMI port and 120GB hard drive). The system is modular, in that you can add what you want (HD-DVD player for example), but I'd say the Premium bundle that includes the wireless controller and HD is the best deal.

Xbox Live is simply the best online service, if you afford $4/month. :)

For you guys who don't have a next-gen console yet, I'd hold off for another couple months and see what happens with price drops.

A few questions regarding "All-Pro Football 2K8"

1. Since you do not have the license to use NFL players or teams, what are you planning on using?

2. When can we expect this game to come out? I know it will probably be before Madden 08, will it be in stores before NCAA Football 08?

3. Details, when are you going to release more?

I started playing Football games in 2005, i went for Madden, i have never played the 2k series but i'm so fed up with the s****y Madden series that it ****es me off. On the 07 version for ps2 there was a glitch that would corrupt your file on mem. card when you manually saved. On the 06 version for psp, the psp would freeze after you finished a franchise game. on the 07 version for psp, i understand its peyton manning, about 2 out of every plays end in a delay of gaming with no reaction from the game.

Well I'm sorry guy but this is a dumb reply. Not dissing you but your reply. Here's the reasons why:

A) There's NOTHING 2K can do about having the game come out with the NFL license. It's not like they can go to the local Kmart and pick up a can of NFL license. EA and the NFL struck a deal and that's that so saying this doesn't put ANY pressure on 2K to obtain the license. So there's no "motivating factor" for 2K in this reply

B) Everyone here doesn't really care that you wont buy the game. Seeing as this is the APF2K8 football forum the majority of us here are buying the game

C) Your reply shows a degree of closed mindedness that is unprecedented in this situation OR it shows that you are not really a fan of the sport of football but you just care about the "pretty uniforms and logos". Both reasons of which nobody here could care if you bought the game or not.

D) Through some deductive reasoning, we can safely assume that we wouldn't even want to play you online. If your main interest in buying a sports game ISN'T for it to play as a simulation of the real sport we can only assume that you wouldn't play it as a sim. So any glitches or cheese that are at your disposal would surely be used by you, repeatedly.

See how much you can gather from one line?

Yeah I feel for the ps2 and xbox guys but this is progress. This is a statement game for them more or less so they have to make sure they put all their focus on the next gen systems and make it as great as they can on those systems. Most complaints from football fans are coming from next gen owners. So they want to fill that void. They may at some point put out something for the last gen guys but I wouldn't hold my breath.

2K, I don't know how else to say it but thanks. I had always played Madden growing up but then I discovered 2K5 and fell in love. Madden = $60.00 a pop with ok game play, 2K = $20.00 with superior game play. Then what do you know Madden buys out the NFL cause they couldn't compete with you. Instead of them trying to make a better game or lowering the price they just buy out the rights. Way to go EA, you should be proud of yourself. I'm ashamed to say that I did purchase Madden 07 for the 360, just to give it a chance and what do know, I'd still rather play 2K5 on my regular Xbox. I'm a fan of football not labels, 2K thanks for coming back. Madden and EA R.I.P, the king is here. :salute:

How many teams will there be in 2k8?It seems you can even create your own players,so having enough players isn't a issue. It's not the NFL,so im thinking anywhere from 20 teams to over 30,Hey 2k!!!You already spilled the beans on the legends,Maybe a little info on the number of teams. And by the way,Great Job!!I really look forward to this Game.:)

Well for me part of being a simulation is having REAL NFL teams, I will try 2k8 (rent it) but I just cant see it holding my interest playing as The "Rinos" or the "Flash"

Let's get to work as soon as tis game comes out and create my NFL teams, yes Moss on NE included. When you have it worked out those action replays or 64mb memory cards are going to sell like hotcakes!

Well for me its simple. Without the NFL license 2K8 needs to "revolutionize" video game football for it to keep me coming back.

I am 38 years old and am a huge NFL fan...I love the game, IMO no other sports league holds a candle to it. That being said, I don't have the time to sit and dissect every problem with Madden (which I can tell ALOT of people do). So yes, Madden 07 had flaws but it was NFL football and it held my interest for one season. (used to be more)

My point is 2K8 has to be unlike any football game ever...to me I compare it to the first 2K game on the Dreamcast. The first time me and my friend loaded that game up we were blown away!!! We knew this was next-gen!!! (at the time ya see)

So I am hoping 2k8 does that to me again, its been along time since a football game made me go "WOW"!!! I want that feeling back....

ok here is a dumb question but... madden has the hall of fame players in thier game and alot of these legends are in the hall, how did they get the rights to do that? or am i just dumb for asking that?

the best way i can answer that is to say that the NFL Legends are now RETIRED, so they are not part of the NFL anymore...so there are no restrictions on using them in non EA football games since they are not part of the CURRENT NFL license...something like that.

ie. Randy Moss=current active player in the NFL. can't use him in other football games.
Joe Montana=officially retired from NFL. his likeness can be used outside of EA football.

does that help?

I hope they have the option to use Legends or not. Frankly using old or deceased NFL players does not appeal to me. They need to have a pool of "made up" players to pick from .

Forcing us to use legends reminds me of Madden 07 and the way unlocked legends appeard on your season free-agent list...man that was annoying.

to answer the thread question:

I was ready for All Pro football in whatever incarnation it may have came since it disappeared off the radar after 2K5.

I'm looking forward to being able to play a next-gen football game - but first 2Ksports have to help me out a little. They have to bring this over to europe or PAL territories, or failing that make it region free so i can import this beauty and play it to me hearts content on Xbox live with all the US (and other worldwide) fans..

Hell yeah, i'm ready for whatever kind of football 2K want to throw in my direction. Make it happen, please 2K.

If they are no longer in the NFLPA for whatever reason (retired, dead, etc.), then anyone can license them.

Can't wait to see what 2k8 has to offer. Haven't been on here since the last 2K NFL game.
