Am seriously against this idea that 2k make the game to mirror the nfl....We dont want the game to remotely resemble the Nfl...Get the NFL out of your minds already...
Do you people want our game to be known as the Fake NFL?...It will be a mockery and a failure...You can not outsmart these EA/NFLPA guys...Do you think EA will pay 500 million for the lincence and not have the NFLPA sign over 2 million pages of contract stipulations?...Any attempt to remotely have afl2k8 resemble the Nfl will be suicide for 2k...They will sue the **** out of 2k and make them bankrupt....AFL2k8 will be full of legends, generic teams and generic jerseys...You are going to take time to learn every teams attribute, playing style and players/legends....That is half the fun...It will be an entirely new expierience...Embrace the idea because at the end of the day, all is forgotten when the ball is snapped and LB's are coming at you....It will come down to scheming, play calling, balls, and some luck....Embrace it and get out of the whole NFL thinking....The NFL is dead to us...It is not your place to wonder or doubt whether the AFL game will sell or not....You ahve to understand, its going to cost 2k pennies to get these legends into the game...They will actually be proud because they will feel like they are still rellevant...
We have always played 2k because of the gameplay...Madden can keep the NFL because I honestly tried less than 40% of the 32 team league in 2k5...

You make some good points but I want the nfl player attribute in there.
EA may have liscensed the NAMES of players and the nfl, but it cant possibly lisense the attributes of players. Give us generic names and #s, and we'll do the rest as long as attributes are accurate.

Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer thinks otherwise... there are enough football gamers in USA to make this game successful if they include a good editing system. Winning Eleven had the door shut on them by EA as well, they cant use any real teams or players but get this..its the best soccer game out there for any console, period.....go figure

I love the NFL and I love College football.
I would like to see the game come with some generic league, but I'd like the ability to define Leagues (number of teams), teams (city, team colors, team name), and players (name and attributes).

As long as folks can edit the names it will not be a problem. I prefer generic names and teams anyway. This would be good for video games if 2K outsells Madden. It will teach the greedy good boy clubs like the NFL that putting all your eggs in one basket can be stupid. Thank you NBA and NHL for not following the big pay offs like MLBA & the NFL. You need competition in the video game business.

What I see happenening is they will release a completely fictional game, but allow for full customization so we can edit the real NFL stats and attributes in later.
There, now both sides can be happy.

you people DO remember there was a point where madden didn't have the NFL license? well the lack of real names and logo's didn't mean a thing to that edition of madden... (the first N64 version i think. With the crumpling paper sfx :D) Point is, a league with generic names and teams is just fine to me, just name them after the city they play in for all i care. just gimmie some NFL style football!

If the NFL didn't want any part of 2k sports, then 2k should treat the NFL they same for the time being. Let 2k do what is necessary to get back into this market and build from there. Other than the possibility of legends and former pro football athletes I'm sure 2k has it all figured out. I have NFL Sunday ticket and NFL Network, so my NFL fix is always satisfied. My only problem was a platform video game and the lack of a choice, but, that will change this summer. No need to create a game that wishes it had a NFL license by making it possible to re-name, edit, re-assign players teams cities, stadiums - that would defeat 2k's purpose of being a true competitor and bringing a unique brand of football back to true football fans. Thats just my opinion.

I hope there's no resemblance to the NFL. I'd rather see a Milwaukee team than a Green Bay team. Hopefully in franchise mode there's the option to move franchises.

What makes the NFL great? Is it the logos? The Cheerleaders? What is it? Is John Madden what makes the NFL great? Is it the pre-madonna players?
Answer what makes the NFL great and that's what should be in this game.

Guys Guys
It will be fine. 2k sports knows what it's doing. Hell people have been editing 2k5 for like 3yrs now. I'm pretty sure the game will be left open for you the owner of the game to decide.

Transformdagame, my thoughts exactly...And who said we are trying to outsell madden.....We just want our game to survive and make a profit for 2k sports...Its all about how much it cost to make the game and how much you make back from sales..Without the nfl licence, cost goes down drastically...
We dont want to be the fake NFL...HAving the Legends and some retired players who can catch, pass and defend is all I care about, the atmosphere and the delicious graphics will take care of the rest.

Actually I dont care if they have legends in the game. Just be able to make the names, jerseys, and players cosmetics, customizable. If they keep the teams in the same cities, they should make the team philosophy like its NFL counterpart. That way its easier for people to figure what team to play with. I just want the attributes of the players to be similar to NFL so it won't take a lot of time figuring rosters. For instance for a New Orleans team they might have a running back with 97 speed and 99 agility. He doesn't even have to have the same jersey # but if the stats are similar then its all good.

That's where I respectfully disagree, DJ. If they have a "fantasy-type" draft, then it won't matter, but I'd rather start my team from scratch and do all the work myself. I would like it to be up to me to find that diamond-in-the-rough RB or WR. But like I said, if there's a initial draft, then no need to worry about it.

I really dont care if they call us the fake NFL. Cause We will still have a way better game then madden. I wish we can all customize everything so we can have a good football game. I want to be able to customize every single detail. Truffully we shouldnt care if they call us the fake nfl game cause they will soon be just like us. Playing the hell out of this game. 2k will put madden to shame. I know for sure that this game is going to get way better reviews then madden and while they can laugh at us we atleast wont be playing with those guerilla player models from madden with the stiff animations they got.

I see your point but I would like a team where it could be similar to NFL and then work on building my team from draft and FA in the next season. I just think they should stick with at least the philosophies of each team. Like for instance Baltimore or Maryland's team would have a great defense. Indianapolis or Indiana's team would have great QB and WR with a strong defensive philosophy.

I hear ya. I hope they have both options.
