I have decided to stop the St. Joes legacy, and the Illinois legacy so that I can do an actual CAREER, legacy.

2/12/04
Southern Utah has just announced the firing of their head coach, Phillip Andruwall. Andruwall, in his career at Southern Utah, has had a 25-125 record, and has not been performing as expected. Taking his place as head coach will be Bill Evans.

So my first CAREER legacy is with Southern Utah

What should have been a blowout by the BYU cougars, turned out to go in the opposite favor, due to rebounding

Robbie Warren had 7 rebounds to lead his team by 6 points over Brigham Young.
David Palmer hit two clutch shots including one and-1, missing the free throw, and BYU could not get an offensive board.
Both teams shot below 40%, it was an all around ugly game with SUU coming out of top

Final Score- 26-20 (3 minute halves in non conference remember)
POTG- Robbie Warren- 7 rebounds, 6 points

Coach gets ****ed as Washington State hands Southern Utah its first loss

http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/ncaaf/teams/1/80x60/wwc.gif(1-1) @ http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/ncaaf/teams/1/80x60/ssp.gif(1-0)

It looked good and over for the Thunderbirds, playing a team that was in one of the major conferences in the NCAA, the Pac-10. It started out as everyone thought it should, Washington State dominating with the help of their star point guard. At halftime it was 22-13 in favor of the Cougars. In the first 3 minutes of the half Washington State continued their domination of the Thunderbirds, going up by 13, but then it happened.
Jason Baker helped the team go on an 11-0 run with three 3-pointers in a row, and a bank shot from 16 ft, putting Souther Utah within two. But with 21 seconds left, Washington State just held the ball as time ran out, cheaply winning the game. (My back button was not working, so my guys were not fouling.)

Final score 30-28 Washington State
POTG- #12 (Wash St.) 8 points, 4 steals
What I thought the player of the game should be was Jason Baker
20 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists.

P.S. Non conference games are now 5 minutes in half length and conferene are 7 minutes

Southern Utah inches past Weber State

Coming off a disappointing, cheap loss to Washington State, the Southern Utah Thunderbirds were determined to win this one.

http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/ncaaf/teams/1/80x60/wwe.gif(0-1) @ http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/ncaaf/teams/1/80x60/ssp.gif(1-1)

During the first half, it was pretty much a neck and neck race. With Robbie Warren making key shots and rebounds, Jason Baker shooting the long ball, and David Palmer finding the open shot. But Weber State luckily kept up with them, with 4 double teamed 3's in a row that ticked me off badly, along with a fade away 3 pointer by their center. :x
It was dead tied at the half 24-24 and Weber State got the ball at the beginning and took off, with two hand-in-face 3's and a no look swish by their Point Guard gave them an 8-0 run, and they and Southern Utah traded baskets until SUU went on a little 7-0 run themselves to make it 29-30 Weber State winning, with 2 seconds to go on the shot clock and 14 in the game, Weber State made a grave mistake and fouled Robbie Warren, resetting the shot clock. With 6 seconds to go Lubor Olsovsky shot a wide open 2 pointer that rolled around the rim and missed, but Rand Janes got the rebound and took a buzzer beater that rolled everywhere around the rim, and went in.

Final Score- 31-30 SUU
POTG- Robbie Warren 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist

This game started out looking at the S. Utah team I know. Scoring and rebounding to put them up 9-7 in the first two minutes, what spelled the death of Denver in the first half was defensive rebounding, while they were highly ranked in rebounding they could not stop Robbie Warren, Rand James, and Lubor Olsovsky getting 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th chance oppurtunities.
They also shot the ball excellently, with a 67.3% in the first half, keeping them in a double digit lead over Denver.
The second half started off sloppily for S. Utah, as Denver got 4 steals in a row and went on a 6-0 run, as SUU's lead dwindled to 5, but 4 unanswered points themselves put them back up by 9, as they emerged again. With 1:19 left SUU was up by 12 and Denver started fouling, but pretty good free throw shooting had SUU staying on top.
With 1.9 seconds to go, SUU was up 14. Denver threw an inbounds pass and threw up a quick turnaround 3, my guy fouled on the shot, and the shot went in (One of those lucky 3's that oh so tick me off). And made the free throw

Final score SUU wins 39-29

It is games like these that make me think the computer cheats on all american

Southern Utah Thunderbirds http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/ncaaf/teams/1/80x60/ssp.gif(3-1) @ Drake Bulldogs http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/ncaaf/teams/1/80x60/dde.gif(0-2)

I hated this game, it was rigged, I got cheated, and something fishy was going on.

Drake's Center has a 3point rating of 17, so tell me how he sunk 5 3 pointers in a row? And tell me how any team could hit 12 3 pointers in one half, not scoring any other way?
That is right, whenever Drake came inside, I blocked them or they missed, the did not score a single 2 pointer in the first half, but they hit 12 3's in a row, at halftime they were up 36-12
The second half was more fair, and I outscored them 19-10 in the second half, but the deficit was just too much, even though Robbie Warren got 12 offensive rebounds.

Final score- Drake cheats to win 46-31

POTG (cheatingly) #14 (Drake's center) 23 points, 5/5 from 3 point land

This game looked over for LBSU, as SUU dominated most of the first half, and from the last two minutes of the first half, preceding in the first minute of the second half.
SUU went on a 14-0 run. But the AI did not like that, and decided to make it so I miss wide open layups every time down the court, resulting in them pulling within 2 with 7.2 seconds to go. They fouled me and I went to the stripe, I set it up dead perfect, L and R right where they need to be, the little red ball positioned just right, and as luck would have it, it rolls around the rim and falls out. LBSU got the rebound and heaved it down court, for the wide open layup to tie it up with 1.1 seconds to go.

Daniel Palmer threw it to Lubor Olsovsky who quickly called TO. Lubor threw the inbounds pass to Jason Baker, who was about 8 feet from the basket on the baseline. He shot it at the buzzer and it went in, winning SUU the game.

Final score SUU wins 32-30

Hi I am D Vitale,http://espn.go.com/i/columnists/vitale_****_m.jpg and I am Andy Katz http://espn.go.com/i/columnists/katz_andy_m.jpg and welcome to ESPN's FACT OR FICTION

Stanford will have possibly it's easiest game of the season Tuesday.

Vitale: That is a fact, SUU can not compete witht he likes of Stanford, I am guessing a 20+ point win for the Cardinal. SUU will have just come off of a tough loss, i predict, to Utah Utes. Josh Childress is playing awesome, Matt Lottich has a touch no one can handle, and there coaching staff is great, SUU will get scourged tomorrow night.

Katz: I do not know where your blood pressure went that last question D but that is fiction, SUU is playing some of its best basketball in a while. Warren is ranked 3rd in the NCAA right now in rebounds, and Palmer is lighting it up from 3. While I do not doubt that Stanford will win, it will NOT be there easiest game of the season

Admit it, you all knew we were gonna lose, but we put up a tough fight. Our guys were playing terrible in the first half, but there defense made up for it. Robbie Warren did his usual rebounding and gave us lots of second chances.
We worked on the inside, while Utah hit guarded shots from the outside.
At half they were up 13-12. We got the ball in the second half and scored to give us our only lead of the game, 14-13, but Utah's jump shots proved to much for us, as we fell to them 32-23

On all american, the computer makes it impossible for you to win against tough teams by making you miss shots you would hit against easier ones. In the first half alone I only made 3 field goals, but got all my points from free throws. Josh Childress make 4 3's all guarded (ticker offers) and their PG dunked on me, and somehow glitched to the end of the court right next to their basket so he would be wide open for the pass, I am not even gonna try to illiterate this game it made me so mad.

Following a month of tough away games, Southern Utah finally got a break and played against previous opponent, Denver. They beat Denver the first time by double digits, will they repeat the win? Only this game will tell.

Denver played a good game and did well in the first half, outrebounding our team by 2 and outscoring by 2. There number 21 played great, scoring clutch baskets and proving himself a true player. Jason Baker also did awesome scoring 2 clutch 3's and a clutch assist to bring the game close. Robbie Warren was doing his usual, rebounding like crazy and getting 2nd chance oppurtunities.
At halftime Denver was up 15-14, and we got the ball at the beginning of half 2. It was a great effort by Denver, getting clutch steals, but Lubor Olsovsky had his game of the year so far, scoring 12 and getting 6 rebounds. Jason Baker was lighting it up from behind the arc and Robbie Warren kept getting rebound after rebound. Rand James got two steals, and David Palmer had his career game with 15 points, including 2-4 from 3 point world.

A fun game to play, pretty close through and through. Centenary shot the ball well the entire game. Jason Baker was quiet on the offensive end, but Rand James was loud, he had a career high ten points to lead SUU over Centenary. Ronnie Warren was again hot, scoring 10 points and grabbing 6 boards, he also added 1 block and a steal which he put back for two points. SUU played like a team out there today, and played well.

The first half went sloppily for SUU, and Chicago shot an unprecedented 60.1% to have the advantage over SUU at halftime, 21-14. Jason Baker had his worse game of the year, going 9-18 with 0-6 from behind the arc, but still managed to get 18 points.
With 41 seconds to go, it was 28-27 Chicago State and SUU had the ball. Rand James ran down and made a clutch basket to make it 29-28 SUU. Chicago St. ran down and tried to make a baseline basket but missed and Ronnie Warren got the rebound, threw it down field to Lubor who made a basket and was fouled on the shot. 30-27 SUU, Lubor missed but Ronnie got the rebound and slammed it home to make it 32-27 SUU. Chicago States point guard ran down and made a 3 pointer to make it 32-30 with 8.7 seconds left. I threw the ball inbounds and they fouled Rand James, he hit the one and one to make it 34-30 SUU. Chicago State threw it downfield and missed the buzzer beater 3.

Biggest game of the season yet for the Thunderbirds, as the IUPUI Jags are ranked second, also going undefeated, in the conference.

This was a pretty even game. Traded baskets went back and forth between the two teams, with a turnover and a rebound thrown in somewhere in between.
Thunderbirds stuck to finding open shots and driving, while Jags stuck on throwing it inside and doing a lean away 16 footer that went in every single time. ( :x ) They had their shooting guard chalk up 19 points that way, including two 3 pointers from 4 ft behind the arc (his 3 pt shooting rating is 31 :x ) Two clutch shots were made, both by Lubor Olsovsky.

With 48 seconds left, SUU was up two, Lubor got a steal and went coast to coast putting up a layup to give SUU a two possession lead. Then IUPUI's shooting guard went and hit a 30 footer, with a hand in his face, double teamed, :x to make it a 1 point game, Rand James came down and shot a ball, and missed, IUPUI got the rebound.
With 10 seconds left, SUU was up 1 and IUPUI had the ball at midcourt after calling a timeout. Lubor stole the inbounds pass, got fouled, and both free throws to make it a 3 point lead. Ronnie then stole the other inbounds pass, and hit 1 free throw, to make it a 4 point lead.

IUPUI could not come back

This game was one sided for the Thunderbirds the entire way, with Western Illinois being possibly the worst team in the NCAA, (no offense to the guy who is writing the Leatherneck legacy.) Ronnie Warren had a career game, with a double double (10 points, 10 rebounds) and a block and two assists thrown in between.
This game made me figure out that I need to get Rand James out of the starting lineup, as he did awful, going 2-7 and missing 4 wide open jumpshots, I am going to have to look for a recruit that does not do that, though in my position, high level recruits do not come in too often.

Final score SUU dominated 41-17

We got a NCAA tournament bid, so this is where we start

Hello I am D*i*ck Vitale and welcome to the seeding of the NCAA tournament. We will start here in just a few moments but first I want to relay my thoughts on this past season.

1. The Tar Heels looked explosive this season, proving to stand up to what their legacy deserves, going 14-2 in conference play, and 31-5 overall gave the Tar Heels an awesome season, the could be taking down the nets.

2. The Southern Utah Thunderbirds have had there best season yet, going 21-6 and possibly getting a single digit NCAA tournament bid, they have been explosive and Ronnie Warren could take home POTY.

3. The Duke Blue Devils flunked this season, going a measly 6-19 they did not even get an NIT bid. It was a horrid season for them trying to prove this legacy was more than just a fluke and with players probably leaving, it can only get worse.

Now it is time for the seeding of the
NCAA tournament

Northwestern Bracket

(1) University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill against (16) Elon University

(8,) Southern Utah University against (9) St. Bonaventure University

(5) Dayton University against (12) Boston University

(6) Colorado University against (11) East Carolina University

(3) Louisiana State University against (14) UCLA

(7) University of Louisville against (10) University of Cincinatti

(2) Syracuse University against (15) Pepperdine University

and that concludes the Northwestern bracket
__________________________________________________ __________
Southwestern Bracket

(1) University of Connecticut against (16) University of North Carolina-Wilmington

(8,) Arizona State University against (9) Belmont University

(5) Georgia Tech University against (12) Ball State University

It was a really good game for SUU, being pumped about getting there first NCAA tournament bid in 67 years. They came out pumped and on top. The first half was SUU all the way, Warren chalked up 15 points and 7 boards and Rand James had 8 assists to be ahead 34-29 at the halftime break.

Coming out of the locker room, St. Bonaventure went on a 5-0 run to tie it at 34. That is when Baker took control. He drove down and shot up a 3, missed, but Warren got the rebound and tossed it back to him. He shot a 3 and drained it, he then forced a turnover on the other end.

He would go on to have 19 points that half. To lead SUU with a 56-52 win over the Bonnies.

Congrats Thunderbirds! You just had your first NCAA tournament win in 83 years!

Anyone want to take a guess at how this one ended up??? Anyone???? Let me just say it was ugly.

Sean May won the tipoff and Raymond Felton drove uncontested for the layup and got the and-1. That is how pretty much the game went. Ronnie Warren had 6 points the first half and Lubor had 3 rebounds. At the end of the half, it was 47-21 Tarheels.

Second half the Thunderbirds came out a'screamin, and played their best basketball all year, with 46 seconds left, they tied it up at 62 all. Tarheel ball, Raymond passed it to Rashad who chalked up a 3 with 37.2 seconds to go and drained it, very demoralizing for the Thunderbirds.
Rand James came down and drove, making the layup and trying for the and-1, but it was of no avail. With 12 seconds to go TarHeels were up by 1 and had the ball, so we started fouling. Raymond went up and hit both free throws. Down by 3 we gave Jason Baker the ball and he fired up a 3 with 8.9 seconds to go, and drained it!!!!!!
"Don't you start celebrating" I yelled to my cheering players out on the court, but it was too late. Melvin Scott went coast-to-coast to make an uncontested layup with .9 seconds left. And we could not do anything to beat the deficit.

Final score UNC wins 69-67

POTG- Raymond Felton- 10 assists, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, 21 points, 1 block

In order to make my dream to become the ECU head basketball coach more realistic, I have decided to accept the San Diego State Aztecs Head Coach!
(No coach would ever step down from a Duke or Arizona job to go to ECU)
My second CAREER LEGACY season is with the San Diego State Aztecs

Bill Evans press conference

Reporter: After giving Southern Utah a 31-6 record last year, an NCAA tournament appearance, and their first national rating ever, what caused you to leave?

Coach: Well, it is difficult to say, I am trying to work my way up to my dream job, which is head coach at East Carolina or University of North Carolina Chapel Hill

Reporter: Southern Utah is preseason ranked #10, does this affect you?

Coach: I have scheduled a game between my Aztecs and them, and we will see how that turns out, we have a talented group of guys here, and I think we could go a long way.

Reporter: So you are saying you are not planning on staying here long?

Coach: Yes

Reporter: What is your goal for this season?

Coach: Well, I am trying to make it past the third round of the NCAA tournament, get into the Elite 8, it will be the first time this school has ever done this, and will be a great change.

Reporter: Who do you plan to be the team leader?

Coach: Marcus Slaughter has already shown outstanding leadership abilities on and off the court, unless it has all been a fluke, I see a future team captain. We will SLAUGHTER opponents (yes pun intended)

Reporters: *Chuckles*

Coach: It has been a great career for me so far, but this will really prove the test. I am in a much harder conference than last year. The Mountain West has teams like UNLV, Colorado State, Air Force, and Utah to truly show what we are made of.

Reporter: What recruiting are you looking too?

Coach: I am looking for a backup Power Forward, Marcus is a junior but we have no real backup for him, that has his size, still we have a lot of size on our team.

Reporter: If you had one team you would most like to beat this year, who would it be?

Coach: Duke, I hate Duke, and Krzyzewskisucks (again pun intended)

Reporters: *More Chuckles*

Reporters: Well thanks for your time coach, best of luck to you guys and here is to a fulfilling year, and we hope you get your ECU job.
