Two weeks after the firing of Head Coach Bobby Jones, Saint Francis (PA) AD Tom Moore held a press conference today to announce the new coach,Andrew Radcliffe. Coach Radcliffe is young (25) with great leadership skills and a great personality that basketball players love. He plans to meet with the team tomorrow. AD Tom Moore also says he will give Coach Radcliffe the oppurtunity to find 2 assistants coaches. When asked on his goals for the 2006-2007 season, Coach Radcliffe had this to say,"Well, I guess a national championship would be nice?Yeah, that's my goal for this year, a national championship. That is what is great about the beginning of the season, every team is a contender. People may say that my goal is unrealistic, and that's fine. It may not be but I will try everything in my power to get it. I want my players to know this and hopefully they feel the same way."

Midnight Madness
The season kicked off tonight at the Stokes Athletic Center as the white team took care of the red team fairly easy. The crowd got to see athletic dunks and moves from Freshman Kirk Songondo, a projected starter at the 3 spot. The Red Flash still have 4 more weeks until their first game against St. Bonaventure, time that they can use to gather film and work on their game. Let the 2006-2007 season begin!

Recruiting News
Well it is November 6th, and our Red Flash have yet to play a game. Coach Radcliffe has taken this time to not only prepare his current players, but find some new ones for next year. According to Rivals.com these 2 recruits are part of Coach Radcliffe's tagret list, becuase he only has 2 scholarships to offer.

Marquise Fowler JC FR SF 6'6" 3* Cameroon
Darrian Sinville HS SR C 6'8" 1* Philadelphia,PA

Fowler has an excellent shot and good rebounding skills, which has Coach Radcliffe raving. A one star recruit doesn't look to appetizing, but most feel that Sinville should be a 2 or maybe a 3. His size hurts him though, at 6'8", but he has great post skills.

Coach Radcliffe Starts Career With W
After being down 24-9 to St. Bonaventure, the Red Flash went on a little run to make it 28-25 at half. That momentum carried over and Saint Francis went on a 17-2 run and sealed the deal for their first win of the season. Kirk Songondo carried the team with 20 points and 7 steals, while Senior Clint Brittian had 6 points 3 boards and 4 assists. Here is what Coach Radcliffe had to say after the game. "We started off in a slump and got into a half court game with them, a game I knew we couldn't win against this type of team. I challenged the boys to force turnovers and run the floor at every oppurtunity, and they did just that. To beat an A-10 team this early in the season is really exciting, especially St. Bonaventure. They are a solid team and are going to have a great year."

Red Flash Lose First Game in South Padre Invitational
The champsionship game of the South Padre Invitational Tournament will not feature Saint Francis. Sam Houston State won a dog fight against the Red Flash. Saint Francis had the lead most of the game, but fell apart with about 5 minutes left in the game. "I don't know what happened to us out there," comment Coach Radcliffe."We just fell apart. It's a skill to be able to get yourself out of something like that, but all we need to do is to take what happened out there and learn from it. This tournament was a great experience, and the players really enjoyed it.I just wish we could have came out on top."
