I absolutely love 2k sports, and took it very hard when the exclusive license deal took place,so i kept playing 2k5, just like we all did, for the past 2 years, id stop by this site to see if 2k would announce a new game, but it just wouldnt happen,so yesterday,i stopped by this site with just under 2 minutes left on my library computer account and saw that the 2kx forums had a new name,All Pro Football 2k8,i just about jit myself, yes i said jit,but just as soon as i saw it,my time on library computer was up,so i went home very excited about the news.So today i look up which platforms this marvelous new game is going to be on and all i can find is that everything i read says it is supposedly next gen only,i am a ps2 owner and do not intend on buying one of those expensive next gen deals anytime soon,so this was like hearing the exclusive nfl license deal all over again,so i guess my journey really ended with 2k5,but dont get me wrong,i am VERY VERY happy for 2k and everyone who gets to enjoy APF 2k8,i hope 2k finishes the strangle hold it was begining to have on ea in 2k5,and i also hope that this new game/series does very well so that maybe 2k can give me/us ps2 users some sort of great football game to play.

You need to understand that PS2 has been out now for over 7 years and it has been pushed as far as it can go.
It simply would be pointless for 2k to put this game out for PS2 and XBOX as this would only hold them back from making it the best it can be for 360 and PS3.

Seriously, it would hold next-gen back and then it wouldn't be much improved.. just play 2k5

i here ya,but they made nba 2k7 for current gen,and it didnt hurt sales for the next gen version, and we all know that 2k5 was current gen and is way better than madden next gen,so why not make another game for current gen and show that they can make current and next gen games that are better than anything ea can make?

even though i have a ps3 i think they can do it for current gen.

they can, but it will take up time and resources since they can't directly port, and that will hold back next-gen madden

2K can make a port for PS2 and Xbox 360 but they should release it a few months after the release of AP Football on the next-gen systems. This gives them time to focus on next-gen until July and it will help sastisfy fans.

Its time to upgrade. Because if they release it for current gen and take out a ton features taht are in the next gen version because teh current gen system aren't capable of doing them people will complain about how the current gen systems game is inferior or worst then the next gen ones.

Even though it really sucks for current gen owners they should concentrate on next gen systems.

Im pretty sure, most comapies have been more than generous with making games for old platforms up till now. ITs time to get off your butt and get one. Im not being mean, just getting it through your head...from here on out, there won't be any new titles for old platforms.

now that all next gen systems are out there is no need to still make current gen games i know there is still a large number of people who have yet to upgrade but makin a game for to different gen systems is not fair to either system owner..ps2 and xbox owners will be dissapointed because they will not have all the features they hoped for and next gen owners will be satisfied but they wont know what else could have been done if they didnt have to work on a last gen system

Dammit, Scotty!!!
I need warp speed in five minutes or we're all dead!!
Actually, I'd settle for a period now and again.
As I said before, I respect and agree with your opinion, but damn!
Use a period now and again. It's hard to read your replies!!

I have a 360 but I feel bad for the players who couldn't get the next gen console for whatever reason.
The majority of 2K football supporters over the last three years, had been the current gen owners.
Who do you think Greg Thomas was referring to in the interview??
Greg Thomas:It's all about our fans who stood behind our games. You can remember all of the postings and stories and everything that went online when this whole NFL thing happened. A lot of these guys really stood behind us and continue to stand behind us today. And you know, all of that, that's what really matters to us. We want to make the fans of our game happy, people who said, "Hey, the 2K football series is the best."
(Quote from the Gamespot interview http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/allprofootball2k8/news.html?sid=6165016&tag=recent_updates;title;0&page=2 )
Some posts in this thread are asking current gen owners to "upgrade" because of the "features" and "better graphics".
That is like asking a Ford Escort owner to upgrade to a Ferrari because it "drives better" and it's "much faster"....
...sure it would be nice, but it doesn't change the fact that they couldn't buy one.
It does not appear that they will be releasing APF 2K8 on the current gen, which is an INJUSTICE in my opinion.

They may indeed release something for the current gen later on but it would only be NFL2K5.1. The old stuff just wouldn't be able to handle what the 360 and ps3 can do. Who knows how that would be received. They are making a smart move. Hit it on the next gen platforms and put all that you have into it. I just hope it justifies not being on current gen.
As for "giving the fans what they want" this has SO many translations that it would be almost reckless to guess. So many fans have so many wants that who knows what they mean by that. But i guess we'll find out soon enough.

Im not sure how to feel for you jimmysosweethell,on one hand, you never know,2k may make some sort of port of APF 2k8 for ps2,andon the other hand,if this game ends up being what we all hope it will be,and you do in fact love 2k sports as much as you say you do,then youd owe it to yourself to pick up a next gen system and fully enjoy 2k8,i know that an X-box360 and a ps3 arent cheap, but did you know that you can buy a used 360 at game stop for only $280 bucks?Take me for example,i got into 2k football in 03,and have been playing some version of it ever since, and when EA hooked the nfl deal,i to,would come on this site looking for some glimmer of light for a new football game from 2k sports, and i never bothered to register an account until now, just to tell you that if this game rock the house, then people on this site will tell you that it does,so that you can know from other 2k sports lovers, that it will indeed be worth it to buy a 360 or ps3,so dont go feeling sorry for yourself man,its like you said, maybe this will be 2ks chance to really stick it to EA and madden.

Just buy an XBOX 360. They're only $400, which isn't that expensive in comparison with the costs of other pieces of technology.
A 60 GB MP3 player costs nearly $400. High-Def TV's cost $1,500+. A new computer can cost well over $1000. PS3's cost $600. Even PDA's and Scanner/Printer's cost almost $400.
