Wouldnt it be cool if 2k could create a custom controller for apf 2k8. Remember the dreamcast had that led addon that plugged into the controller. you could actually call your plays and your opponent could not see what play you called. 2k please consider that idea, im sure most of us would agree.

Yeah and I still have mine. People (mainly madden fans) hated it. Beause you could see what people were calling on Madden but with the VMUs you couldn't. Someone needs to make a color version with a bigger screen. It would be sweet.

The VMU was hot. Dreamcast was way ahead of it's time.

Poor poor Dreamcast. It had such potential.

It still to this day boggles my mind as to why neither M$ nor Sony decided to copy that feature. I really loved that thing. Imagine nowadays where the technology is cheaper and better and we can actually SEE a graphic of the play instead of just a list. Nonetheless I REALLY loved that thing. And just like you guys I still have my dreamcast. NFL 2K was fantastic with that vmu feature enabled. GOOD TIMES , GOOD TIMES!!!
Like you said though, poor dreamcast. It had HUGE potential. But that tells you the "duh-ness" of people. The game was better than Madden, the system was better than anything out there and yet it couldn't survive.
OK NOW ON THE OTHER HAND... 2K would have to be OUT OF THEIR MINDS to create a custom controller for this game. History of games with custom contollers don't bode well. Steel Battalion anyone?

Steel Battalion was...
Uhm...
Steel Battalion was,
or rather....
Errr, um.... yeah.
Okay, Steel Batallion sucked.
But the controller was cool as s**t, though...

No reason to make it mandatory. Make it optional. Make it slick looking, partner with another company to get it made. Utilize the USB ports on the new console to get a serial display going, and off you go.
Heey...doesn't sound too shabby IMHO. :)

I'm suprised you didn't like it. Most everyone who bought it liked it very much. You still have yours or did you get rid of it already?

I don't know who would want to do this. I can see some homebrew action going on but I just can't see a company wanting to do this. They'd have to get a few devs to sign on with it.

Sorry, Diego. Bad idea.
Extra peripherals are really hard to sell.
I'm actually very surprised (pleasantly) to see how successful the Guitar Hero series has been.
Traditionally, game specific controllers have only been successful in Japan.
I think it's a great idea, it just won't work here.
BTW, off topic: does anyone remember the Neg-Con controller Namco brought out for the Ridge Racer series on PS One? Was i the only one who bought that thing and loved it?

Sorry.
Didn't use the VMU.
I like when people steal my plays off the screen. It gave me the advantage.

what i mean is that the controller with vmu capabilities would be created and packaged by 2ksports . (game and controller package) and maybe make it a limited edition. i can see one of you guys coming up with a awesome device that would be for the hardest of 2k fans .which is pretty much everybody on this board. i love to see one of you guys press this idea. its going to be something special when this game is released!!

Heh, I love when my friends try to see what play I've chosen. Sometimes I'll just straight up show them....makes it that much better when I break off a 20 yard run or throw a 40 yard bomb.

I thought M$ would copy that feature since their controllers were Dreamcast like. I was hoping they would for the Xbox with the memory card slots on the controllers. It wouldn't have to be just like a VMU but a LCD screen that would hook up just like a VMU. It could have been used for other games just like the VMU was. It could be used for baseball so you could choose where to put your pitch in the strike zone w/o your opponent seeing it. There are countless ways it could be used.

No way is 2K going to do that.
As far as bringing in another company to do it, well, it just wouldn't be good business sense. Why cut another company into the piece of the pie when it's really not essential to do so?
2K just needs to make and release the football game.
