It would be great if this was the first game out tha had virtual no collision detection issues, no matter how rare. All games seem to be effected by this in one way or another. Make sure you guys pay special attention to have this game be tight as possible.

Thats why we're all hoping for that one physics engine to be used.

Ya, tahts one issue of the game they should try and get right of the bat. Its the biggest issue in any sports game really, not only football. If they can get it right from the get go or atleast very CLOSE to 'tight', then im happy. But if they use the Euphoria Engine like VInnie_2k3 mentioned, then u can garantuee a great collision engine. We know they can use it for Xbox 360 and PS3 becuase they have the power for it. But until then, we can just hope they do GREAT animations and create a game that will make ur jaws drop.

I hear you guys, but if they want a thousand dollars for the student edition of their program (where you're 'technically' not allowed to use to make money with) can you imagine how much they probably want to use it in an actual game?

I haven't gotten a chance to really get deep into Euphoria, but $1,000 for a student edition is not an outrageous price. Based on that scale, I would only expect the commerical verison to be... what? $10,000? $20,000? That's nothing. Even $50,00 would be considered nothing by industry standards.

Thats true NFL2K. I mean with a company like 2k or EA, they can easily get that price. I think it will be cheaper then doing animation capture or what ever. Maybe im wrong, but what ever it is, Europhia will be a great deal if its around 50 000$. Its just pennys and nickels for them big companies.

For some reason I just see these guys wanting alot more than that for it. I could be wrong but I'm just saying I see them wanting ALOT of dough.

Well, if I were Euphoria I'd probably ask for a lot, too. But it would be tough for them to justify charging somebody like me or you $10,000 but charging 2K $250,000 for the same product. Sure, they could come up with a volume licensing structure, but it would be BS and they'd never get companies to go along with it.
Euphoria's best bet would be to raise the price for everybody, and probably get rid of the student edition altogether.

Everyone's so high about the Euphoria engine and it looks great, but has anyone actually seen it being used in anything besides the company demos?
What games use this engine?
I can't recall any, so maybe 2K could get it cheaper because the company is looking for a high profile title to use it. If All Pro uses it and it rocks, that will generate sales to other developers. They could also use some of the cash they aren't paying the NFL...

Well, 2K8 is not going to sport the engine, that's for sure. If this game is to come out this summer, things like this have been worked out a long time ago. Who is to say however, that 2K doesn't have something as good or better? We'll see.

That's true, whatever engine they are using had to be decided upon a long time ago.
But an actual physics-based game engine sounds awfully good.

I forgot that I heard that somewhere. Well, maybe they are using it. But I'll say that if they haven't put it in already, they aren't going to do it now.

euphoria will make their money through trademarks....Initially they wont really charge that much because they dont want to deter any developers...You dont want to price yourself out of the market do ya?...Another thing to keep in mind is that sooner or later similiar technologies will be released - happpens all the time....2k could even have their own proprietory "euphoria-like" engine - wont be surprised if they have been developing their own......I say screw the NFL and EA...we played 2k5 with outdated rosters for 2 years u think we care?

Who plays with outdated rosters? I don't.
Why would you do that when there are tons of updated rosters out there to use(?)... for free.

Found one!
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be using the Euphoria engine. The demo shows the developers literally throwing stormtroopers into a set of rafters to see which ones stick.

Virtually no collision detection issues? I'll believe it when I see it.
