So, throwing the ball downcourt and getting layups everytime is fair? What about taking the best ball-handlers in the game and crossing your way through the lane for a layup everytime, and everytime you try to stop him its a foul?

Get over yourself, please, some people, like myself, go online to play a somewhat sim game. And usually it starts off good with most, but when they start losing, they start doing these stupid things. It is cheesing if there is no conceivable way to prevent something from happening. Thats why I didn't wanna join Pontiac, to many people do it, and its not fun to those who want to play the game the way it should be played. Sure, everyone wants to win, but is ruining the sport of basketball worth the cost? I guess its my fault that I play and officiate basketball and appreciate the way it should be played, and not the way these attention-grabbing people want it to. I think part of the problem is that the online level is at a difficulty way to low. Unless you are controlling the players on defense, its impossible to stop some of these moves. And for the record, we cannot control all 5 players at once. If the AI was cranked way up, the computer defensive players could acutally do something besides letting players run around him.

Now, I have no direct involvement in this considering I have never played Norcal. However, everytime I'm in the advanced lobby, people always complaining about him "cheating." Is it a coincidence? I do not have the answer to that question. I just think that 2k definetly needs to revise the game before putting it out next year. Have the defense get back. You can run right by the defense for a bomb even without the press. Sure we could all do it, but whats the fun in that? I'm sorry that I find it more fun to jog down the court, and run a play with the offense, looking for a pick and roll or a screen for a 3, not a dunk every single time. In the context of the game, that is cheesing, if only one person is doing it of course. If both players are doing it, of course it is a different story.

The thing that bugs me the most about these people is when they finish a game, you rank them. Usually, since their only saving grace was running around my defense every time, I give them a neutral for abusing some exploits. I have never heard so many people cry in my life. They leave you dirty messages about how its not cheating and how its part of the game, cussing at you the whole time. These people have brought their art to a whole new level. They spend their time trying to figure out how to screw the common person over.

Please 2K, eliminate this problem from online games, or at least minimize so us sim players have a chance online.

I've never played against Norcal so i will neither defend nor go against him, but I have noticed that people will: 1. Lag the game in order to get a better shot at winning, 2. Pause during free throws, 3. Do that stupid jump stop into the lane and you can't really stop them. Whereas, yes it is annoying, but instead of coming here and complaining about these things come up with a strategy to counteract them. That's what I have done and I'm ranked 43 currently, mainly since I haven't played for a few days. All I have to say is that please don't come here and complain about something that you can easily fix yourself. For example, if they are going to jump stop into the lane everytime, then meet them out on the 3-point line and make it so that he can't get around you, and he will eventually lose handle on the ball. If they are pausing on a free throw it won't pause when you are actually doing the shot, so it won't have any effect on the actual release time. Finally, if they are making the game lag, most likely they are lagging to, and probably don't have too much skill. I've experienced many people try to lag the game agaisnt me and I don't let it get to me and I instead destroy them with fast breaks. That's all I have to say on the matter. Please don't disqualify NorCal unless you plan on dq'ing almost all of the top players on the ladders.

P.S. I don't use any of those glitches named above, they are to noobish and require no talent to do them. Try getting skills if you have to resort to such a pathetic way of winning please.

you should get on your 360 and try playin him...his games not as easy to handle as it sounds...he uses ohio state...jumpstops in the paint with oden...does the step over move (triple threat) which moves your defender out of the way then dunks it...if youre good and he feels like he wont be able to beat you he will intentionally foul you and pause and lag during your free throws...a game with him takes about 2 hrs cuz he constantly pauses and replays...some times he doesnt even replay a play thats replay worthy...he just does stuff to annoy you...it would be a mockery of a tournament with him in it...i would never want to play him...even if you get the win he consumes like 2hrs oot of your life...you can get 3 games in in the time it takes to suffer through a game with him..

Hop-stepping and spinning is not cheating. Throwing the ball on fast breaks is not cheating......GET BACK ON DEFENSE INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. Its not like you can fast break every time, thats the weakest argument I've heard (the fast-breaking is cheating argument).

Pausing during free-throws and lagging IS CHEATING. Those are two things that are not naturally built into the game (they are not meant to be used during gameplay). Hopstepping, Spinning, and fastbreaks ARE NATURALLY BUILT INTO THE GAME THEREFORE THEY ARE NOT CHEATING.

Look, people, Marcus is right. While their are unfortunately ways to not play a true "sim" game--these tactics are not cheating. However, it just means you need to learn ways to stop them.

I am online every night playing a couple of games to see what's going on in the lobbies. (My ranking is awful, you guys are too good for me.) I love a good sim game, even when I lose. We are aware of these "exploits" in the game--the hop step, for example--and we try to elimiate them from year to year. But you plug one hole in the dam, and another one opens. It's just the nature of the beast. There is nothing worse than wanting a good sim game and getting some cheeser who wants to hop-step with Oden or Noah all day.

Now, all of that said, there are definite ways of CHEATING--several of them mentioned above in this thread. Not to give away all of our secrets to tell if someone is cheating--but while there is not spectator mode in the game, one thing we can do is look at how long it takes to play a game. If someone is getting a lot of complaints about pausing the game or playing unnecessary replays--basically drawing a game out to take 3 or 4 times the length of an average game--we can track that sort of stuff. We have game logs, we know a lot of what happens in your game. Get enough complaints and you will be amazed how deep we can dig.

Now. believe it or not, we are reasonably intelligent over here. We can sniff out plain old jealousy; someone just miffed over a tough loss. We oursleves are on there playing--though you will never know it is one of us. We know a lot of you hardcore online players personally whose opinions we trust.

Serial cheaters will be caught and dealt with harshly. It may not be immediate, for the wheels of justice turn slowly. Now, NorCal, I am not saying that you are cheating. I have not played you personnally. But NorCal, I know what some trusted online players (both here at 2K and not) have told me about your "method" of play (note I say "method" not "tactics"--hop step all you want, etc. there is nothing wrong with that), and I know what facts my Admin can dig up from game logs, and I can tell you that based on his post, you are definitely on thin ice.

Norcal IS a cheater. If was just doing hopsteps/Spins he wouldnt be a cheater(just a hardcore cheeser who scores 90%+ of his points under the rim)....even tho that alone should get him booted.

But he does more than that, he does the hopstep/spin, the he starts jab stepping to SLIDE/TRAVEL closer to the rim to dunk(CHEATING).

It's a game exploit....and theres is no adjusting to the travel glitch. The ref will never blow his whistle for traveling due to the player dragging his feet(the programming isnt there yet).

Also...pausing on FT's and pausing when your opponent is inbounding the ball so they cant move or pass the ball to who they want to is CHEATING!

Norcal, glad to hear it. If all you are doing is hopstepping and taking a non-sim approach to the game--then you should have no worries about getting banned during the tournament! Relax.

But be forewarned--the 4 finalists in Indy last year were ALL straight-up sim players to the man. True sim players. They got by all the non-sim players and made it to the finals.

I played NORCAL a week ago, he put GREEN of georgetown the starting PF at pg, and around in circles til he could get close to lane and spin and went into 2handed slam, if the game didnt drop at halftime he was about to get killed. I have been playing 2k choops since 2k5, back then it was the quik post, 2k6 it was the reverse dunk and 2k7 its this spin BS...ppl say u can stop it, which not always true. i used kentucky with a 90plus lowpost defender and a 99 shot blocker. but once the offensive man spins its almost like he goes through the defender into the dunk animation. he scored 33pts vs me ALL 33pts were from green spinning and going into 2handed dunk. I have played the best and consider myself one of the best and i play as str8 up as possible, the only way to defend spin is preventing them from getting to paint. Alot of stuff ppl say is cheese is subjective, but doing sumthing EVERY single time down court bs. just think if sum picked tennesse and used quik shot release with lofton and his 99 3 rating...just because something is in the game doesnt mean it's not a exploit. Just like when ppl press they bring 4 defenders in front court to trap 2 guys. in real bball this would be a easy basket for offense everyplay because center is seating under goal, but on choops the game penalizes the offense for trying to throw a long pass vs that cheesy press tactic.

I'm glad someone understood and has seen my previous points. Usually its the chessers sticking up for themselves on here, because they know what they are doing is stupid. Especially when I try to play sim with a lower level team and I'm playing Ohio St. with Oden. Its nearly impossible to stop, and everytime you go for the block is a foul. People do this all the time, and I'm glad I'm not the only person who can come on here and spit it out and then get told that your not good enough to play the game. Someones always going to find and use an exploit during the course of the game, but I'm tired of being the Providence Friars and trying to play Florida, NC, or Ohio St., and people just going through the lane all day cuz theres no way to stop it. How is my player with a ranking of 74 (Geoff McDermott) supposed to stop Joakim Noah's spinning and hopsteps through the lane. If there is an open lane, thats one thing, but all people do is sit in the lane and hop step and run around until they get the dunk. Its stupid. These people need to learn how to play basketball, it will make the game more fun all-around. Unless your Florida facing Grambling, there is a limited chance of stopping these moves.

And for the people saying "Get Back on Defense to avoid a long pass down the court." You can only use turbo with one player, and when its one on one between the users at the other end of the court, its nearly impossible to stop him without a foul. You can't take the charge cuz they run around you. Its stupid, people can say its part of the game all they want, but its ridiculous, and I can't wait for all these fools to get embarrased at the Final 4.

I'm not calling these players out as cheaters or anything, but I'm tired of people doing "substitutions" as I am about to do my free throws, when the screen for subs had just popped up. Its stupid. I want to play the game the way it should be played, and I'm hoping the Prophet can take it home because he's one of the only peeps in the Top 20 who plays legit.

well UF can be beat with true sim ball i did it with Grambling @ UF you have to stay true to the game....i did have to go to OT to do it and it cost me a bunch of spots in tourny but it was worth it to figure out how to shut UF down With a weaker teams there are 2 ppl you have to stop and its not Noah.........Norcal if you do get into tourny i hope you get a team with a 6-8 center then we wont have to worry about you cheating your way through ive played alot of different ppl and the cheeser will occasionally beat me but the sim players are by far the toughest....thats why im one of them......

Stop the spin by being a good stealer and steal while he is spinning. Or you can deny the pass to his spinners. You can also block the dunks. I beat NorCal about a month ago. Then he beat me recently. Prophet you probably don't have the skills to beat this guy. It takes somebody like me when I'm on.

So here is the explanation....when you beat me by 40 I had just gotten this game and would have lost by 40 to anybody with halfway decent skills. I got a little better and the 2nd game we played I lost by 8 at your place (close game the whole way, you just pulled away at the very end despite how you lie about the game being a blowout). We played with even teams. Now I am even better than I was when you beat me by 8. I honestly think I would destroy you now. But you the type that beats somebody you know is good then dont give them a rematch so you can talk sh** forever. Thats little boy style. Thats weak man. You need to give rematches to people instead of running.

Prophet also requires "conditions" to his games. He can't just play a game. You can't play with Florida, HO won't play Florida even though Kansas and NC and even Arizona are just as good. Not like Florida is better than those other 89 teams. I feel your pain. This is the first 2k game I've owned. I played 2 games against beginners and won both, so I challenged ProphetHo to see if I was any good. He was Kentucky at home, and I was Indiana. I kept it close for most of the first-half, but then he decided to put the press on for the rest of the game. I had never even seen the press yet because neither of the beginners used it at all. He ended up pulling away because I had no idea how to beat the press, and he never turned the press off for the rest of the game. He just racked up the score. Then in the lobby, he talked trash to me. Stop the spin by being a good stealer and steal while he is spinning. Or you can deny the pass to his spinners. You can also block the dunks. I beat NorCal about a month ago. Then he beat me recently. Prophet you probably don't have the skills to beat this guy. It takes somebody like me when I'm on.

Prophet of course you will say that you beat me by 40 and then 8. I can't type fast enough in the lobbies to answer your constant verbal attacks at me....cuz I don't have a keyboard for the 360.

So here is the explanation....when you beat me by 40 I had just gotten this game and would have lost by 40 to anybody with halfway decent skills. I got a little better and the 2nd game we played I lost by 8 at your place (close game the whole way, you just pulled away at the very end despite how you lie about the game being a blowout). We played with even teams. Now I am even better than I was when you beat me by 8. I honestly think I would destroy you now. But you the type that beats somebody you know is good then dont give them a rematch so you can talk sh** forever. Thats little boy style. Thats weak man. You need to give rematches to people instead of running.

Prophet also requires "conditions" to his games. He can't just play a game. You can't play with Florida, HO won't play Florida even though Kansas and NC and even Arizona are just as good. Not like Florida is better than those other 89 teams. He won't play "cheesers" because he has no skills to stop them.. spinning can be contained, hop step can be contained, etc. if you are a great player which prophet is good but not great.

Finally (I have to talk here because when I'm in the lobby prophet ho does nothing but attack me verbally because he is jealous of how good i am) he has to play at home against certain players. He wont play me at my place for anything because he is just scared and thats how he is. In the tourney you won't be able to keep hiding HO.

1. our first u kept harrasing me saying how u killed 5 top 10 guys and i was overrated, i let this go on for a few days then i gave you a game. u literally hopstepped in lane every posession taking no jumpers after about 20 blocks and close to a 50pts lead you pulled. now u say i had just got the game,lol

2. our second game was basically samething i had a 20pts lead the whole game and he hit some junk 3's to get the score down around 8pts.

3. i normally use teams 75 or below, so NO IM NOT PLAYING FLORIDA...its not that i cant beat florida but why make the game EASIER FOR YOU!!! I dont use high teams so im not grabbing kansas, unc or any1 else highest team ill use is 82. I havent lost one game this year vs. florida, zona, unc yet.

4. I play ppl with good feedback regardless of your record if you over 90 ill give you a game. I PLAY CHEESERS but if you gonna be a cheeser I NEED INCENTIVE, have a better rank than me or close to it...DONT CHEESE and be ranked 500 and wont a game, because I KNOW IM GOING TO GET A NEG VOTE for stopping ur cheese.

I agree spectator mode should be in the game it would allow 2k to see and understand why everyone is so upset about this. I play norcal once....and it was my worst online experience period and I've owned 2k games since nba 2k first dropped an been online since i was able to with the brand. Having that mode in the game would also allow people to view game between others I've had some classic games on here an it would be nice to let people watch them as well as see others.

I played MICHIGAN1319 dude sent me a friend request so i thought game would be str8, NOT. I'm up 13pts game is going fine I'm honestly thinking how is dude record so good he's average player at best.
