Devils Shatter Bruins hopes at a Win

After a Mike Knuble slapshot from the faceoff dot in the first period setup by captain Joe Thornton, and Glen Murray, the Bruins led the rest of the game hanging on by Raycroft's glove, blocker, and pads as he played terrifically stopping 33 of the 34 shots launched on him. Boston was getting excitied late in the third that they might have a home opener win versus the team that beat them out of the playoffs last season the New Jersey Devils. Razor (Andrew Raycroft) held on to the puck when he was swarmed with devils around the net, Boston called a quick time out to discuss who would take the faceoff and they decided on Travis Green, unfortunately he lost the draw to Sergei Brylin who passed it to Jamie Langenbrunner who shot it roof on Raycroft's blocker side, killing the Bruins chances to take this game in regulation. Nothing was solved in OT with both teams only getting 3 shots a peice.

"We played a good defensive game, we couldn't capitalize on our scoring chances, Razor supported us the whole game and he deserved the win. We are going to try to get it for him next game," said captain Joe Thornton after the game.

Boston Ties Again

In a game that saw ten total goals you'd think that you would see a winner!? Well you didn't. Both goalies played below par where Raycroft stopped 30 of the 35 shots launched on him and the Bulin Wall stopped 29 of the 34 shots he seen, Tampa's John Grahame seen minimum amount of time stopping the 3 shots he seen in OT. Tampa's main scorer was on his game tonight, yes I'm talking about Marty St.Louis he had 4 goals and 1 assist, what a night for him, Brad Richards notched a goal on the PP aswell. Boston's goals came from Brian Rolston, Mike Knuble and P.J. Axelsson who both scored 2. This was the Bruins second straight OT game.

"I was very disapointed in our boys defensivly tonight. Not just pointing out on my dmen my forwards aswell, they looked like they were depending on Razor and our dmen to get them the puck. Believe me at our next practise we will be working on team defence," stated coach Mike Sullivan at the post game press conference.

Trade Rumor

It is rumored that Boston's Dan McGillis will be sent packing to Columbus for young prospect Nikolai Zherdev. McGillis who was picked up from the Flyers last season at the trade deadline will likely be playing with Luke Richardson. The Blue Jackets need size and if this trade is made they will definetely be getting it. Boston would be recieving a very good offensive defencemen who would most likely be playing with J.Slegr at first and when he gets used to playing at this level he would probably play with fellow offensive defencemen Sergei Gonchar.

"To be honest I didn't even know that we were going to do this trade. But we feel that we have enough size on our d-line and we need more offence coming from them. Nikolai would fit in great with Jiri (Slegr) and we would feel privelidged to have a young player like Zherdev on our team. Dan will be missed from our team but that's just part of the game." said Coach Mike Sullivan after his team came off the ice from the morning practice in Florida this morning.

Done Deal

That's it the deal is done! Nikolai Zherdev is officially a Bruin. He was traded for D Dan McGillis and D Jonathan Girard. He is expected to be in the lineup for the game against the Florida Panthers.

"I think it is a great move for us. We get young talent that can lead us in years to come. I wish Dan and John great luck in the West with the Columbus blue Jackets," quoted Glen Murray this afternoon after the deal was announced.

"I wish I could stay with the Bruins for longer than I did. But I guess this is life and you can't choose what is going to happen next." said Dan McGillis before he got on the plane to Columbus.

Overtime Again?

For the third straight game the Boston Bruins have gone into overtime. This time with the Florida Panthers. The Bruins decided to give Felix Potvin his first start of the season and as a Bruin. It was a scoreless game headed into the third, but only two minutes in Donald Audette popped home a goal and gave the Panthers alot of confidence. But only three minutes later the Panthers take a penalty and Sergei Samsonov made a sweet deke right off the faceoff draw that was won by Marty Lapointe. One minute after that Florida's Lyle Odelein took a penalty for hooking and right away the Bruins PP went to work as Patrice Bergeron received a sweet pass from Samsonov and laced home a wrister for his first career NHL goal, Nikolai Zherdev also picked up a point (assist) on that goal. Boston was getting confident going into the last five minutes but then The Cat let out a huge rebound and Jarno Kulnik made a diving effort at it and poked it home. Yes you guessed it overtime again :( . For the third straight game overtime solved nothing.

"When I seen that rebound I just made a effort to try to tip it in the net. I knew that the Cat was going to make a effort to try and stop it so I dove flailing my stick and it connected, it was the best goal I have scored of my career," commented Jarno Kolnik on his game tying beautiful goal.

Boston Wins! Boston Wins!

Finally after three grueling overtimes the Bruins picked up there first win of the season. Late in the first the Stars popped two quick goals coming from Brendan Morrow, and Bill Guerin. Early in the second Sergei Samsonov made a good effort driving in and poked home his second goal of the season, and late in the second Brian Rolston made it 2-2 going into the third, well that's what they thought. The Stars quickly answered with two goals in the last minute just 14 seconds apart they came from cap'n Mike Modano and Pierre Turgeon. Boston knew that they had to come out agressive in the third and who else to set a example than "Captain Crunch" Joe Thornton with a B-E-A-Utiful backhand over Turco's shoulder. Soon after that Samsonov recieved a nice pass from Patrice Bergeron and scored his second of the game, that was the goal that drove Turco from the net, he was replaced by Ron Tugnutt. With a minute and a half left the Bruins were thinking overtime AGAIN, but on a horrible change by the Stars Nikolai Zherdev was coming on from a Bruins change and he took the pass from P.J Axelsson and made a nice manual deke goal winning the game for the Bruins!

(Translated from Russian)
"I just heard P.J yell my name when I was coming off the bench I looked and seen a nice pass coming my way so I went with it. It was the first goal of my career and I will remember it forever," mumbled Nikolai Zherdev after his big goal.

Bruins versus the Kings. Overtime bound!

Once again the Bruins go into overtime with there opponent and come out with a tie. Felix got another start but he ends up with the same result as last time. They just can't seem to get the win. LA's Alex Frolov scored in the first as well as Michael Nylander. Frolov got on the score sheet once again in the second with the second goal of the game, Brian Rolston had a beauty goal in the second aswell. The other goals in the second were Trent Klatt and Mike Knuble. There was no scoring in the third or overtime.

"I can't belive this! We play a good game and I think we deserve the two points but we just can't score that winning goal. I think we have to give our goalies better defence and maybe that will turn into a few wins," spoke Bruins Defencemen Nick Boynton after the game.

700 Pound Line Goes to Work on Ducks

Boston iludes another overtime late in the third with a nice goal from Mike Knuble which was his second goal of the game. The scoring started in the first period when Brian Rolston made a quick move to the net and put it right over Giggy's shoulder on the PP. In the second the Ducks wasted no time at all getting on the board early with a goal from Peter Sykora, but the Bruins quickly answered with a goal of there own from Glen Murray. Krog scored a fluke goal from the blue line that was meant to be a pass but was redirected by Bruins big man Hal Gill. 35 seconds into the third the Bruins went up again with Mike Knuble's first goal of the game but then the always dangerous Peter Sykora broke in on a brakeaway and put home his second of the game. With 9:50 left in the game the 700 pound line went to work Thornton took a nice feed from Murray and then pass it to Knuble who one-timed it into the back of the net. The 700 pound line had a total of seven points tonight, Thornton(1 assist), Murray(1 goal, 2 assists), and Mike Knuble(2 goals, 1 assist).

"I guess we were just on tonight, our defence was mediocore and our offence was good. I think in upcoming games we have to play more solid defence if we want more wins like we got tonight," spoke Mike Knuble after there win Sunday versus the Ducks.

Final Score: Boston 4 Anaheim 3

Bruins, Avs Draw Even
Note: I am using a new format for this game. If I like it I will continue using it. Let me know what you think about it.

1st Period
The first period was very back and fourth momentum wise, both teams fired shots on the goalies. Brad Boyes played in his 2nd game as a Bruins and he made a statement. He fought two times in this period, 1 with Adam Foote which Boyes won, and the other with Tangauy which he also won. You would think that Boston would carry the momentum for the rest of the period well that didn't really happen. With 40 seconds left in the period Peter Forsberg scored on a gaping net that was left open by "The Cat" when he tried to play the puck around the net.

Score: 1-0 Avalanche

2nd Period
The second period wasn't full of excitement like the first was, both teams played defence this frame and there wasn't many scoring chances. The best chance for the Bruins was when Michael Nylander rang a backhander off the goalpost. The Avs only managed to get three shots this period as they were in there zone for most of this one. Glen Murray took a stupid penalty mid-way through the period, when Aebisher went to play the puck behind the net Murray took a run at him and knocked him over which resulted in a charging penalty, the penalty will be reviewed by Colin Campbell tommorow and the status of Murray will be seen.

Score: 1-0 Avalanche

3rd Period
The third period was intense, both teams had odd man rushes numerous times and could not capitalize on there chances. This night was truly a goalies night. Half way through the third Adam Foote took a bad tripping penalty and the Bruins went to work, Sergei Gonchar went behind the net and seen big Joe Thornton out front of the net and passed it right to him and Thornton went "Roof Daddy" on Aebisher which made it a one all game. The rest of the third was all defence and little scoring chances. Overtime here we come.....again!

Score: 1-1 Tie

OT
The Bruins dominated OT but Aebisher was his dominent self as the Bruins witnessed all game long. OT solved nothing so the Bruins finished of this road trip 2-0-4-0.

"We tried and tried but Aebisher was stone wall in net tonight. We definetely miss Sergei (Samsonov) but Boyes played awesome and we hope that he will play as well as he did when he is needed again," said Joe Thornton after the Bruins one all draw vs that Avs.

Final Score 1-1

Player of the Game
David Aebisher(COL)- 27SA, 26S

Boston Wins first game at Home

1st Period
Boston came out flying on there home ice, where it is there first game there in six games. They played dominent on defence aswell as offence only allowing six shots on the rookie goaltender Andrew Raycroft. Carolina had some trouble containing the Bruins in there own end letting 15 shots on Kevin Weekes. Boston had most of the chances in this period and will try to keep the momentum they built up going into the second frame.

Score: 0-0 Tie

2nd Period
Once again the Bruins dominated this period. They sure brought there forechecking game tonight, they just wouldn't give up on the play no matter what and it paid off. First Joe Thornton nailed Carolina's enforcer Erik Cole, and took the puck off him and feathered a beauty pass right to Mike Knuble who had to do no work but just tip it in the net. A few minutes later Martin Lapointe poke checked it off of Justin Williams and gave it to Rolston at the point who made a quick snap shot that went 5-hole on Kevin Weekes. With that goal Boston takes a two goal lead for the first time all season, also they once again carried the momentum this period and looked huge on both ends of the ice. They will head into the third looking for there third win of the season.

Score: 2-0 Bruins

3rd Period
This period was the most even of the three, both teams had many chances and alot of time was spent battling at mid ice. Boston had a early goal scored by Captain Joe. After that goal I think Boston got a little bit cocky and found themselves playing a more defensive period. As result of this Carolina scored on a one-timer that was setup by Rod Brind'Amour right to Erik Cole. The Canes didn't let up on the Bruins capitalizing on all of there mistakes, Craig Adams took a wild shot from the side of the net that was tipped by Rod Brind'Amour making this a one goal game. Boston got a little scared that they might be blowing this one until Jiri Slegr deked Weekes right out of his jock strap going from his forehand to his backhand in a matter of seconds and put it right through his (Weekes) legs.

"We played fantastic defence in the first period but I think that we laid down for them in the third period and they took advantage of it. Next game we will make a mental note to play all three periods on defence and not just two," commented Sean O'Donnel after tonights 4-2 win against the Canes.

Final Score Boston 4- Carolina 2

Brodeur Shines as Devils overtake Bruins

1st Period
If you thought this was going to be a physical game you were right both teams played solid tough defence and tried to exploit the chances they got on offence. It seemed the Devils were the team that had more scoring oppertunities and they were very good on the forecheck. Boston did not play a bad period but they didn't play one as strong as they did in Boston versus the Hurricanes. On Jersey's best chance of the period they took advantage of it. Sergei Brylin noticed a screened Raycroft and looked to see who he had in front of the net and it was Jeff Friesen. He through a heavy pass right to Friesen and Jeff put it upstairs on "Razor" and Boston went down after that. They were basically in there end for the last couple minutes of the period. Boston will try to even it up next period.

Score: 1-0 Devils

2nd Period
The Devils came out for what looked in the early going was going to be another good period for them as they started off nicely with a Patrick Elias goal that seemed to give the Bruins more jump in there play though. The Bruins looked good after the second goal by the Devils and it the hard work paid off. Michael Nylander took a pass from Sergei Gonchar and then Nylander gave it to Sergei Samsonov who made another gorgeous deke on Brodeur and put it right through Brodeur's armpit. Boston looked to be the better team after this goal but Marty was shutting them down making back to back diving saves to keep his Devils in it. Raycroft also was good making a nifty toe save on a Devils breakaway. Boston will try to make a sucessful comeback in the third period.

Score: 2-1 Devils

3rd Period
Boston came out this period with all intentions to win this game, and the way they played it, it looked like they were going to take it. Sergei Samsonov played what has to be his best performance of this season so far from any Bruin. He had numerous chances and didn't give up on the puck once all period. He even made a attempt at a diving shot that almost made it through except for Brodeur's pads. Marty Brodeur played such a stellar game stopping everything that the Bruins fired at his this period and he deserved the win.

"Well Sergei Samsonov was the guy I watched when he was on the ice because he was by far the Bruins biggest competetor out there tonight. His game was on and it was hard to stop all those shots he blistered at me. I think we are lucky to come out with a win tonight, and we will have to prepare more for next time we play them. They aren't the Bruins from last season I'll tell you that," spoke Devils goaltender Martain Brodeur after an amazing performance in his 5th of the season.

Final Score Boston 1 Devils 2

Player of the Game
Martin Brodeur(NJ)- 28SA, 27S

Comeback win for the Beantown Boys

Note: Andrew Raycroft had to start this game because Felix Potvin had the flu and was unable to get the nod. He will start next game against the Habs at the Fleet Centre.

1st Period
The Habs knew that if they wanted to take a victory tonight they would have to get on "Razor" early and that is exactly what they did. They had many flurries which included six of there eight first period shots in the first four minutes. But Raycroft was up to the challenge and after that seige he made a pass to Sean O'Donnell who was going off for a change and Sean passed it to the rookie Patrice Bergeron who flew into the Habs zone with tons of speed and he put it home on the Bruins first shot of the game. After that the Bruins dominated in all aspects of the game and look good going into the second period.

Score 1-0 Bruins

2nd Period
You would think with a one goal lead going into the second with all the momentum you would carry the play in the second. Wrong. Montreal came out flying in this second frame scoring often this period. The Habs captain got Montreal on the board early with a goal very similar to Patrice Bergeron's tally in the first. A few minutes after, Montreal was threating again when Yanic Perreault popped home his first of the game giving Montreal there first lead of the Hockey game. The pace slowed down a little bit after, but then Montreal struck once again when Saku Koivu gave Yanic Perreault a easy cross ice feed and he put it top shelf on "Razor". Montreal looks to be the better team tonight, and take this victory of the first of the home and home series.

Score 3-1 Canadiens

3rd Period
If you bought a ticket for this game you sure got your moneys worth! Montreal fans had all the confidence in the world in there team going into the third with a two goal lead. Boston wanted to rid the Habs of that confidence before going back to the Fleet Centre and they sure did that. Boston destroyed the Habs this period coming out shooting pucks, crunching bodies, and if your a hockey fan you know that is the formula for winning hockey games. Patrice Bergeron got a quick pass from Michael Nylander and proceeded to put it top shelf on Theodore. After this Boston just wouldn't let up and Nylander got a goal off a deflection on Habs D-man Sheldon Souray tieing this game. Can you believe it? This game looked to be heading to overtime but then Boston's captain decided it was his turn to step it up. Thornton took a offensive zone faceoff and he lost it but Koivu won it back to nobody and Thornton went after it and played it hard, he took long strides to the net and went glove side on Theodore putting the Bruins up 4-3 late in the third. That was the goal that sent Theodore packing and the Canadiens brought in rookie goaltender Matteau Garon. Raycroft did not have to face many shots this period as Montreal only sent on three week shots on Andrew.

Final Score: Boston 4 Montreal 3

"Well I did not have to face alot of shots in the third but the other two periods I felt I let my team down but I will try to play my hardest next game that I start," stated Andrew Raycroft as he spoke to press after the Bruins big comeback win.

Big Joe Comes Through in the Clutch

Note: Montreal's Captain Saku Koivu was injured last game with a wrist injury and will not play this game. He is expected back in the lineup in one to two weeks.

1st Period
This first period looked like last games first period, Boston had alot of momentum but they weren't the first to pop one this time. Yanic Perreault is a Bruin killer, last game he tallied for 2 goals and 1 assist, and he was the first player to get on the score sheet this period. He took advantage of a bad Bruins change and got his 7th goal of the season making it a 1-0 Montreal lead. But this lead was short lived because Sergei Samsonov said try and catch me but nobody could as he then proceeded to take a shot and score on Jose Theodore. Late in the frame Montreal's Sheldon Souray took a hooking penalty and Boston made them pay for that, Samsonov once again played can't touch me and he gave Michael Nylander a beauty pass and he shot it right through Theodore's legs. You can tell Montreal is missing there Captain Saku Koivu because he is one of the best play makers in the league. Boston takes a miniscule advantage going into the second.

Score 2-1 Boston

2nd Period
This period was full of Bruin shots and hits from both of the squads. This game is more evenly played than the first game of this series. Boston's "700 Pound Line" played a great period using both there size and there talent. But Boston just couldn't beat Jose Theodore. Montreal did not have a shot until six minutes in to the period and that shot counted. Jan Bulis scored on a one-timer setup from behind the net by Richard Zednik. That was the only goal of the period. It will be interesting to see how this game turns out.

Score 2-2 Tie

3rd Period
This period was played with tons of skill and offensive chances. Both teams looked for a victory to gain some ground in there respected divisions. Boston looked to be the better team throughout this period, having more chances than the Habs. There was about a minute to go and it looked like the Bruins were going to goto overtime for the sixth time this season but then Glen Murray was skating intensly down the ice and he spotted a wide open Joe Thornton and Joe wound up and took the feed and slapped her passed Jose Theodore, the goal came with 30 seconds left in the game. With the win Boston goes on a two game winning streak.

Final Score: Boston 3 Montreal 2

Bruins Two Game Winning Streak Come to a End

1st Period
If you thought this was going to be a even match. You were wrong. Boston came out with no intentions of letting up on the suffering Pens. Glen Murray got a early goal which was his second of the season. After that goal Boston continued to play rough and tough. But Pittsburgh got a luck one from Mike Eastwood when he came out of the penalty box and caught the Bruins flat footed. Even with that goal Pittsburgh seemed scared and Boston took advantage of that. Joe Thornton scored a quick goal on a manual deke and that sure killed all the momentum that the Pens had, it wasn't much to start off with. The fourth line came out crunching bodies like they were supposed to and the guy that you would least suspect to score a goal did. Doug Doull almost exactly repeated Joe Thornton's goal. Boston is looking good going into the second period and will look to continue dominating this game.

Score: 3-1 Bruins

2nd Period
Once again Boston looked like the better team out there. But they couldn't beat all-star rookie goaltender Mark-Andre Fleury who has started his third game of the season his current record is 2GP, 2W. They launched numerous amout of shots on him but he was diving all over the place. There was one goal this period and it wasn't by a Bruin. It was by old timer Kelly Buchberger he just gave a easy backhander on Potvin. Boston is still looking controlling but if they want to win "The Cat" has to look stronger in goal for them.

Score: 3-2 Boston

3rd Period
They say your best defenceman is your goaltender. Well then Boston has Potvin in net there defence is pretty weak. After letting in a weak goal to Kelly Buchberger in the second Potvin has done it again. He let in another week wrister to Kelly Buchberger again blowing the Bruins 3-1 lead. Boston's offence and defence have looked good just Potvin hasn't at all. The Bruins couldn't beat Fleury and now they will have to see what they can do in overtime.

Score: 3-3 Tie

Overtime
I guess it's a good thing that the Penguins got no shots on Felix in overtime. Boston had the majority of chance but just could not beat the rookie goaltender.

"I just had a chat with the goaltending coach during the first intermission and he told me that everything was going to be fine and not get down on myself for that shaky first. I took his advice and pretended nothing happend and I guess 1 point is better than no points," said Mark-Andre Fleury after his first career tie vs the Bruins.

The Boston Bruins have traded away goaltender Felix "The Cat" Potvin and winger Craig MacDonald to the Chicago Blackhawks for goaltender Jocelyn Thibault, and two draft picks (5th, 7th).

"We feel that Felix just wasn't playing like he wanted to be out there. Jocelyn is a veteran who we feel still has some all-star years left in him. He will be getting the nod against the Sharks and we'll see how he does," reported Bruins Head Coach Mike Sullivan after the deal was made.

Bruins Bite Shark Bait in OT

1st Period
This period was not for the fake hearted. It was full of bitterness, you would think that a Bruins and Shark game would just be your average hockey game but this was a hard hitting period. Both teams are going to need an ice pack before the start of the second period. There is one goal to tell you about and it was in favour of San Jose. Curtis Brown took the initial shot and Joclyn Thibault who was playing his first game as a Bruin and the season, let out a juicy rebound and the Sharks leading scorer Patrick Marleau jumped all over it and made this a one nothing game. Heading into the second you can be sure that there will be more hitting this period because we ended the first in a little scruff.

Score: 1-0 Sharks

2nd Period
This period was just like the first period some more big hits and one that cost the Bruins big time! Brian Rolston was decked by former Bruins Kyle McLaren and he went to the ice in obvious pain with a leg injury, he is expected to be out 2-4 Months. Boston did get on the board though, Hal Gill was battling in front of the net and he lost the puck but right to Michael Nylander who then proceeded to put it upstairs on Nabokov. San Jose dominated the last few minutes and Boston could not get it out of there zone. Thibault was magnificant in goal and the Bruins fans got behind him chanting "Thibault, Thibault". Boston will try to have a more offensive period and less in there end.

Score: 1-1

3rd Period
This period was full of chippy hits from both teams. Maybe one of the dirtiest hits I have ever seen was when P.J Axelsson was winding up for a slapper Kyle McLaren came up behind him and gave him a clothesline from behind. Another was when again Kyle McLaren drove Patrice Bergeron right into the goal post. Kris Vernarsky who is playing his first game of the season got the Bruins revenge as he smoked McLaren right into the boards. There wasn't many offensive chances this period and nobody scored. So once again the Bruins will be going to overtime.

Score: 1-1

Overtime
Well this overtime was over before it got going. Boston started this extra frame a man short. But that did not scare Bruins big man Hal Gill as he did a forechecking job that any coach would be proud of. He came over to Vinnie Damphouse and absolutely landbaseded him with a monsterous hip check, he then continued with the puck and put it right past Nabokov for the overtime winner! This was Boston's first overtime win of the season.

"Well we took Brian to the emergency room for x-rays but he demanded that we put the game on the radio on the way over. The x-rays were showed that he had broken his leg in two places. He won't be back in the Bruins lineup for what is expected to be two to four months. He will be going through rehab, and the battler he is, it could be around the two month mark for his return," spoke Bruins trainer Mike Ortiz after reporters asked him on Rolston's injury.

Boston Blasts Off Versus Stars

1st Period
Dallas came out bashing bodies but Boston wouldn't get stupid and fall into their trap. Hal Gill who has played outstanding hockey these last few games also who scored the OT winner last game came out strong again. He drove his big body to the net and buried home his second goal in as many games. Boston looked to be the more dominant team this period and Jocelyn Thibault looked good in his second start in a Bean Town Jersey. Boston will look to have a better period and stay out of penalty trouble because Rolston was there best penalty killer and he is now out.

Score: 1-0 Boston

2nd Period
Dallas looked to have all the momentum at the beginning of the period when Jiri Lehtinen score very early in this period. But Boston had a answer, the 700 pound line. Knuble passed it to Joe who passed it to Murray who slapped it home giving the Bruins the lead once again. Boston didn't look back as they got two key goals from P.J. Axelsson, and Sergei Samsonov. The Bruins look like a team to beat this year and you never know this could be there season to kiss Lord Stanley. But first we will have to see how the third turns out.

Score: 4-1 Boston

3rd Period
Boston was the better team throughout the third dominating this game. They sure played like they want to play in the post-season even though it is still very early in the season. There were two goals to report on this period. Joe Thornton does what he does best which is driving towards the net and beating Tugnutt (who replaced Turco in the second). Then a few minutes after that Jason Arnott came in blistering off the wing and firing home a huge slapper on Thibault giving the Stars minscule hope. Boston came out on top this game, looking better than the Stars all game long.

"I love playing here, in Chicago I didn't have many chances to start because of my off-season injury. But now in this Bruins organization I get plenty of opertunities and I just want to make the best of it and play my heart out," said Joclyn Thibault after picking up his second win of the season.

Boston Sinks Oil Rig

1st Period
Boston came out in this game thinking that they were going to have to use there speed, but they had to quickly draw up a new game plan. Edmonton was bashing bodies, so the Bruins quickly adjusted. Late in the period Martin LaPointe sure sent a message with a bone shattering hit on Jan Rita. But Boston drew blood first, on a goal from big Joe Thornton who has been playing magnificent lately. He just drove to the net and put it on Conklin's short side. Andrew Raycroft who is getting his first start in a while hasn't looked bad on the few shots he has faced. Edmonton will have to be ready for the surging Bruins if they want to win this one.

Score: 1-0 Boston

2nd Period
It was obvious who was the better team out there that period. Edmonton was outstanding they were outplaying, out hitting, and out scoring the Bruins. Edmonton's first goal was scored by Ryan Smyth who one-timed it home on a pass from Radek Dvorak. There second goal was a beautiful shot fake goal from Peter Nedved. Edmonton looks to have the confidence going into the third period with a one goal lead, and Ty Conklin is play a awesome game for them. They are looking for the win and if they keep up the play the way they are going now they should win this one.

Score: 2-1 Edmonton

3rd Period
Edmonton started the period with the momentum but that quickly changed when the rookie Patrice Bergeron got the game tying goal only four minutes into play. After that the period continued like the other two, rough and tough. Jason York took a penalty for hitting from behind but after the whistle Andy Delmore gave York a punishing elbow and knocked him down. When the penalty was over the puck was in Edmonton's end and both teams were going for a line change and Murray decided to stick in the end and he deked out Conklin and beat him on his right side low. After that Boston wouldn't let the Oil out of there zone giving them no chance at a come back.

"Well I know that the addition of Thibault won't let me get as much playing time as I thought I was going to get but that doesn't bother me at all. I love having Jocelyn because we are very confident with him in our goal and I know that if I play bad than he'll have my back, especially come playoff time," said Andrew Raycroft regarding the Thibault situation.

Big Upset In Columbus

1st Period
It seems that Boston took the Blue Jackets a little lightly this game. Columbus was jumping on every chance that they got. Even ex-Bruins Dan McGillis and John Girard got into it someway. McGillis got into a little scruff with Joe Thornton and Joe took no acception nailing him into the boards. But Columbus was all over the Bruins in this frame scoring three goals. The first goal was off a rebound givin up by Raycroft when Todd Marchant jumped all over it, the second was by Rick Nash who flicked one right passed "Razor's" shoulder, and the third was a slow slap shot from Todd Marchant once again. Boston did get one goal, it was from there fourth line, Doull setup a nice easy shot for Kris Vernarsky to pop home for his first of the season. Boston will have to play hard if they want to come back in this one.

Score: 3-1 Columbus

2nd Period
Boston has so far been stunned by the level of play of these Columbus Blue Jackets. They look tired do the Bruins out there, but also they look like they forgot how to play hockey. Andrew Raycroft is trying but he isn't getting alot of help from his defence. Columbus managed to hold onto the lead and add another one. Alex Svitov got a goal on a one-timer from Hyvonen making this a three goal Columbus lead. If Boston wants to come back then they will have to stop the first line of the Blue Jackets, and play more offensive hockey than defensive.

Score: 4-1 Columbus

3rd Period
Columbus was in defensive mode this period and it worked! They just outplayed the Bruins team all game. Also in the third the Bruins matter got a little worse, they lost tough guy Doug Doull to a leg injury that will keep him out of the lineup for two to four months. Columbus was the better team tonight and got rewarded for it.

"I just wanted to win tonight. So we decided that we were going to play a physical game and try to operate on our scoring chances," said ex-Bruin Dan McGillis after a win against his old team.

Nucks Down Beantown Boys

1st Period
Boston still looks very shaky after the loss to Columbus, they just don't seem to have alot of intensity to win these hockey games. There defence and offence have been below par lately and they are looking like a disorganized bunch of apes. Vancouver scored two goals in the first period one of them coming from Daniel Sedin on a wrister and the other from Brad May on a huge rebound slap shot. Thibault got the start tonight and is desperately looking to keep his team in it but he just can't when he only has white shirts in front of his net.

Score: 2-0 Vancouver

2nd Period
Boston looked great in the second period but the just couldn't beat Dan Cloutier. He was playing a marvelous period only one goal got behind him and it was a Glen Murray slap shot from the faceoff dot to the left side. Vancouver got another goal this period aswell. Brenden Morrison came out and put a wrister top shelf on Jocelyn Thibault. I don't know what Boston can do more to try to come back they are playing awesome they just can't beat Cloutier.

Score: 3-1 Vancouver

3rd Period
Boston came out in the third just like they played in the second with intentions to tie this one up. They got a goal early from Michael Nylander but that was all they could get. Vancouver had the first period all to themselves and thats what won it for them. Boston will have to play better hockey if they want to win against these tough teams.

"Well I don't think that we played horrible, I just think that we could of played better and given Thibault some more support in the first period," said Joe Thornton after the Bruins second straight loss.

Bruins Win a Close One in Atlanta

1st Period
This period was one to remember. Both teams played magnificently on defence and on offence. The goaltenders sure put on a show for the fans in Atlanta. The refs weren't taking any chippy hits at all as Atlanta has a 5 on 3 at one point but Thibault was terrific. Kris Vernarsky got called on a retaliation hit on Majesky who hit Travis Green before. If you like intense hockey this was a game to come to. We'll see if both teams have the energy to play a good second.

Score: 0-0

2nd Period
Pasi Nurminen has been putting on a show for his hometown Atlanta fans, he has been spectacular stopping everything but one shot. The goal for the Bruins was off a faceoff win where Sean O'Donnell lightly backhanded it in but it hit Glen Murray in the back and he took it and got Pasi down and he wristed it home. Pasi's counterpart Jocelyn Thibault hasn't been to shabby either as he is looking for his third win in four games as a Bruin.

Score: 1-0 Boston

3rd Period
This period was a back and fourth momentum sort of period. At first the Thrashers had all the momentum, and then it shifted to the Bruins side. Once again this period was stolen by outstanding goaltending at both ends. It's a shame that one of them had to lose. The goal scored by Murray in the second was costly to the Thrashers as that would end up being the winning goal. With the win Boston ends there short two game loosing streak. Also Boston got there first shutout of the season with the stellar performance of Thibault.

"When Sean shot it in I felt something hit me in the back and I realized it was the puck. So I just put it on my stick and made sure that I had a decent enough shot because I knew that one goal could decide this game," said Glen Murray who scored the GWG for the Bruins.

Fans Cheer, Bruins Win

1st Period
This period was mainly controlled by the Bruins. They once again got into penalty problems and had to kill the off, they did sucessfully. Boston scored on a mistake by the veteran Sylvin Cote who misplayed the puck and Glen Murray passed it over to Mikey Knuble who went "Roof Daddy" and scored his first goal in a while. But the Caps wouldn't let up and they got a late period goal on Andrew Raycroft, it was Alexander Semin who scored on a wrister on "Razor". Boston looks to be the better team tonight but the "talentless" Caps are staying in this game tonight.

Score: 1-1

2nd Period
The intensity of this sold out Fleet Centre was unbelievable tonight. They wouldn't be quiet it was amazing. There are three goals to report about for this period. The first was almost identical to the goal in the first for the Bruins where this time Mikey Knuble setup Glen Murray for the shot home on "Godzilla", the second was Glen Murray was doing a fantastic forechecking job and Kolzig came out from his net to play the puck behind and Murray "Punk'd" it and got to the front of the net quicker than Kolzig making it 3-1 for the Lunch Pail Gang. Late in the second the Caps struck on a one-timed goal from Danius Zubrus. In the dying seconds there was a fight between Sean O'Donnell and Matt Pettinger and O'Donnell rocked him. On the faceoff after the fight Bruins defenceman Jiri Slegr broke in on a break but was stopped on a amazing save from Kolzig. Boston has alot of momentum and I think they will come away with it.

Score: 3-2 Boston

3rd Period
This period had tons of scoring chances but neither team could beat the respected goalies. Boston was the better team tonight and the 700 pound line has been outstanding. They have to keep playing like this if they want to win.

"Well I liked the way our boys played tonight and Razor played good making some key last period saves. I am holding a morning practise tommorow to work on our power play," said Coach Mike Sullivan after the Bruins win.

St. Louis Breaks Streak for Bruins

1st Period
This period wasn't as rough as I thought it would be. Boston seemed to have the more chances on "Ozzy" but he was stellar in goal tonight. You know the saying, "the goalie makes a nice save in one end, and the other team takes up the puck and scores,"? Well thats what happened here. Osgood made a beauty save and then Savage took up the puck and one-timed passed it to Scott Mellanby, right passed Jocelyn Thibault. Boston should just keep the pressure that they had on at the end of the first and they might get lucky.

Score: 1-0 St. Louis

2nd Period
Chris Osgood is playing like his old self this game fans. He is stopping everything that is coming at him. Boston just can't solve the Blues keeper, they have launched 22 shots on Ozzy and they can't get one by him. The puck was in the Blues end for most of the second period. Travis Green's days in Boston are becoming numbered, he is struggling this season with no points and is a -4, he is rumoured to be on the trading block. Back to the game, if Boston wants to win it, get those shots past the goalie! Simple as that.

Score: 1-0 St. Louis

3rd Period
St. Louis had a great defensive period blocking alot of the Bruins shots on goal, and they made good on one chance the Blues got. Pavol Demitra took the initial shot and it looked like a harmless dump in but Doug Weight tipped it home and that won the game for them. Boston tried to score but Osgood was on is game tonight. Travis Green is said to be traded away tonight.

"I just strapped on my pads knowing this was a good team and I watched some tapes from there recent winning streak and I just played," said Blues goaltender Chris Osgood after a win against the Bruins.

Bruins Win and Learn Not to Let Their Guard Down

1st Period
Holy does Jiri Hudler ever look great in a Bruins uni, Jason Williams doesn't look bad either. Boston came out flying and did not let Nashville get anything going at all. Jiri Hudler already has two points as a Bruins picking up a assist on a Kris Vernarsky goal and then letting go a slapper for a goal of his own which is his first career goal. P.J Stock the other 4th liner got a goal as well. Joe Thornton also picked up a goal on the seige that the Bruins had going. Boston's defence only let two shots on Raycroft that period. Boy do they look good going into the second!

Score: 4-0 Boston

2nd Period
Nashville looked to be the better team that period and it looked as the Bruins fell asleep on defence letting 17 shots on Raycroft this period, but he was sharp only letting one goal on those shots and it was a beauty shot from Steve Sullivan. Boston's offence wasn't asleep though, they scored three more goals this period, Jason Williams got his first goal of the season and as a Bruin on a spiffy backhander, Glen Murray continues to roll scoring a nice wrister, and Jiri Hudler gets another tally with a deflection goal. The Bruins two new recruits have not disapointed yet!

Score: 7-1 Boston

3rd Period
Boston completely laid down this period letting Nashville almost get right back in it. Nashville scored four straight goals on Boston and they had all the momentum, but Boston eventually pulled off the victory. Andrew Raycroft let in a few weak goals but thanks to the goals scored by Boston they hung on. This game finished with a score of 8-5 a total of 13 goals.

Boston Doesn't Roll Over Against The Coyotes

1st Period
A great start for the Bruins this game. The heated fourth line came through again as Hudler feathered a pass to Kris Vernarsky who scored the games opening goal. This game was the return of Sergei Gonchar and he was looking for his first goal of the season and with only 5 seconds left he blasted one on goal and it went right by Brent Johnson. Jocelyn Thibault looked good on the shots he faced that period.

Score: 2-0 Boston

2nd Period
This period was solidly played defensivly by both squads. There was many pokechecks and lots of hits. The play was mainly in the Coyotes end because Boston was playing hard remembering what happened last game. There is one goal to tell you about and that was a goal by Mike Johnson who broke away on a bad Bruins change and made them pay. Boston will just continue there good play if they want to win this one.

Score: 2-1 Boston

3rd Period
Boston was the comander of the period and they got rewarded for it as well. Jiri Hudler who has fit in amazingly got another two points this period with a goal and a assist. Boston took advatage of there scoring chances this game and they won it with all skill.

"I love the way we are playing right now, and the trade made us 100% better!," spoke coach Mike Sullivan after Bostons win against the Coyotes.

Final Score: Boston 5 Phoenix 2
