He won't because he doesn't deserve to. He doesn't deserve to break Ruth's mark, not to mention the record. I look forward to him never getting another pitch to hit at the 713 mark. Steroid monsters don't belong in the record books.

Man, if I was a pitcher in the NL, I would love to get to pitch to Bonds if he does come close to Ruth's mark, I would hit him and try and end his career. He is a dirty steroid user that does not deserve to be in the books at all.

i don't see him stop hitting homers. so he will break the record
lllll33lllll

Barry Bonds will not break the homerun title, cuz pitchers will stop pitching to him completely. they will just go around him. i dont think that is fair but thats the way it goes. he will just keep on getting walked.

He won't because he doesn't deserve to.
lol if he keeps hitting homeruns in theory you have deserved it...
Steroid monsters don't belong in the record books.
Steroids don't hit the ball, steroids don't give you outstanding bat speed, steroids don't allow you to see the ball better then anyone ever, steroids don't give you better hand eye cordination, steroids don't give you an outstanding compact power swing. last time i checked steroids have nothing to do with the formula to hit lots of HR's. Pure strength isn't everything when hitting HR's.
Steroids may keep you in the game an extra year or two, but put yourself in his position.... A great baseball player, enjoying playing the game more then almost anything els, and on the pace to possibley break the HR records. Now if steroids were to keep you in the game for a few extra years, you would be lying to yourself if you said that you wouldn't take steroids if you were in barry's position.
IMO steroids aren't going to make you a better HR hitter because it really doesn't add to what get's you HR's...

Pitchers will stop pitching to him
but he will still break the record next year
he only get 1 or 2 hits a game and still hes
always leading in homeruns look at Adam Dunn
he is leading in home runs and he doesnt take steroids
and he is leading 2nd in walks just like barry bonds

steroids don't give you an outstanding compact power swing.
Wrong, Steroids give you a Power Swing...Did you see Bonds before the 2001 season? He was a normal 30-40 HR guy, then he hit 73 all of a sudden, he doubled his average? Hmmm...
Now if steroids were to keep you in the game for a few extra years, you would be lying to yourself if you said that you wouldn't take steroids if you were in barry's position.
Why does he need steroids? He doesnt want to break the HR record! He wants to win a ring...Watch his interviews once in awhile...
And you dont need steroids to be successful...Ruth, Mays and Aaron all were successful, Hmmm...
IMO steroids aren't going to make you a better HR hitter because it really doesn't add to what get's you HR's...
That made no sense...
Let me guess, you live in California and you are Barry's biggest fan since you have supported the team since 2001 when Bonds hit 73?

The only type of people I could see doubling there HR total is coming off your rookie career. You dont see people constantly hitting 10 hrs then hitting 20 or 30. Steroids, Barry must love'em

i agree with everything you said Mariners...
i'm in california, and i hate barry bonds...i may be bias because i'm in LA, but i can't stand cocky players who think that they are the greatest thing to ever happen to the game.
it's a shame that he broke Willie Mays' record...he's my favorite player of all time, and it saddened me to know that he broke it.
steroids do make you stronger right? i mean what's the point of taking them if they don't make you physically stronger? bonds is a *****..plain and simple.
although i don't know for sure if he'll break the record (i pray to god he doesn't), one thing i know for sure is that he in no way deserves to have his name mentioned among baseball's greatest.

Steroids do help you hit home runs. Not only do you hit the ball farther, your bat speed is increased, reaction times are decreased. I would never take steroids even if I was Barry. My health and dignity are more important to me than even several million dollars.

let me in on this man, ya'll are just a bunch of sorry goofs, heck i use to hate barry bonds myself and guess what i'm black, but you know what you people are so unreal it's no even funny, i always thought we were moving well beyond the rosa park, martin luther king days but you know what, in the suburban parts of america, things are still the way they were 40 years ago, nothings chaged, all bigots and racist are still out there, hell a white friend of mine told me when we were just 12 years old back in 1989 that his parents didn't like black folks, and his father got upset that he invited me over for dinner one day. His father past away last year cause he had cancer, hey it's not my fault he couldn't control his drug and alcohol habbits. Back on Bonds, you people keep saying that steriods make you stronger, and all that other stuff, then why is everyone who's on steriods not doing what bonds is doing, putting up the kind of numbers he's putting up. Why don't you goof troopers figure out that formula for me, after all ya'll are just a bucnh of young geeks in high school. Hell if you reply to this post and think that i'm a racist done even dare try, my father got married to a white woman and i have a white step sister that i like better than my own blood sister.

Thank you GoYanks and Makshim...And Bonds has one of the fastest reaction times of any player, I wonder why? And when I said AVERAGE I meant AVERAGE based on his seasons BEFORE the 2001 season...He only AVERAGED 30-40 homers and then he hits 73? 73 divided by 2 is 36.5 which is in the middle of 30-40, which was Bonds AVERAGE before 2001...Do the math you ****ing Idiot...

Let me wrap this all up.
cwebb said the key to hitting is bat speed and eye, he is mostly correct
But we aren't talking about hitting, we are talking about power hitting. hey, notice how i added power to hitting and it made "power hitting" Let me put this in an equasion...
Eye+Batspeed=Hitting
Steroids+needle=Power
Power+Hitting=Powerhitting/homeruns
Whoever said steroids don't help you hit, you are right. Whoever said steroids don't help your bat speed or power, you are wrong

cwebb, that was that year. On average he hit high 30/low 40 before the 1 season he hit 73. He has only had 2 seasons of over 48. Which were the years eith 49 and 73

i know, but the year before he hit 73 he did hit 49 so you guys think that steroids are the only reason he got that amount let's look at some other players stats....
Sammy Sosa went from 33 HR's in 1997 and then hit 66 the very next year...
Ken Griffy Jr. went from 27 when he was young in 1993 to hit 45 in 94
Garry Sheffield went from 16 in 1994 to 42 in 1995
Even Babe Ruth who everyone thinks is the best player ever went from 11 in 1918 to 29 in 1919 to 54 in 1920
The whole point, Sosa being the best example, A lot of players have gotten better at hitting HR's over the year's why not blame them for being steroid abusers! You can't say the only reason Bonds got 73 is because of roids that's rediculas....

We never said we dont think that others dont, just that Barry definately does. For all we know Sosa could've been using corked bats for his whole life and was happened to get caught once

That could not have been said better. Steroid users, they don't even have to be monsters -- heck, throw in anyone that uses ANY kind of performance enhancer -- don't even deserve to play the game of baseball.

Your argument is also very weak. Here is why. You basically tried to present your opinion as a fact. Can you PROVE that steroids only allow a player to last another year or two? I didn't think so. Now, you're sounding very silly when you try to say that steroids don't give him a compact power swing. When was the last time a steroid had a label on it that said "will give you a compact power swing" ? What it does is give him the strength and speed, to the point that the bat feels like a wiffle ball bat, thus allowing him to swing with a compact swing very easily. And, that means a better jump on the ball and that the ball with jump with far more ease off the bat. Stop trying to present your distorted view of baseball to fit your agenda.

this guy earlier made a post saying that every one is hitting more homeruns such as sammy.if you ask me sammy is alot younger than barry.also id say sammy is in his prime.barry was like 38 or 37 when he hit 73 hr's.thats 24 hr's more than his previous season.this is really upsetting because his personal trainer gets busted for distributing roids after he broke mcgwires record.if it is proven that he took steroids.i hope that there will be a much more strict drug policy.no random testing but mandatory.all players every month.
