Well, I'm planning on buying this on PS3, but since it's not on the PS3 Marketplace, I downloaded it on the Xbox360. Wow. This game was off-the-charts. I was one of the people who loved MLB 2K6 other than the lackluster graphics and a few roster problems, so I was hyped beyond belief to play MLB 2K7's demo. From what I heard, it had amazing graphics, gameplay felt like MVP's, great camera angles, etc. Well, I downloaded it at 3:00, and much to my surprise, I had no issues downloading it. Here's my review of MLB 2K7's demo.
Graphics: 9.0
The player faces, models, animations, stadiums, exterior stadium shells, interior hallways are magnificent, only outdone by Gears of War. There are a few bugs I noticed, loading screens in between plays, and dull textures at the top of Shea's overhang. The fans look immaculate as well. These graphics are only outdone by Gears of War.
Gameplay: 9.5
MLB 2K7 feels like a next-gen MVP Baseball. The throwing, the catching, everything feels like the old MVP baseball. The swing stick is awesome as normal and the pitching is amazing this year with a more dynamic breaking point for pitches. But doesn't 2K Sports get the fact that we hate having to tap A to run?
Presentation: 8.0
From what I saw, they kept those ugly, hidious menus from 2K6 as well as the Game Setup screen which is dull and boring. The dynamic camera angles are off-the-charts though.
Sound: 10
The soundtrack is the best I've heard on a video game. 311, Nirvana, STP, etc. is an awesome line-up to have on a baseball game, especially considering last years was subpar beyond belief. The pre-game analysis is great and more dynamic and adapts to the game better. As usual, Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are great announcers, I just hope the stat problem from the Franchise mode is gone.
Overall: 9.0
If they wanted to shake up MLB 2K7 and put a good game on the market and bring the doubters on board, they did it with this demo.

Yeah, I'd give this game about a 9.1, 9.2

I haven't played it yet, but I think that I would hold back on a 9 score or higher. The reason being is because honestly, the Xbox 360 version last year should have been rated a 5 something, or a 4 something. I loved the Xbox version... couldn't play the 360 version to save my life.
Anyway, you should also recognize that this game still has so much more potential, that 2K9 will even blow this game's socks off. Maybe not visually (unless they get the AA and 60 FPS in), but there should be a truck-load of new animations, mechanics, franchsie upgrades... you know, everything that they have planned for the next two years will make them seem much better than 2K7, as great as it is.

Id put the sound at 8.5 for the most important audio related thing the crowd. its improved but STILL not loud enough. the best crowd noise was in MVP 2004 not 2005 but 2004 it was amazing.

Maybe an 8.9 if I was being a grinch, but in the context of me giving College Hoops an 8.6 or 8.7, NBA2k7 and 8.5, I'd really have to give this game a solid 9 score.
I am also even more excited about All-Pro Football after playing this.
The only thing I don't like about this game is no button mashing baserunning, and I am not really crazy about the faded out baserunner overlay, as it sometimes looks like their is a 'mini-me' outfielder out there with the rightfielder.

I didn't give the game a 9.0. Gave the demo a 9.0.
There is button-mashing baserunning.
Also, I forgot to mention when you're hitting, the pitcher is waaaaaaaaay too close to the hitter.

Wait, you think that he shouldn't give the demo a 9? Because of last year's game? And you haven't even played it? That seems like a conscious attempt to avoid objectivity.

Wait, you think that he shouldn't give the demo a 9? Because of last year's game? And you haven't even played it? That seems like a conscious attempt to avoid objectivity.I think it's more of like I wouldn't give it anywhere near perfection because it has not yet reached perfection. This game is in a "three-year plan," and this is only year one. I consider this to be like three installments to one game, where 2K9 is the resulting finished product of the game that is actually following up 2K6.
Let me put it this way: If revenue didn't matter, their "three-year plan" would be a three-year development cycle, and they wouldn't ever release a 2K7 or a 2K8, and 2K9 would be their next installment.
So, what I'm saying is just that I'm looking into the future much more than the past. 2K7 is probably a terrific game, but it's just the basis of what's going to be built upon, and if they had more time, they would have already build upon it. I wouldn't give 2K7 a 9, 2K8 a 9.4, and then 2K9 a 9.7 or anything. I bet that 2K8 will blow 2K7's socks off... of course, people won't see it as much, because it's more of improvement over change. But it will be much greater than just 0.4 points greater, and I think that we need more room because even 2K9 won't be a perfect game to give a 9.7 (at least I don't think so).
I may not have played the game, but we all know that this is still a minimal product when it comes to what we'll see in 2K8 and 2K9. Considering they're rebuilding, they made a very strong effort in their development cycle, and I congratulate them.
Either way, I hate numerical ratings. I just like to say what's good, what's bad, and what kind of playing time I give it.

Fair enough.
In my opinion, though, if I choose to spend 60 bucks on a baseball game (and I do :)) I'll judge it in and of itself. I haven't played it yet, but whether it's good or bad my rating won't reflect what I thought of last year's or two years from now's version. Playin' in the moment, I guess. :)
