I need some tips on how to hit the long ball. I've been using the normal swing because it's easier to make contact and I can hit the ball out like that sometimes. I went to homerun derby to try and see if I could practice the power swing, and it's like im hitting normally. I wanna be able to hit the bomb more often then like 1/30 tries. Any tips would be great, such as when to pull back and when to push forward and so on would be great.
thanks

I do the exact opposite of u i always do power haha. But Try to just pull back and if the pitch is on the outside for a righty push up to the right kinda circle it around to the right from the bottom

That's the thing. If you only pull back and then let go to swing, then all you are doing is the contact swing. To do a power swing, you pull back and then push all the way up when you want to swing, and push up in the directions DOm gave.

I'm having issues timing my swing. When 2K6 arrived last year with the dumb swing stick, I stuck to classic mode. But then little by little I got to using the swing stick like a pro. But now on 2K7, I'm using the same timing for the swing stick from 2K6 and for some reason I'm striking out a lot. I can't seem to make contact or hit the ball at all!!
Can anyone help me out!?

I was doing the same thing - it seems in 2k7 you dont need to time your step like you did in 2k6

so I don't have to worry about the step, just push up when I wanna swing. I have been going down then pressing up for power, but it still seems to not give me a bomb shot. Like I was saying, when I do the power swing, if I was to do the normal swing i'd get the same results.

That has nothing to do with it, even the reviews state they sped up the speed of the pitches, so you have to be faster this year. It is harder but more realistic.

a lot of times if you just press down on the swingstick you could still hit a homerun i guess it depends on who is hitting yesterday i used storiano on the cubs pushed down and he hit a homerun

The hitting is hard in this game. I noticed I was swinging very late on every pitch. Now I pretty much find myself swinging as soon as the pitcher releases the ball. I have hit numerous HR's but am a sure strike if thrown a changeup. It's tough to judge where a pitch location is going to be because by the time you realize it's a curve, fastball, slider, etc., it's already by you. I guess it will just take time and practice to get the hitting down pat. I suggest to start with the 'classic' style first until you get timing down then work your way up to 'hit stick' & eventually get brave enough to try the 'sixaxis' mode!!

Nah I used the swing stick last year, I just can't get the power swing down, before I went into franchise I just did another home run derby, I chose Pujols. Down, Up no bomb, or fouls it off or lil liners ****ed me off, then I watch Dye come up and BOOM Sky highs the first pitch, went foul but damn I wanna do that. I guess for some reason I can't get under it like the computer can.

I'm the exact opposite, I went into homerun derby and can blast 19 Homers in a round but get me in franchise mode and through 8 games I have 3 HR's.

HEY SFOyA028 I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM JUST TRYING TO HIT AS SOON AS IT LEAVES THE HAND SEEMS PRETTY UNREALISTIC TO ME BUT I TURNED DOWN THE SPEED OF THE PITCH IN THE SLIDER ADJUSMENT AND U HAVE TIME TO SEE THE BALL COMING AND U HAVE LITTLE REACTION TIME TO SWING OR NOT EVEN IN THE PROS THEY HAVE TIME TO REACT

I've been using Cooperstown 1 against a 4th or 5th pitcher just to try and learn to hit. I've hit about 20 HR's in my last 4 games including an online game as the Cubs where I hit several dingers.
Play like that for a few games and hit you about 6 or 7 a game then you'll start to get 'in the swing' of things.

This is my 3rd year of playing MLB 2k? So far I've only used the classic swing. But now I want to figure out how "Swing Stick" mode works.
The books says that there are 2 basic modes of hitting, "contact" and "power". Contact hitting works by just pulling back the "RIGHT" STICK and releasing it to make a level swing. Power hitting works by pulling back the "RIGHT STICK" and then push "UP" to hit a fly ball.
To make a "POWER SWING" to the left or right, pull back on the RIGHT STICK, then push up and to the left/right at the same time. To make a level "CONTACT SWING" to the left or right, pull back on the RIGHT STICK and then use a circular motion to move the RIGHT STICK towards the right or left.
Okay, so I understand "level CONTACT SWING" and "POWER SWING" aimed to the left and to the right. (Eg. from right-handed batter P.O.V.) Using the Swing Stick, how would you hit a pitch that is :
1)Low and to the inside
2)Low and down the middle
3)Low and to the outside
????
On "CLASSIC SWING" mode, I know I can use the "LEFT STICK" to aim my bat in whatever direction the ball is pitched. How can I direct my bat using the "SWING STICK" to swing low in the 3 examples I gave. I really want to fully understand how "SWING STICK" works.
Also, is there a tutorial on Swing Stick besides the short help hints on the game?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
zigzagmaru

i just cannot get the timing down on online play. Its like when i swing there is a little delayed reaction with the controller to the game. I just cannot freaking hit the damn ball. ITs starting to **** me off. I was never this bad in sports game.
