View Full Version : Xbox - This game is the exact as last year, maybe worse.

All the menus are exactly the same, the franchise mode seems exactly the same, and I haven't fooled with GM yet. The audio commentary sounds like it could be the same audio they used last year, the graphics look the exact same.
The fielders still often throw off their wrong foot. I believe the hitting is worse this year, it seems like it's only timing now and you don't even have to try and aim where u hit it.
The game pause menu is the exact same, as is the same annoying music from last year. I like being the Yankees and every Yankee in the starting lineup is rated 100 except for Posada (94) and Cano (99). and whoever said Cliff Floyd was rated 100 wasn't lying. The menu's and everything are the exact same thing everywhere I look whether during the pause menu, right when u start the game, EVERYWHERE.
The pitching is the same thing as last year which I don't mind because I liked the pitching but I definetly think the hitting was downgraded.
I understand most of the effort was put into the newer consoles, but why even release this game if it's just basically a roster update, and then I guess St.Louis new stadium will hopefully be in this game. It's a real injustice to the fans of 2K games in general to rip them off like this. I feel shafted out of my $30.
I would imagine the 360 version is way ahead of this game on the xbox and ps2 but if your planning on buying this just save your money and play last years because its the same thing.
The only upgrade is the rosters, and even those aren't that close to being up to date. Just skimming through the game Doug Menkevitch isn't on the yankees. Many guys who have been signed for months are still in free agency. The farm system is still non existant.
As far as Xbox goes, MVP 2005 will still be the best ever on that console. Like I said maybe the newer gen games are miles ahead but the xbox game I would definetly NOT recommend.
But I still love your NBA games 2k :)

you know what really plsses me off, is the back of the box says "its a whole new ballgame". and before its release, when showing screen shots or vids of the ps2 , it was actually of the next gen consoles! so they knew what they were doing, making us think they put together a new improved baseball game for 07 so the old consoles sale will still boost while doing absolutely nothing but updating rosters, and adding catcher call the game . arrrrgh
i understand they dont want to put time and effort into the old consoles , thats fine, but dont lie to us and trick us into buying your game! if i knew it was 2k6 with new rosters theres no way in hell i wouldve bought it, 2k6 sucked.

i have xbox and ps2, is it not on ps2 neither? Anyway, I didn't like the screenshots i saw of the show. I'm just gonna go back to MVP and season 6 of my athletics dynasty. Hopefully MLB will revoke 2k's exclusive license so competition can force both 2k and ea to improve themselves.
Also a note, I just started playing another Franchise game. I figured I spent $30 i might as well try to get a little bit of my moneys worth.
Carl Crawford hit a line drive to RF and I threw him out at 1st
and all my 4 hits up until the 5th inning have been HR's.

i wonder if enough people complain they will give us some type of reimbursement or 2k credit. I'm never buying another 2k baseball game after this though. I still enjoy the NBA games but baseball is not their thing

I didn't like the screen shots either, but once you get into the game you forget about all those and enjoy the sweet gameplay. It's a great game... rent it i you want, but you should play it.

would be nice, but theres no way they would do that. i figure with 2k and madden trade in i can get the show for about 5-10 bucks, no biggie. ill just stay away from 2k from here on out.

Well, after a semi-positive post yesterday, I am back to disappointment. My bottom line opinion is they just should not have made it for Xbox. I guess I really should have known better, so shame on me. I need to regroup and decide what to do next. Go the 360 route? Get a Wii and wait for 2K8 and try to pass time with the "Bigs" this summer, or an old Game Cube version of MVP 2004. In the meantime (and this is my opinion so don't feel the need to comment, cuz there's already another thread for this) I'll stick it out with MVP 2005 and even the damn college MVP for Xbox (which in pure gameplay, I like better than 2K6 or 2K7).
Oh well, there are far more important things in this world.

imo i think that this game is a bit not a-lot better that mlb 2k6 oh and u can aim where to hit that ball, if u read the manual it says u pull the right thumb stick back and then use a circular motion to left or right to hit it that way and for power swings u pull the stick back and push up to the left/right for a hit in that direction.

I think the gameplay maybe a little better but I am definitely disappointed with the details of the game. Wrigley field looks the same as it did in 2k5, none of the updates that the have been made. In GM mode they have a generic version of Lou Pinella, they didn't even change his number from Dusty's. And only Rothschild is correct for there coaches.

I was going to wait to buy the game until after I rented it but I got excited because of all the ads and screen shots, now I have the game that I probably won't ever play.
