How do you steal bases???

I feel stupid!!! I've read the manual and haven't changed the settings (as far as I know), but I cannot steal. I hold the left stick in the direction of the intended base and press X and nothing happens. Do I need to go into "BaseBurner" mode?

Make sure you do it (move left analog stick towards base and press X) before the pitcher winds up. Otherwise, I don't know why it wouldn't be working.

left analog up (towards the base) and square. i recommend increasing your lead first.

Baseburnermode is so much easier. However it won't work if you play someone on the same console.
