View Full Version : Points of Clarification

There seems to be some confusion with the tournament structure. This thread is meant to clarify some issues and give you a place to post your concerns.

Foremost, the point of the tournament is to accumulate as many points as possible to win a trip to the Final Four and the chance to compete for a new Pontiac car. Please refer to the official rules: "At the conclusion of the Tournament one Xbox player and three Xbox 360 players will be selected to compete in the Final Competition based on the following criteria. (1) highest score in regional brackets (highest possible score: 4); (2) total games won during the Tournament (highest possible score: 16). Under this formula ties are likely. Accordingly, in the event of ties, the player with the highest seed from Qualifying Rounds will advance to the Final Competition."

However, even if you lose in three of your regions, you still have the chance to win a free 2k Sports game of choice. The winner of each individual bracket will receive this prize.

The autodraft will happen after every round. If you were Florida in the first round, you will not necessarily be Florida in round 2 (even if you win your game) unless you get them during the next autodraft. Players will have the opportunity to rank new teams after the completion of every round.

In round 1, the #1 seed will play the #16 seed in all four regions. Therefore, the #16 seed automatically is assigned the opponent of the team the #1 seed drafted in the first round. However, the #16 seed also gets to draft a team later and then the #1 team will be assigned the opponent. Generally, this system ensures that team selection is fair and not one person has stacked teams.

So what happens in round 2? In round 1, you have four teams, one team in each region of the actual NCAA bracket. However, if you win three games and lose one, you will not be assigned a team in the next round in the region you lost your game in.

Also, please note that the winner of the #1 vs. #16 matchup will play the winner of the #8 vs. #9 matchup. In round 2, you may have two games against the #8 seed and two games against the #9 seed.

Good luck in your first round games!

32 people will win their brackets. After that, is there a tournament for those 32 people or does it go straight to the points (games won) and qualifying rank? I'm pretty sure I figured out that it goes straight to games won and qualifying rank. I think you guys should consider making it a 32-person single elimination tournament. Whoever gets to the championship and the person that wins the consolation game should go to Atlanta. You could use the real tournament's bracket from the real round of 32 and on. You could assign teams based on qualifying rank. Just a suggestion for this year or next year.

I agree man would it suck to win all those games and tie only to be eliminated because you couldn't play 12 thousand games a day during qualifying.

So people who get no-show wins receive the same amount of points as the people who play every game? There have been alot of no-show wins. Such as the players who have all eight wins from no-shows. It makes it awfully hard to get enough points to be even in the running to make it too Atlanta when your playing every game compare to those who aren't. Is it possible some players will only have a game or two to make it to the championship in there bracket? A few more ways to earn points in games or something might make it alittle more even. Just thought I would point that out.

Guys, look at a calendar. Round 4, the Elite 8, ends on a Sunday evening. 4 winners need to be at the Final 4 that Thursday. In the intervening 3 days we have to:

1. Verify the results of the tournament.
2. Find 4 winners, verify ages, verify they can actually get time off from work to be at the Final 4, etc.
3. Book plane travel for winners and guests. (Last minute travel to the Final 4 city--not exactly easy!)

You get the idea. While your idea is certainly a good one--and mind you one that was indeed considered when modeling this thing--there is no way for it to be logistically possible. Just want you all to understand this, and understand that we are not ignoring you, it's just that you may not be considering all of the variables when coming up with this stuff.

All I know is hopefully I get enough points to be high on the points list, because I'm sure there are people that aren't gonna be able to get off of work to leave for a week and probably are a few under the age of 18. I for one can leave for Atlanta anytime and am actually the age it says in my profile (19). How do you guys notify the winner by the way?

Man that sucks that there isnt gonna be a 32 man tourny (would only make sense) but oh well. I would of had a decent shot at goin but my opponent paused the whole game I sent a no-show complaint to the admins and they did nothing. Was completely happy with the admins and this whole tourny until they pretty much just blew me off.

Sorry to come off as an ***** admin but just still upset that my opponent paused the whole game well the last 4 minutes of the first half to the end of the second. GT Im A Republican but you already sent me a email sayin you could do nothing.

Im A Republican,

I have sent a reply to every message you have sent to me. I did not simply "blow you off."

As I mentioned in my response, it is very difficult to disqualify your opponent based on one complaint. We checked the logs and did not find anything about your game that appeared odd. It would be completely unfair if I disqualified people based simply on their opponents lone complaint.

Please refer to the official rules:

"All complaints will be filed and saved. If a player receives too many complaints about breaking these rules or constantly abusing other exploitations, he will be disqualified."
