on the 360 you hold right trigger
holding down the right triger while running bases will make the guy go back to the base, he wont keep running to 2nd or 3rd

hold down the right trigger like said before but only works while in filed runners don't think can go faster

For the XBOX, the right trigger is to sprint with the fielder. As for baserunning, I think you tap the button for the runner that it shows in the small boxes for them.

I believed they have removed the old tapping for speed boost when running the bases (for the 360, the only version i have). Although its odd that there is no mention of it anywhere in the manual or otherwise. I have tried tapping and not tapping and haven't noticed a difference. If your like me you still do it out of instinct as well as trying to error on the safe side. I am glad they did, if in fact they did, remove it. I remember trying to advance runners while tapping and it was extremely akward.

There is no "turbo" for baserunning.

just let the comp do it...

press left trigger... to have them lead step a little.

The trick is if you keep leading to much.... and they know your a WILLIE TAVERAS or any baserunner...

you'll spend the whole entire game. watching the PITCHER CHECK EM....

WHAT I DO IS.... while he's about to pitch .. lead the base runner one step... THEN FAKE the BUNT with Y and the PITCHER actually concentrate on YOU the batter instead of the RUNNER..

then do it all over again.. LEAD ONE STEP AGAIN.. then FAKE BUNT ... THEN he'll pitch AT YOU>>

AND press hold LT STICK UP... then X.. BOOM U STOLED A BASE!

While running the bases.. All players speeds are determined by thier player speed attribute.

Plus there is also this slider you can customizez:
Runner Baserunning Speed:

I still tap the button to..LOL bELIEVE IT OR not I do think it makes a difference on the average speed runners...Try an experiment with it and see. Sometimes it seems like it makes a deifference and sometimes it doesn;t Could just be my imagination and wishful thinking...Why didn't they make an in game manual..Curious?

Just your imagination...sorry. They did away with speed burst because it got a lot of negative feedback. They mention that specifically in either the gamespot or IGN review or preview of the game (I can't remember which). So to also respond to the general point of the thread, the reason "not one person can tell you how to run fast," is that you can't. Your run speed is determined soley by the speed rating of the player...and supposedly by fatigue level is franchise/GM Career mode.

correct, the turbo for baserunning is gone. it is a lot more realistic

For fielding the R2 button seems to make them sprint faster. Usually I use this to set up my OF under the flight of a fly ball, that is it. I don't think the baserunner speed can be increased. I still am trying to figure out how to slide.

Yeah they took it out of the game, but i still tap the A button like a fool !

If they are going solely on the baserunner's speed, then there is a problem with the speed in the game.. I hit the ball to the wall in right-center or left-center and certain guys (i.e. carlos delgado) cant leg out a double out of that.. it just goes for a loooooong single.. I dont think thats very realistic.. but correct me if I'm wrong

If you are on PS2 tapping the button works.

In 2K6 you could tap down A to run faster on the bases, but on 2K7 there is no turbo while baserunning. But in the field i think you hold down right trigger.

(for the 360)When fielding the right trigger will give more speed. while running the bases the runner has a button assigned to him A for 1st B for 2nd so on and so on. or you could read the manual:D

Cant speed up the baserunners by tapping a button in MLB 2k7, which is a good thing. You can RAISE Baserunner speed and LOWER Fielder Running Speed and Arm Strength to make the overall gameplay much more realistic. This solves alot of the gameplay issues.
