This is my first college hoops game, and I wam trying to start a career legacy... the problem is, when I simulate the games - my team always goes around 9-17, 6-20, etc - then I can only get 1* or 2* players. the next year I do worse because my top guys graduate with horrible recruits coming in, and there ya go. I'm fired and no one offers me a new job.
How do you succeed at this if your team has a horrid record?

Try going to Schedule->Coach's Meeting and turn the Scouting Bar all the way up. Also go to the Coaches Profile and turning everything except for subs down to 0. This will insure that you play very consistent basketball. You will not score a lot of points but you will win a good amount of games in conference. You will not beat the really good teams, if you want that then turn all of those to 100. This will not insure you winning those games but you will put up a fight, and sometimes come out with the win.

The best thing to do is play your conference tournament game and try to win them to get into the NCAA tournament. That would be big for your coach and recruiting. I just got my copy of the game but it worked in 2k5 and 2k6.

You need to get a 3* recruit from the world. And once you do that grab 2 stars and you will be golden. I would say play atleast half your confrence games. Or atleast play them get up by enuff then simulate the rest of the game.

What is "The World"??? I usually recruit from the main list of prospects, then the State I am in, and the surrounding states.
Also, guys - I am trying to do a pure sim legacy. I am not going to play any of the games. That is the point :). Obv I could do good if I played the games but that isn't what I really like about franchise modes.

I'm doing a legacy where I play all the games, isn't that the point or am I missing something?

Some people choose to simulate most, some choose to coach, and others play. I personally would take the play & coaching but some people like to sim, which is ok.

I play and sim... But when i say the world.... When you go to your map for recruiting if you move all the way to the right ytou should have a globe and select it and this should bring up the world recruits. And this i what i did. My team succeded almost instantly when i drafted my 3* world recruit. Made the NCAA tourny in my 3rd and 4th year. ANd now in my 16th year i believe i have won it all 3 of the last 4 tries. Texas State is a great team to pick. Due to the fact has some of the most recruits in the country. I only recruit in state now and it has worked out great.

Simulating is boring. Whats the point? Coaching doesn't seem that bad. I think in order to enjoy the full experience, you need to play the games yourself.

Some people just like the association aspect of the game like myself. I rather jus recruit and play some games occasionally. But i really enjoy being in the office, not literally, but in the game like when i play nba 2k7 i like the whole owner aspect of the game.
