Well if you reset the rosters then it gives you the option to use the numbers or generate random names. But if you have already started the legacy then, unless you start a new one, you are out of luck.

Colgate gives a twenty-eight point loss to Army

In just about a killing Colgate shows why they are the number one seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The Knights were down the second they took the court; a 19-0 run to start the game. SG #34 brought his game and scored 19. “Our best part of our game tonight was the steals. I hope we can issue the same statement to our next opponent.” The press defense for the Red Raiders helped cause twenty-eight steals. This compelling 57-29 win over Army will sure help - momentum wise - in next Friday’s match-up against American Eagles.

Stats

Colgate Red Raiders

SG #34 19 points, 3 steals
SG#14 8 points, 3 steals
PG#5 8 points, 3 steals

Army Black Knights

No challenge for the Raiders, yet

The Raiders of Colgate have extended their winning streak to nine, defeating the American Eagles in the Semifinal of the Patriot League Tournament by 30 points. Again their full court press got them too many steals to count (15 by the half). Star player SG#34 has been injured for two weeks but is still playable. The next opponent for the Raiders will be the Bucknell Bison in a battle that will determine who will get the Automatic Bid in the NCAA Tournament. Colgate has won by twenty five points or more in there first two games, but can they keep the streak going? “Yes we can, but Bucknell is a tough team,” comments Coach K.

The stats for this game are unavailable.

Colgate wins NCAA Bid; with less than average performance by SG#34

When the clock counted down to zero in the 49-36 game, it hit Coach K. He was going to the NCAA Tournament. In his first ever season in college basketball the coach waited all his life for this moment. While his brother did it first, Mike Krzyzewski, the other coach K has always dreamed after the National Championship of ’90. This game was filled with all around great play, except for SG#34 because of his injury. Other teammates such as SG#14 stepped up and scored in double digits. A dream come true for everyone on Colgate.

Stats

Colgate Raiders

SG #14 14 points, 3 steals
PG #10 8 points
SG #13 7 points, 2 steals

Colgate gets a fourteen seed

Coach K said it perfectly, “We played great basketball all year long. I am very proud that we pulled a fourteen seed out of the hat. The only bad part is we have to play Georgia Tech in the first round.” Colgate is looking to make a statement against an up-and-coming Georgia Tech team. Every player is outmatched at there position, they are definitely not the favorite in this one. GT coach said earlier that, “Colgate is a good team, they can drive, hit the three, and force turnovers, but I have faith in our team.”

Colgate ends season with a stinging pane

When Georgia Tech dominated Colgate, it was over. The amazing season that lead to the victory in the Patriot League Championship, was over. But hope has not to be forgotten, Coach K has decided to come back to Colgate and coach at least one more year, and he is not the only one; Willie Morse (star guard #34) has decided to come back also. The schedule will be announced shortly, as well as the roster (players' real names).

Athletic Director happy with results of '06-'07

"Coach K is the next Coach K," David Roach said after signing the up-and-coming prospect. And he still believes it. Roach commended Krzyzewski on his outstanding effort in the latest season in an email yesterday. K was excited to recieve such receniton from such a high man in Colgate basketball. When asked about goals Coach K said one thing, "Win an NCAA Tournament game. I believe that is possible because of outrageous amount of athletic ability."

#1 SF...K. Chones (twins) OVR 62
#4 PF...K. Chones (twins) OVR 62
#2 C ...A. Woodhouse OVR 65

Coach's Thoughts - We will have a tough game against Albany. The Great Danes are killers at their home court. I think this team has more chrisma than last year's team. Our bench is not deep at all; the highest rating of any bench player is 56 and that scares me.

Morse and Roemer are a deadly team, could both easily average 15 points if they set that goal for themselves. Chones, Chones and Woodhouse are an awesome combination at it is a pleasure to coach each and every one of them. Like I said before, our starters must come up big because of the low bench quality.

I'm very excited to play Albany because it could be a momentum boost for the season.

Coach’s Thoughts – That was a really amazing win. I think we just did everything right. Our stars were stars; all our starters played productively and did something good to help our ball club. We stood strong and we never let them come into our lead. Even when Morse and Roemer were out, we played like champs.

Albany did a good job driving but we stopped them with well contested shots. Every time they shot the ball, they had a hand in there face. Morse was just about every where with seven steals and twenty-four points, as was Roemer who scored sixteen and stole eight.

If everyone comes to play we will win. If not, we will lose. If we play like we did today, we are sure contenders for the Patriot League Championship.

Next up is

Miami
George Washington

Two very good teams, unfortunatly.

Coach’s Thought’s – I think we had a great amount of luck in this game. The Hurricanes missed almost all of there shots in the last five minutes. But I do credit our heart. We never got down even though we were down, by 12. Our back-ups, who I discredited before, put together a 17-4 run to win the game.

Everyone was feeling the pressure so I don’t blame Roemer for going 4-15 from the field. But again Morse drains more than 15 points, with a 37% field goal percentage.

We saw how a few points turn into many points. When Morse hit two free throws, he then stole the ball and got fouled. He then hit that free throw and Chones stole it to gain two more points. That was defiantly what gave the momentum and the win to us.

Stats

Colgate

Morse -17 points, 3 steals, 7-19 FG
Roemer - 9 points, 3 steals, 4-15 FG

http://images.sportsline.com/images/collegebasketball/logos/COLG.gif Colgate Raiders (2-1, 0-0) 81

Coach’s Thought’s – We took our first plummet today. We were leading with about six minutes, but we couldn’t hold on. Also, we played with fifteen minutes halves instead of our usual ten. It was a higher intensity than the other two games. George Washington was the best opponent on our schedule, so a loss to them isn’t dreadfully bad.

Our press defense helped (once, again) to get us back in the game. When we were down by 16, we came back on a 21-4 run to put us in the lead. The press was the key.

What lost us the game was the explosive offense of George Washington. They ended up with six players in double figures. If you get six players in double figures, your almost a lock to win. We got three in double digits; Morse, Jonson, and Roemer. Morce had our first double-double with ten steals and twenty points.

I think we put up a good effort, just not good enough.

Stats

Colgate

Morse – 20 points, 10 steals, 9-33 FG
Roemer – 19 points, 8-20 FG, 3-11 3PT
Jonson – 12 points, 4 steals, 6-9 FG

George Washington

http://images.sportsline.com/images/collegebasketball/logos/COLG.gif Colgate Raiders (3-1, 0-0) 77

Coach’s Thought’s – Lay-ups by Jonson are the key to this game. He didn’t miss one lay-up and missed six shots (ones that he should not have taken). Morse and Roemer both quietly scored double digits. Morse had three assists and if he keeps the assists going he is a very good player.

Minnesota did not do a good job with Jonson and that is why they lost. If they had guarded him they would have been in contention for the W. But then again, he is impossible to guard. I hope he comes back for his sophomore year. He is a good addition, well needed for this team.

Stats

Colgate

Jonson – 17 points, 4 rebounds, 8-14 FG
Morse – 14 points, 3 assists, 6-18 FG
Roemer – 13 points, 2 rebounds, 5-7 FG

Coach’s Thought’s – I think we could have held Yale under 60 points. I know I played mostly bench players in the second half but I still think the second unit should have increased the lead from 30 to 40. They have the ability. They don’t have the skill set.

Roemer had 36 which was a nice momentum boaster for him. Morse had 13, (double digits, again) Pounds had 19 and Vinson had 11. It was obviously a scoring spree; which plays to our advantage because of playmakers.

We’re looking forward to revenge against Quinnipiac, since they beat us last year. They have a solid team this year but the edge goes to us; all of our playmakers are peaking.

Stats

Roemer – 36 points 14-23 FG, 7-12 3PT

Coach’s Column

This week has been all practice so far about the basics of defense. We showed in this game that we still know the basics. Tomorrow’s lesson is on advanced D. We’ll need it against an amazing offensive team, Drake.

I like how we showed no vulnerability when we were in the lead. We were Dishin’ and Swishin’ and it paid off. We practiced the art of passing this week also. Our team is showing that they can take something in and learn it.

Drake is a very tough team of all aspects. They have a new coach and they are full of firepower, look for a classic match-up that will be remembered for years to come.

Coach's Column

This is what I like to call shut down D. We played excellent in the second half not allowing Drake to score in a span of five minutes. Chones had eight steals and Roemer had five. I am very impressed that they managed to pull this one off.

There was no need for starters after the first half so they did not play. Great offense from many players, three stood out and had double figure games. Chones pulled down seven rebounds leading the team this outing.

I hope we can pass:

Coach's Column - We came out early and often in this game. We were ready with our great style of the 1-3-1 press. I will probably keep this press when I move on to a mid-major because I have found it works most of the time; tha's if you have a star like Morse or Roemer.

Morse is upping in assists and points. Roemer is upping in points and rebounds. Our team crashed the boards nicely, which was nice because that was the point of emphasis every timeout in the last game.

We are being dunked on too much. The double team I have tried to use is not working, so obviously we will stick to man-to-man. I find it a problem when a big guy comes out, the power forward is not closing in to stop it. We will try to fix this problem in practice for the Harvard game.

Our gym was filled in this game and every Raider fan was on their feet at the final horn. I think we gave them a well earned victory. I salute all of you who have come to the games and cheered on these young student athletes.

Coach's Column - It took too long for us establish ourselves. Finally when we did, we were only up by three points, took it away and went up by eleven. A good victory but starters need to open up the lead more.

A lot of the bench players stepped it up, since Morse went 5-18 from the field and 1-11 from three, our leading scorer. Roemer went 2-10 from three and 4-18 from the field. Waddy went 4-9 from the field and 2-5 from downtown. After scoring in double digits twice in the last three games, Waddy will get much more playing time.

We solved the dunking issue. Roemer comes and helps Morse instead of Woodhouse (starting center). I like that we gave up less than 50 points. A good quality game talking of effort. We didn't shoot strong, but our defense helped us out in that aspect.

I know I usually don't do a Player of the Game paragraph but if not for this guy we wouldn't have won this game. Chones is the Player of the Game because of leading us in a column that you probably haven't seen this season, that being rebounds. We don't have many big guy that are quality players. Him pulling down eight boards really helped this game.

Our next oppenent will be the Rams of Rhode Island, we're big underdogs in this one, but we have pulled upsets this season, so I'll be ready for another one.

Coach's Column - This was definatly a fine win because even though we were down by nine in the first half, we stuck to this game. In an ending 19-2 run we pulled off the victory.

Morse had an outstanding, unbelievable 40 point game and Roemer had 17 points. They have been our leading personas on and off the court. When we were down, they weren't and helped pull up the other guys.

On a side note, a guy by the name of Nelson Devonish has a 96% intrest in our school. Devonish is the number one SF and player in the nation. If he does end up coming to Colgate, expect an Final Four run next year.

Kansas State is next on our list and the last non-conference game before a tournament game versus UT-Arlington.

Coach's Column - We played well enough to be in the Top 25 Mid Major Poll; I hope we get a spot in the polls next week. I don't blame Waddy (backup point guard) at all for what he did. Although he "blew the lead", he did what I told him to do. He wasted all the time he could and played good D.

A lot of media has been asking me why I took Morse out of the game so early. I took him out because we were absolutly killing KSU (18-4 lead) and I wanted to give time to Waddy some time.

Next up is the Marist Tournament. This could end up improving us to 12-1, a nice record going into conference play. We play UT-Arlington in the first match-up.

Coach's Column - I like how we were versitile. Our game in the first half was dominant and in the second half relaxed. That's the way I planed it, though. For all of you who didn't watch the game, I played all the starters fifteen out of fifteen minutes in the first half.

The half time score showed my results in the first half, 43-27. I didn't expect my bench players to blow it the way they did. They really need to step it up. I regret my decision of keeping the starters in because they a) were obviously all tired b) I had to put too much pressure on my bench players.

Roemer is injured and is going to miss two weeks (three games) with a bruised tailbone. This is going to hurt our squad deadly and other players such as junior guard Willie Morse will have to step it up. Morse had a well earned 34 in his great effort of 19 minutes.

For the final of the Marist Tournament (Marist doesn't even play in this tournament) I will play Niagara, an 8-2 team with great "stuff" from many aspects. They beat 11* Miami (OH) in the first round, which already gives them prestige.

Coach's Column - We played our hearts out in the final, and we deserved it. This game was between two New York teams, playing in New York at neither of these two teams' court. In the middle of this game our star guard Willie Morse got injured. It so happened that he was unplayable for four minutes; Other players stepped up and did great things.

Roemer also had a huge impact, not only scoring points but building up the team confidence. I had thought before the game that he wasn't going to play but convinced me against the idea and played two thirds of the game. He will not be in the starting line-up against Lehigh.

We have moved into the top five for the Mid-Major Poll ranking third overall. Good conference play will move us into the Top 25 overall. Which I think we can do with heart.

Okay. I was thinking that you were playing 10 or something because your first two game's scores were so low. But then the third was up there.

Yeah you got it perfectly, the first two games I played 10, then I started playing 15. I like 15 much better though. Glad to know someone is following.

Coach's Column - Before I review the game, I'd like to announce that I will have a question and answer where I'll answer any of your questions, from the game to recruiting.

Well this game started out as an absolute dreadful one for Lehigh. We dominated them on all aspects of the game. But the halftime score was 31-34 in there favor. I was very upset we let them go on a 13-3 run at the end of the half.

I made it an absolute dread for the players at the half. Actually I haven't gone that hard in all my days coaching. One of my assistants said that I should cool it down before the Athletic Director came in to check on us at the half. In the second half the kids didn't want to fail my expectations and went up and stayed up to complete the victory.

Coach's Column - When a steals have a difference of twenty-nine, the team that is up on that column will win 99.9% of the time. With great pressure and at least one steal from every player we prevailed in this obnoxious game. We just came with the push the first second we stepped on the court and keeped it until the 30th minute was played.

Another catorgory we did great in was assists. Although they won this battle, we had not had that many assists in a while. It's great when I see the players give it up to there teammates. Basketball is one of the sports where scoring is based around teamwork. You can score by yourself but it will end up hurting you. (Just look at what happened to the Texas Longhorns this year.)

Holy Cross is a very skilled team. I think they can beat us if we don't come out "early and often". We are good enough team to beat them, but if we lose I wouldn't be surprised. Having a good conference record helps in the NCAA Tournament rankings and although I think anyone can beat anyone on any given day, it always helps to have a good seed.

Coach's Column - It's always good to have a star come back to and help out your club. Roemer showed up and was our leader in points, which showed we still have a senior leader. Coming and showing that he wants to be and is a leader helps my job on the court. Although he is not really a coach on the floor, he seems like one to me.

Winning by thirty is refreshing and especially when two players score over twenty-five points. Morse and Roemer did that which gave me lots of options on offense, giving Vinson and Waddy a combined total of twenty-six minutes.

Our next game is against Lafayette a good team worthy of many things. Winning is essential because we lost a game last year in a match-up much like this. SG #21 is a key to stop, a star player. He is a real threat down-town and don't want to mess with this. Contesting his shots are the key to the win.

Coach's Column - With everyone scoring points, we are a real threat. Five players in double digits is what I like to see. When just two players don't have steals, we are a real threat. When we rebound, we are a threat. We did all of these things in this game and we are a threat. This is why we are twenty-second in the country.

Becoming a threat is what I had destined for this team, and we are acomplishing it. With the number one prospect coming I am going to work everyone harder and farther. Devonish (the prospect) is a great all-around player and surely will cause havoc to every team that we play. Being a Raider is to be accepted with pride and I'm sure that he is going to do that.

It's important that we win the rebounding battle we will have to do good somewhere else. Navy's big men are killeres and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have more rebounds than points.

Coach's Thought's - I am not proud of our effort in this game. Yes of course you could say we won, but that means nothing to this team's dismal outing. We were down by eight late in the second half and that itself scared me. Although I believed we would come out victorious, I just felt at some points in this game we gave up. And we are not going to acomplish our goal of winning in the first round if we play like this.

If I were to give out game balls in this game I would have had to give them to Morse and Roemer. Our leaders for eighteen games so far and it would be huge if they didn't get hurt emotionally or phsically down the strech. I like to call them Roemer "Heart," and Morse "Soul." They always have that mentallity and that is why they get the ball at crunch time.

Bucknell is a must win. With our improved ranking we should gane confidence and skill. I can just hope that no one gets hurt considering that can be an oppenents strongest weakness. This is sure to be a game of runs and we are ready for 'em, running twenty sucicides today at the end of practice.
