On a personal note, DONT expect this to be very flashy. I am doing this for myself.... if I wanted fancy things I would start over at dynasty manager. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I do writing it. Yes, I did take liberties on certain player's abilities, but I feel I know enough about the Cards to do this correctly. Schedule is coming in a bit!

CARDS WIN SEASON OPENER!

It was quite a night for freshman guard Edgar Sosa. Sosa scored 19 points and dished out 5 assists in his first collegiate game. Sosa burst onto the scene this season and sent senior Brandon Jenkins from the 1 to the 2 guard. Jenkins finished the night with 9 points.

The one guy that Coach Powell has harped on since arriving in Louisville is forward Terrence Williams.

"Williams is quite possibly the most athletically gifted young man to put on a Louisville uniform," said Powell.

Tonight "T-Will" had a terrific start to his 06-07 season. Williams poured in 15 points to go along with 5 assists and 2 steals. The most impressive stat was his field goal percentage. T-Will finished the night 6-6 from the floor and 2-2 from behind the arc.

Northwestern State gave the Cardinals trouble in early in the first half. The full court trap gave the Louisville guards some trouble early on. The Cards finished the first half on a 15-4 run that put them up 38-25. Louisville would coast to an easy 69-51 win.

Sosa: 19 points, 5 assists, 2 TO
Jenkins: 9 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 TO
Williams: 15 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals
Palacios: 6 points, 4 rebounds
Padgett: 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals
Clark: 2 points and 2 TO
Smith: 6 points and 1 steal
Caracter: 3 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists
Farley: 3 points and 2 rebounds

CARDS SOAR OVER FLYERS!

The Dayton Flyers came into Freedom Hall 4-0 on the year. The Cards didnt seem to care as they absolutely demolished Dayton 77-56. Louisville was led by senior guard Brandon Jenkins who scored 22 points. Terrence Williams added 19 points and 2 steals.

The 1-3-1 zone defense that Coach Taylor Powell implemented in the offseason was definately a reason for the blowout. The Louisville 1-3-1 forced 16 Dayton turnovers, which is a season high for the Flyers.

"Anytime you can force turnovers like we did tonight, you have a great chance at winning. The turnovers led to high percentage shots including dunks." claimed Coach Powell.

Last season was a difficult time for Juan Palacios. Palacios suffered multiple injuries that prevented him from playing at full strength. In the second game of the season, it is obvious that Palacios is back at full force. The 6'8 junior grabbed a team high 7 rebounds.

Louisville turned this game into a track meet by scoring 21 points in transition. It seemed like every time you looked up, a Louisville defender was sprinting the other way with the basketball.

Jenkins: 22 points, 3 assists, 2 steals
Williams: 19 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals
Clark: 8 points and 2 assists
Padgett: 6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks
Sosa: 4 points and 3 assists
Palacios: 4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals
Johnson: 4 points, 3 assists, 2 steals
McGee: 3 points and 1 assist
Scott: 3 points
Smith: 2 points and 2 assists
Caracter: 2 points and 3 rebounds

The game against Sacramento State was simmed and Louisville won 72-63. The other big news is that All American and South Carolina "Mr. Basketball" Caron Coleman has signed with the Louisville Cardinals. Coleman is a 6'4 shooting guard out of Columbia, SC. He ranks as the eighth best player in this year's class and the second best shooting guard. His vitals are below:

Offense=A
Shooting=A
Rebounding=B+
Hustle=A
Leaping=A+
Quickness=B+

CARDS TAME WILDCATS AT MSG!

Madison Square Garden hasn't been kind to Rick Pitino's Cardinals in the past. Tonight was definately the exception. Terrence Williams scored 22 points in a 66-61 win over the Arizona Wildcats.

Louisville also received a contribution from big man David Padgett. Padgett scored 7 points, but pulled down 7 rebounds and blocked 5 shots. Louisville will need this good play to continue if they want their ticket to the Big Dance.

"We really got after it tonight on defense and it led to easy fast break points, but we still have to concentrate on rebounding the basketball on defense. Nine offensive rebounds is ludacris" proclaimed Coach Powell

Louisville led by as many as 15 during the first half. Arizona weathered the storm and cut the Cardinal lead to 9 before the break. Arizona would never say die and stayed in until around 2 minutes left in the game.

Terrence Williams stuck the dagger with his only 3 pointer of the night to extend the Louisville lead to 9 points. Edgar Sosa scored 12 points and collected 6 steals in his home state of New York.

Sosa: 12 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals
Jenkins: 5 points, 2 assists, 2 steals
Williams: 22 points, 3 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks
Palacios: 8 points, 6 rebounds
Padgett: 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 5 blocks
Clark: 8 points and 3 assists
Smith: 2 points
Caracter: 2 points and 4 rebounds
