I am probably going to look stupid, but how many people play the 1-3-1 zone? I am one who does. I like to put the guards in the corners and then put the SF up top. I leave my PF and C in the lane with the C behind the PF

Anyways I didnt know if others used it........ I get tons of steals because the computer ALWAYS wants to throw the ball inside the paint.

i use the 2-3 matchup zone because it plays more like a man to man matchup this is the only defense i mostly use or maybe just a 2-3

Yeah man, I like to use the 1-3-1 with one huge center, then start 2 SF's and 2 guards. You should check this out. I didn't read the whole thing but found it interesting. It explains the 1-3-1 using COllege Hoops 2k7.

I love using the 1-3-1 and only use that Defense! You need a really quick center though because they need to get over to the sidelines for the deep three point shooters that like to sit by the corner of the court and launch. Just remember to run at them with the triggers pushed in and jump to block at the last second.

I also use the 1-3-1 and run it like this
---------C-----------
SG-----PF---------SF
--------PG----------
I also like to press my opponents and i can get a lot of steals and fast breaks because my pg is really quick
The only drawback is the 3-point shot...i've had ucla shoot 70% from 3 on me

I also use the 1-3-1 as my primary defense. It works best against teams who always try to throw the ball down low. The downside to this is, the computer despite all the turnovers will not change their passing patterns so then I end up with close to 20 if not more then 20 steals (14 min halves on All-America with a small school) each game. it will 90% of the time lead to a fast break for me.
But against teams who work the perimeter against me and use the shot clock, i tend to give up more shots and the turnover differential is not as large. the game thus becomes much more realistic.
But yeah, 1-3-1 works great for forcing turnovers and turning them into fast break opportunities, i leave my PG at the top so he shoots down floor as soon as my C or PF comes up with the steal.

Correct me if I'm wrong since I haven't played organized ball since high school, but don't you want you guard at the top and bottom, fowards on the wings and center in the middle? Reason being is the top and bottom guys have to cover the most area (sideline to sideline) so quickness is key. I would think if you are putting your slower guys at those two spots you are putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Good idea putting a guard at top and bottom, but if you put him at botton you will sacrifice some rebounds. I put my SF up top because he's got greater reach and is heavier, so he can stop the PG cold. Causes more turnovers. My SG and PG are better defenders on the wings than my slower SF...so they limit 3s. Then with my PF in the center and C down low, or vice versa, they stop lane and low post drives. Just the way I do it.

I personally go with the 3-2 and I always play with the PG up top. Grabbing boards has never really been much a problem for me but the computer making all kinds of wacky 3's is. The 3-2 helps me guard the 3 a lot better. My secondary offense is man to man. I tried the machup zone, but too many guys were getting wide open layups.
