Well, this may come alittle bit late in the game but I just got hired by James Madison after taking Brown to Round Two of the NCAA Tournament and the Sweet 16 the next time. So I decided after reading afew of these that I would do one of these starting with the first game so here you go lol hopefully you enjoy and yes, the format was alittle bit inspired by another Legacy.

Coachs Thoughts

A good way to start the season with a home game win, but that being said to many mistakes were made in the second half. However a win is a win and We did do a good job of adapting to what there defense was doing. As they started doubling teaming Borges outside, he became a way to distract defense towards him and away from our Fowards and Centers who really shined in the paint for the first half this game. In the second half Borges rebounded from a low scoring half (only scoring 6 points the entire time) and threw his weight around defensivly and offensivly as he blocked the smaller guards shooting threes, grabed the rebounds and toke liberitys with Three pointers as well as dunks leading us to a 20 point lead at one point.

Considering its the first game I think we did okay but the Freshman line has to work harder on not turning over ball and applying more preasure defensivly. Hopefully with our next game we'll rebound stronger.

High scorer of the game: Borges - 15 points

Louisiana-Lafayette Rajin' Cajuns

Final Score: 62 - 61

Coachs Thoughts

Another win but barely even that, the Cajuns toke control of the first half as Borges sat on the bench for most of the half with foul trouble. With a key player out of our line up the Cajuns droped 3's while we cooled off in to a slump after taking after going up 10 - 3 in the first 5 minutes. Though we heated up towards the end of the half closing in at 23-31, I still wouldnt mind forgeting that half all together.

Second half was played alot better offensivly as Borges came off the bench and scored all 13 of his points in the second half and led the team with 6 assists. Thankfully our defense started closing in on the three point shooters, grabing more rebounds and forcing some more steals. Towards the end as Borges cooled off, there Inside game came back to life and really gave us a run for our money as they toke the lead with 2 minutes left.

None of our guys seemed to be as clutch as we'd hoped for, Whitaker missed free throws, players wern't hitting the wide open threes generaly just falling back in to a routine that began in the first half when they started losing. With 45 seconds left Borges throws up a three and hits the rim allowing Leonard to reach up and slam it back making it 60-61. Cajuns miss a shot force a foul on Borges who sinks both with 3 seconds left, they couldn't hit the duece to win... Hard fought Victory in front a home town crowd.

High Scorer: Leonard - 15 points (all in the paint)

Miami(FL) Hurricanes

Final Score: 93-73

Coach Thoughts

If only all games could be played as well as this one, we went in to this game knowing that we would have to be patient and be constant from all areas of the court and we did just that. Everyone stayed out of foul trouble was calm when score wasn't exactly on there side, I'm very proud of this team and the way they played.

Considering at the half we were down 39-48, the come back we made was slow but it was perfect. The ball was passed by Borges leading to his first double double and 4 other team mates breaking in to the double digits.

Miami like the team we expected never stoped pressing the action on both sides of the court but made mistakes that were able to capitolize on during fast breaks. Our defense started double teaming there key players who dished it out to there weaker shooter who started falling apart at the three point line leading to our win.

Out first real tests should come this week where we play our first games on the road against some tough teams who are on a win streak like us.

Stand Out Players
Borges - 30 points - 10 assists
Radziejewski - 20 points - 2 assists

Coachs Thoughts

The Bench really sealed this one for us, everyone in the starting line up wasn't expecting them to come out and force the shots they did in the paint and outside. But a wins a win again on home court but the crowd wasn't so pumped about it.

As they limited our power houses of Leonard and Borges to just 11 points a piece, the bench steped up and passed the ball perfectly leading to almost everyone who came off the bench to get 2 or more assists. Disapointing for the starters after the lit it up behind the arch last game but we did what he had to do to win, even if it ment benching Borges to allow playing time for others.

The big story for this game, anytime Borges got a touch it was a turn over contributing to 12 of the 16 turn overs in both halfs. Solid effort from the bench but you can expect that the starters will have something to prove in the next game.

Stand Out Players
Radziejewski - 13 points - 3 assists
Leonard - 11 points - 3 assists
Borges - 11 points - 1 assist

Coachs Thoughts

Coming up on our first road game we wanted to make examples of what teams could expect out of us. This game did farely well in highlighting Borges but the rest of the team had a hard time falling to any kind of grove offensivly.

Never falling behinde in the score we toke control fast and stayed that as we pounded out alot of our shots in the paint, drawing fouls and going to the line almost everytime we went to the hoop during the first half. leaving them with only 17 points at the half.

Second Half we kept up the solid scoring but our defensive unit fell apart allowing 36 points. Not acceptable by any means and we'll be looking to improve that against Dayton.

Stand Out Players
Borges - 25 points - 0 assists - 1 rebound
Leonard - 10 points - 3 assist - 6 rebounds

Dayton Flyers

Final Score: JMU - 73 DAY - 40

Coachs Thoughts

Out scoring a team by 33 points? I'll take it! After seeing the offensive lines being shut down in the last game We switched up our main offensive play to Duke Motion and boy did it ever work. Everyone on the team got a touch and every player made a diffrence in this game.

The First half started slow, we went up by 10 early but foul trouble came as Dayton drove to the line and picked up some quick fouls on Borges who was benched with 0 points for the half. As we got used to the use of Duke Motion our team really started driving in and kicking it out to open person in three point land which gave us a strong lead lead going in to the half.

Coming out they started adapting to Duke Motion as Borges finally put himself on the board from the free throw line. We cooled off for abit as we started driving the ball in and missing lay ups allowing them to come back in within ten points. But Borges came back to life as Duke Motion came back in to play feeding every body who got on the court with him the ball for three along with picking up 16 points for the half. Great showing which hopefully we can replicate on the road tomorrow.

Stand Out Players
Borges - 16 points - 3 assists - 1 rebound
Leonard - 8 points - 3 assists - 4 rebounds

Right now All Confrence I've been debating moving it up because the teams of been alot easier playing against then with Brown (brown was hard as hell to get wins with even against Ivy League teams) i'll probably give All American a go later if the next game is a stomping to

Sounds good, I usually don't bump up the difficulty level during mid season, I wait until the beginning of my next season, I just like it better that way. Either next year or the year after the level of play will be bumped up to MOP.

James Madison Dukes

Final Score: LOY - 58 JMU - 66

Coachs Thoughts

Another road game and another win, Loyola was with us there the whole time and thankfully we came away with the win. Nothing to be ashamed off here Three pointers were working when clutch, driving the paint was working to perfection the whole time to keep us in the lead.

After a slow first half still in the lead, the crowd was out of it completly you could hear a pin drop in that building, which played a big factor in our victory. No team wants to keep playing in front of a dead crowd and Loyola fell right in that.

Next Game, VCU at home and were expecting a heck of a match the whole way through, needless to say were going to running alot of drills to make sure we come away with another W and our win streak intact.

Stand Out Players
Borges: 20 points - 0 assists - 1 rebounds

Final Score: JMU - 68 VCU - 56

Coachs Thoughts

Boy did they ever give us a scare, these guys came out and toke control of the three point line early. Our guys just wern't clicking any where on the court as they played everyone of there shooters to loosely then didn't react fast enough to get a hand up for a block. But what we got on the offensive end we toke as modest as it was it kept us from being blown out of the game 5 mintues in to it.

Going in to the half we got it to 24-26 by hitting a buzzer beater three which really lifted the teams spirts going back on to the court. We closed the gap slowly and by 2 mintues in we had tied and were at the foul line were we needed to be. I don't know what happened to the other team going in to the half way point of the half but they fell apart allowing Borges and Gadson to hit clutch threes allowing our home to crowd to come back to life.

If one person wasn't happy with this game it was Leonard who came away with only 2 points and 4 rebounds for the game.

Stand Out Players
Borges: 22 points - 2 assists - 0 rebounds
Quadri - 14 points - 1 assist - 4 rebounds

NOTE: Bumped up to All American on both of these games and every game after this

Clemson Tigers

Final Score: JMU - 66 CLM - 64

Coachs Thoughts

One hell of a game if I say so myself right off the first inbound Clemson was preasurring us, not allowing us to run up court and get shots off before there defense set, forcing us to pass three or four times just to get it out of our half usualy ending in a turn over.

But I'm still proud of my team, like our last few games where we were down at the half we came back to win but no where near as dominating this time. Clemson never stoped shooting threes even with Tight defense and preasure from all over the court, but they made mistakes which allowed us to come back and close the 5 point gap at half.

Borges may not have scored a record game for him but he clinched this game for us, in the dying seconds of a tied game Borges hit the lay up we needed and blocked the Three attempt from deep.

High Scorers
Malaman - 17 points - 1 assist - 0 rebounds

North Carolina A&T Aggies

Final Score: JMU - 75 NCAT - 66

Coachs Thoughts

If I was to say I was suprised by this win, I'd be lying the aggies matched up badly with our Offense. As we kept with the tight defense they turned over the ball enough times in the first half to give us a sizeable lead (42-28 at the half).

The second half was played alittle slower, The Aggies made some changes and made it harder for us to get the steal but offensivly we toke our time and got alot of second chance rebounds.

Next Game, should be abit more of a challenge as we face The Texas-El Paso Miners.

Stand Out Players
Borges - 21 points - 2 assists - 3 rebounds
Malaman - 16 points - 1 assist - 4 rebounds

Final Score: JMU - 73 UTEP - 63

Coachs Thoughts

Another really hard fought basketball game, The miners really toke us off our game to and made it hard to get any kind of streak going on the offensive end. Even when they would cool off they got back in to postion quickly and didn't allow us to get out Run and Gun style working.

Thanks to stand out halfs from Borges, Leonard, Quadri and Gadson we really came back and toke control early in the second half. If Quadri and Gadson were alittle more consistant on the offensive end they could really have a break out season if they had games like this everytime.

Stand out Players
Borges - 24 points - 2 assists - 3 rebounds
Leonard - 19 points - 1 assist - 4 rebounds

Caochs Thoughts

This game was alot closer then it should have been, I don't care how badly a team matches up on paper this kind of proformance for our players was horrible to say the least.

While we always had the lead, None of our Players were clicking on the offensive end outside of the impressive proformance from Borges. Though our team on the defensive end not only grabed more rebounds then the other team but blocked more shots as well.

Hopefully we rebound with a strong showing against Northeastern tomorrow.

Coachs thoughts:

A road game like this was really a gimme, Northeastern came in with a horrible record of 2-10 and let us run over them on there turf early and often in this game. Not to mention that the crowd was dead 2 mintues in to it, you can't ask from much more from a game.

While our star players outside of Borges had another hard game scoring wise, They found a way to help everytime Northeastern would run down the court Hands where in there face every shot that went out and they grabed down almost every rebound on defense.

Stand Out Players
Borges - 35 points - 0 rebounds - 0 assists
Malaman - 16 points - 2 rebounds - 0 assits

Final Score: JMU - 72 BCE - 58

Coaches Thoughts
Our team coming off a very close victory in the first round were alittle raddled but boy did we come out to play tonight. a solid effort from everyone, even the bench got some time towards the end and kept with the flow of the game nicely.

The First half was alittle sketchy, we were still geting used to our 1-3-1 defence and double thru offense, but we did enough to keep them out of our paint and force them to take late shots. As the Malaman shot lights out, Whitaker played an awesome decoy as he drove to the line keeping an eye out for anyone on the outside looking for threes.

In the Second we really came in to our zone but the road crowd seemed to keep steady through the whole game never giving up on there team. Radziejewski really put the nail in the coffin mid way through as witaker found him right in the paint allowing him to dunk over there 7 foot center.

Stand Out Players
Borges - 27 points - 2 assists - 2 rebounds - 5 steals
Malaman - 23 points - 0 assists - 3 rebounds - 4 steals
