I love the NFL and that is the only reason i buy madden every year (although i always go back to playin 2k5 and edit rosters to what is current). If EA sports was to make a generic game i dont think anyone would buy it including me. I am a die hard football fan and player and i cant wait for All Pro to come out but i will be disapointed if it is not customizable to something close to the NFL. I will buy the game regardless of what it has in it but i truly believe that if this game wants to succeed then it will need to be close to the NFL.
I don't have Xbox Live and i dont plan on getting it so Im looking for a good game to play by myself and with my friends and if it is a game that is very far from the NFL then I believe that will take alot of value away from the game even if the football aspect is amazing.
You people who keep telling everyone that you only want a game that is great for playing football and that you don't want something that is like the NFL are wrong. No gameplay will ever give a person the feel of real football period. Its much more fun to use players in the NFL and play as your faverite team (College Football also but thats another story). So i am hoping that this game will mirror the NFL in some way and that it will be custamizable. Am I wrong? Does anyone think this game will be very succesfull as a game very far from the NFL?

I think it will be every bit as successful as Blitz The League, which was fairly successful. I think APF 2K8 will surpass the Blitz success, even if the NFL can't be mirrored in the game.

i believe the game will be very successfull, when it releases, because its not madden, and it finally gives others like me and others here, finally another choice in football gaming again.

Well when EA first got the license i figured it would be another 5 years before i could play another 2k football game so i tryed to play madden (because i love the NFL) and like it so therefore i have bought madden each year since the license. I do NOT plan on buying madden this year and that is why i was saying i hope 2k8 is something like the NFL.
I just wanted to know how many other people out there feel the same way I do or oppose my opinion.

I understand Believe me.But..for you to say people are wrong for thinking that a game can not be of the same "value" because it's not close to the NFL,is not your call to make,if it is something YOU feel is a must have then fine, but the last time i checked Football itself is not defined by the NFL.Throwing ,Catching, running the ball etc is Football,If done right this game will blow away madden or anything else on the market,Do you mean to tell me that college football is not real football or the Indoor football is not real football,Its Football! If you want the NFL names and Jerseys Play madden,You do love the NFL!Right. My Point is, if 2ksports makes this game were you can custom it to your liking, put your own names and colors, player ratings close to the NFL,will you still see Madden as Real Football??Even though the All Pro Football plays more Like the Real Thing??Does it matter that Much to you??Are is having a Better FOOTBALL GAME matter more??

"GT: I think that we've come up with some very unique ideas on how to play a football game, and I think that there's room for both. I think those people who want the NFL are going to be able to get their fill of the NFL, and I think that there's people who are going to feel like, "Hey, with the NFL game I didn't get my fill of everything I wanted for football." And I think there's other people who are going to say, even with the Blitz game, or whatever other games are going to be made for football, "I still didn't get a good enough feel for football," when they see what we're putting out. "
It says there black and white that you will somehow get your fill for the NFL. I am so sick of the posts that say it wont when a freaking representative said it will.

Like i have said before, there's no reason why a game has to resemble the NFL in any way, I mean there's no reason at all why they culdn't use any other league from around the world. Personally I think there is just enough of a market for a company to make a game based on the BAFL, not only would it increase the popularity of football in the UK (Which can only be a good thing) it would give a much needed financial boost to that league.

Lets put it this way, they COULD dredge out a copy cat league thats sorta like the NFL, and id be OK with it. Or they could get creative and make something exciting and new, without being cheesy. The NFL is good and all, I just dont think making a copy cat league is going to make people more interested in this game. They need to turn this negative into a positive.
Personally, im kinda sick of the NFL. Sure its fun for alittle while to play with certain players. But when you get down to it, and your running the play, the fun factor is in the gameplay itself. And the game will be ace in that department.

Thats a good point. I forgot about that when i made this thread. I only read the interview entirely once. And i never said it would. I just said i hoped it would be like the NFL.

What's a good point? Sorry gjsii13 but your reading comprehension skills need ALOT of work man. In NO WAY are they saying anything about this game being NFL related. What they are saying is , without mentioning Madden by name, is that if you want your NFL related game the you can play Madden but if you don't get your fill of footbal then you have APF2K8 option which will , if you read between the lines again, give you your REAL football experience.
gjsii13 you qouted that but you also forgot to qoute the question that was asked that provoked that response.
GS: Other publishers have made stabs at non-NFL football games. We have Midway's Blitz revamp, and Sony tried with an ill-fated football game [Road to Sunday]. How do you view the market for "unofficial" football products, and how do you go about ensuring that All-Pro Football thrives in that market?

I think the representative was meaning that people who need an NFL fix can get Madden, but those who need more of a good feel of the game of football will get our game. At least that's what I got from the article when i read it originally; you can't get a fix of the NFL without the NFL right?
I also think the above is what he meant because he mentions people who want their Blitz style game, can get that in the Midway game. So he's arguing that everyone out there will be able to get a game that they want and that represents their particular tastes.
I think his main point is that there game will represent the game of FOOTBALL better than anyone else and that in itself already has a huge demand out there, even though they lack the license of the NFL.

I agree with you on some points there but then why do fans like me go out and buy madden each year knowing that it will not have gameplay equivalant to 2k5. Its because i want some NFL aspect of the game. I cant even play 2k5 anymore unless i have my rosters updated (which i do myself) to something close to todays rosters. Gameplay can only do so much. If i really want to play football i do it for real. I play video games for the exitment of being in a NFL game or College game. And thats why i buy madden even though it is such a piece of ****. I like that fact that its the NFL but i know Maddens not going to be fun in the football aspect and that it really isnt even fun to play competitivly. Winning in madden doesnt prove that you know anything about football at all. Its the computer that does all the work in that game. I bought blitz the league(which is somewhat far from the NFL) the day it came out and I was very dissapointed. 2k8 will most likely be much better than both games and even better with a NFL mirror. I am very pleased that i will be able to play a new 2k football game again. Im just saying it will be way better with something close to the NFL. The NFL liesence gets me buying that piece of **** madden every year so if 2k has anything even close to the NFL it will blow me away.

If it's an accurate and fun representation of how the game of football is played,
I don't gave a damn whose name is on the box or what logos are on the helmets.
The inclusion of a license does not make a game great, nor is the lack of one a death sentence.
Let's put it this way: if a game was great just because it had the NFL license, then my copy of Madden 07 wouldn't suck so hard.
I love the NFL too, but I love the game of football even more.

Rob I agree with you here! Good points. I play Blitz and I love it because it's original. The only thing is that obviously the gameplay is a too arcadey. We need a APF 2K8 to bring us a solid original SIM football game. Then I can also continue playing Blitz if they make another version of that game. I am not too concerned about the names as long it plays a good game of football.
