View Full Version : Have to move Willis...any ideas?

OK, so the trade deadline is coming up and im not in contention. Im sitting in 3rd a game ahead of the Braves but well back of the Mets for the division and 7 back of Philies for the Wildcard.
Willis wont sign, says he really wants to test the market so im forced to move him. I dont know what my budget will be next year but I still need to sign Miggy and Ramirez.

Im looking to get a young arm and maybe an outfielder, center would be best. Im also willing to part with Willingham in order to get a package deal.

So far I thought of Melky Cabrera and Philip Hughes (sp) for Willis.
Id take Pelfrey also but I dont want to send Willis to the Mets
Gwynn Jr. and Capuano for Willis...can Milwaukee sign Willis though?
Rich Hill...dont the Cubs have an outfield prospect? I cant remember the name.

Any Ideas? I want to keep this realistic, so I dont want to trade him to a team that wouldnt have a chance to resign him.

Wow man those are some good deals, and your right, dont trade him to the Mets. See what best helps your team for now/the future.

I think the first one would be a good deal, and fair. Trade him to the Yanks

Well im not at home right now so I dont know how much interest the cpu will have towards any of these deals lol...just bored at work, thought i could get some cool ideas here

Ya im leaning towards that one so far. I like Melky in center over Amezega and Hughes is a 70 overall.Sucks they dont have the audio for his name tho...that and id be damning the Jays to 2-3 finishes forever lol

Well trade him anyways, and by luck.. you might still see him in the Free Agent market in the offseason.. I have delt players away cause they wouldn't sign and they ended up becoming FA with the other team. So you can still get the luck by getting him back in the offseason..

The D-trains sick, if you really cant hang on to him, when hes just turned 25 the I guess you gotta do what you gotta do and trade him so you atleast get soemhting for him.

I say trade Willis for Homer Bailey for the reds. Might be able to get Homer Bailey, and Jay Bruce

I just got this game a couple of days ago so I don't know about all the features. Where does it tell you that he won't sign with you in the offseason?

Chino51
April 4th, 2007, 11:54 AM
If i cant sign him now, I doubt I could outbid anyone in the off season lol..im the Marlins!
Plus I have to sign Miggy and Ramirez. Johnson did amazing for me tho, so he can take the aces hole no problem.just gonna need someone in that 5 spot.

In the franchise screen, go to GM at the top and choose contracts. You can see who makes what and for how long. Willis is like 5 Mil and going into free agency. When i Offer him my bank his agent gives you a comment.

For the 5 spot, sign an up and comer. Usually the fifth man in the rotation is the young guy that is expected to be the ace in a couple of years.

If i send him to the Yankees for hughes will the cpu keep him in the minors?

Georgiatech..thats the plan dude lol

Are you playing on the 360 or what?

Don't make the same mistake the Nats did last year and not deal your best player when your not going to be able to sign him in the offseason.

I say Cabrera and Hughes would be a good deal. Two bright and young stars. Otherwise I'm sure you could do a really nice one for one deal for him or you could do a nice package deal. Try and find a good young player who is a starter already from someone.

what about like Carl Crawford...he might be kinda expensive though. the Phil Hughes deal would be a good one though

Carl Crawford would be a great trade. He is young and is one of the best at his position. The CPU has him batting third but I really think he's a one or two spot.

He would just add to the youth that the Marlins already have.

Ya, I thought about the Rays but they arnt contending and also wouldnt be able to resign Willis.

Well im trying to keep my franchise some what realistic, so ya I want to put him on a contender.

The Melky deal wouldn't be bad, and it would be realistic seeing how the Yankees would go after him since he is a big name player lol.

I would also go with the Yankees trade. I could definitely see that happening in real life. You get someone compared to Roger Clemens, and give up someone you couldn't sign. You could then lock up Hughes to a big contract. Also, you can make them say "hughes" on the game, by instead of just changing his last name yourself, select it from the list of last names that they give you.

Rich Hill...dont the Cubs have an outfield prospect? I cant remember the name.

Felix Pie is the Cubs Top prospect. Center field

Its done. D-Train has been traded for Melky Cabrera and Philip Hughes. CPU interest was 75%

God help the Bosox, Jays and the rest of the AL :rotfl:

I just tried that and it didnt work.Still says Hansen. I changed his first name also, not sure if that matters.

Well, Hughes debut went pretty fu***** sweet to say the least.

July 13 vs the Nats.
Phil Hughes 6ip 5h 1r 3so 1bb for the win.
Melkey Cabrera 3/5 1rbi 1r 1sb and 2 nice sliding grabs out in center

good stuff my friend...Hughes will be front of the rotation quality for years to come, and Melky will provide some D and speed out in the outfield.

Need to trade Willis as well and have offered the Orioles - Willis, Boone and Gardner(no idea who he is, GM challenge said I needed to get rid of him)

In return the Orioles have offered me Bedard and Markakis, or Bedard, Cabrera and Loewen. What do you think? Time to pull the trigger?

I would do the Bedard and Markakis, you get a decent pitcher and a great young outfielder that can be good for years.

You could do that trade with the yanks and try to get Keith Irvin (Kei Igawa). Just an idea.

i think you should send him off to the phillies try to pick up Cole Hamels and a prospect like Carlos Ruiz who is a good young catcher since the marlins dont have great catchers

You could try to see if you could work something with the braves to get Chuckie James, and either Matt Diaz or Ryan Lagerhans. That would give you a good arm in the field and James is a stong left hander who can get a lot of K's....

Wow, either deal is a good one. If you take Bedard/Markakis you get a good young lefty and a strong outfielder who can hit. If you take the three-pitcher deal, you can spin one or two of them (or someone else from your team since you should have a ton of depth) for another need.

Can't go wrong with either deal.
