Well, I was half asleep an hour ago until I read the post about the new site. Now I can't go to bed. It's just great to see some positive responses, the forums being moderated and 2K Football.

its the PERFECT alternative to NFL football. take all the greats we loved, and focus on them. no more generic Barry, but an actual barry designed with effort as if he were still playing. Old school players making ol'school hits. games will be about performance and not stats, but you still have to know your strengths. as long as the team names/uiforms arent too cheesy, it'll feel like an NFL game. It also gives NFL fans an upside to when their favorite players retire..will Tiki be a download??

Its funny how you people get excited over legends being in the game. Its not like Madden had hall of famers in their game. lol
Oh my god great idea....2k is putting legends in a game. Nobody has ever thought of that!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! Ya'll have been waitin a while for any news about a football game from 2k.

I myself very nearly started a thread called 'Tears of Joy'.....it's ok to cry...this is a monumental day in sports gaming history.......now if I could just get 2k to make about 50 classic teams for NBA and MLB.....

yeah madden has it in madden 07, but it sucks. the legends dont fit into madden, since they are mixed into players that are currently playing. APF OWNS.

Why would people be excited about Legends in a Madden game when Madden the game itself suxxx????
That is why people are so excited about this...NFL tie-in plus INCREDIBLE gameplay...the universe is saved!!!

I have to admit that the announcements of the inclusion of legends isn't all that thrilling to me. First, why is everyone acting like this is new information? We knew they were going to include legends in the game months ago. This just confirms something the world already knew.
Second, I honestly think playing the game with legends will get old pretty quickly for me. (I may be in the minority here, but I'm more interested in a game mode's depth and realism than in using a single player who happens to be in the HOF.) I'm trying to reserve judgment on the game until I play it myself - it's foolish for anyone to form a real opinion of the game without doing so - but the news that legends are going to be part of the game is not the "big news" I was hoping to see this morning.

Yes, we knew LEGENDS would be in the game, but we really didn't know what LEGENDS. I'm not sure if you've seen the list, or how you are, but for me(37 yrs old) many players on that list I grew up watching or heard stories about when I was growing-up..
Players like:
Earl Campbell (Houston RB)
Curt Warner (Seahawks RB)
Brian Bosworth (Seahawks LB)
Anthony Munoz (Bengals OL)
Dave Meggett (NY Giants RB)
Pepper Johnson (NY Giants LB)
Marcus Allen (Raiders RB)
Gary Payton (Bears RB)
or how bout
Jack Tatum (Raiders DB)
Gale Sayers (Bears RB)
**** Butkus (Bears LB)
**** "Night Train" Lane (LA Rams DB)
Just to name a few...
For those of us who love FOOTBALL this is gr-8 news. Sorry you don't feel the same :(

I grew up watching/loving the NY Giants with Meggett, O.J. Anderson, Pepper Johnson, LT, Carl Banks, Stephen Baker, Phil Simms, Mark Bavaro, Myron Guyton, Everson Walls, etc.
I'm excited about being able to play with some of those guys and other legends I loved watching, but I was never one who got excited about the inclusion of legends in any other game, so I'm not sure yet how this will be much different.
I am willing to wait for more news, and I'm sure I will at least rent the game when it comes out to give it a try. I'm not saying I'm upset or not going to buy the game; it's way too early to make statements like that, but I am disappointed by the lack of a Franchise mode and by the apparent lack of customization available in the game.
That said, it will be pretty cool to see Meggett returning some punts again and to see Pepper Johnson and Carl Banks filling holes at LB!

Those 85-90 Giants were something else.... I personally think they will set-it up, where you have a set # of Legends you can put on a team(Maybe 5 Offense & 5 Defense or something to that sort) & you fill your roster with a bunch of genric players. This would enforce balance & make people think wisely about how they draft there teams.
If this can be done right, we might have a sleeper hit on our hands

No one has ever pulled it off like this. Before you had maybe 10-20 legends in the game. This is just going to be whole damn teams. Before you played with say the 88 Niners, and none of the guys would actually be there. IT was fake numbers and names.
In my opinion this is the best thign they could have doine not having the NFL rights.

Because the game play to me, was pretty ****t, it reminded me of the xbox version with just a tad better graphics. The exact same plays. They exact same movement. I Have been a huge football fan since i was 7 years old, never missing a weekend of the nfl in over 23 or so years. I never get sick of the "real thing", but madden is just imo horrible.

It's silly to ask, "Why the excitement"
We haven't seen anything 2K Football in 3 years. We heard rumors, then they were confirmed. Now, a really cool concept has come to fruition and they have the site up and giving us an idea of what to expect.
This is the biggest amount of info since the game was confirmed. Heck yeah I'm excited.

I don't think he said nobody has ever thought of the idea..the guy is just excited cause he knows 2k knows how to make games and EA doesn't..and being that excited about a game is pretty ****ing weird.

Dude, EA is falling like the PS3. Ha. Death to both of them. (but seriously, death to EA, because they've created a monopoly in gaming).

I'm absolutely excited for this game and 2K isn't even including my free hookers and cheeseburgers deal. I cannot wait to just DISMANTLE all of you with Johnny Unitas.
