I cant see EA sittin back and letin this game come out without trying to take legal action. BUT I can greatly assume that once you retire you are not bound by the NFLPA!!!
240 retired players is a crazy amount of retired players. And they are talking about MORE to come. Very very impressive.
As long as the gameplay is based in simulation style I am ALL for it. I dont want too play a game like NFL street with legends!!!!
2K must have been saving a nice little bit of change to pay all of these players. I assume that they wont have any players on the cover as to avoid having to PAY one legend more then the other.
For all that said this game wont sell has to rethink that......marketing with ex NFL players will make it easier to market and sell.
No one can say they have played a game that offers what this game is offering. Yeah past Maddens have had retired players in the Free Agent pool but nothing as focused as this.
I know 2K was sittin back while mofos was moanin and cryin just laughing knowing what they had up there sleeve.
APF has moved up on my must have titles!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While we didn't know the extent of the legends involved, the article clearly said there would be legends involved. It's not like it was really hidden up their sleeve as you said, just that people chose to ignore it, much as people have made crazy ideas about customization or franchise despite clear evidence on the contrary.

1) Alot of hard work I would assume
2) EA can try whatever they want but retired players have no ties to the NFL and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if some dudes signed up for free considering how mad quite a few retired players are with the NFL as it is.

I seriously only thought a few legends would be promoting the game. I didnt think they would have full rosters of nfl legends. I am seriously freaking impressed by this. I couldnt be more happier.

Nothing EA can do unless 2K uses Legends that are still contracted by the NFL; like Deion Sanders.

EA might try to buy VC to stop this game from coming out.....lol
Just kidding, I know the people at EA Sports are down playing this game right now... but once word of mouth spreads and more details about the game play emerges, there will be a buzz at EA. If the this Game sells really well.. I would imagine that EA would try to put out a game that rivals APF in 2009. Great job VC!! Most of your fan base are behind you 100%!!

Yeah...it is a lot more NFL players than I ever dreamed....great for the gamer and great for marketing the product to snare a few Maddenheads.....I know, but increased sales are a good thing for 2k.

The funny thing is, any of us that played the old ESPN football games would have purchased this game just because of the gameplay. With the addition of the HOF players, this will attract a lot of people and I wouldn't be surprised if people purchased Madden AND this game.

Ea is sure as hell going to go all out and pursue a title in this genre...All they have to do is install their horrible madden engine on a legends game and have Deion Saunders or Emmit endorse it and BOOOOM....2k did a good thing but they sure as hell missed some very key legends or retirees...Very few people who watched the legend era of football dont play videogames...Focus more on the new retirees of potential hall of famers.

What you want to take into consideration is how much they have to pay the Nfl just to use that license. All that money is now free and that is probably why they were able to snag so many legends.

Great job 2K, EA will probably try to copy of this idea and make there own game, but it won't compare. As far as Deion Sanders, he will be a created player on my game, and Emmit and Marshall Faulk. 2K actually just have them already on the game as number whatever and we will just edit the names, and have the game where the name is already programmed in the software, so the announcers say them.

There's nothing EA can do about it because there's no license out there for them to snatch to stop 2K sports........and like someone else said, once the word spreads about the hof players in the game it's gonna be on like donkey kong.
We already know Madden is gonna outsell this game, but believe most of those madden players will pick up a copy of APF2K8 just to see what's it's like.

Dont underestimate those EA *******s....They will most likely snag any remaining Legends/popular players to 5 years deals...Ea can afford to pay them 20 times us much for exclusives....They bought the Whole NFL - They could easily sign 20 super star retirees for 1 million a piece?...
We need to support 2k more than ever...EA is will be making a legends game next year and they will most likely sign what is left to exclusives.

I am sure once the game hits they will have more than the 240 players announced right now. I am sure that the 240 they have now are under some form of contract...so there isnt really much left for EA to make there own version.
And even if they did I can beta years salary 2ks version will be better!!!
