The greatest and most electrifying player of all time is Barry Sanders and he deserves to be on the cover of this game. He never got the publicity he deserved when he was still playing. Quoting his former teammate Chris Spielman, "people won't realize just how great this guy is until he's gone...then it will be like God was he great!"

Please help support my bid to have Barry on the cover of this great game!

From the looks of things the Cover might be Jerry Rice

"It's great to be back not only 'playing' the game I've loved my entire life, but now I get to compete with and against the best players of all time," said Jerry Rice, the legendary wide receiver and all-time career leader in pass receptions, yards and touchdowns. "2K Sports has a proud legacy of making the best football games and this one is no exception. I'm proud to be part of the All-Pro Football 2K8 team."

I am so sick off Jerry Rice. He was lucky and had two great QBs throwing to him most of his career....he makes an *** of himself on Dancing with the Stars...now the cover athlete of this game...the mind as well just use Derek Jeter...

I have to agree, Barry Sanders is a good choice.

I think they should use multiple stars, not just one....better marketing.

HA, dude you gotta rep barry sanders, arguably the best runningback of all time. Emmitt couldn't touch him.

I'm pretty sure Emmit could run up the middle better and take a lot more punishment....but since it is 2007, it is time to put this stupid argument to rest.

Barry, Emmit, Walter, and quite a few other running backs are ALL the best Running Backs of All-Time.Trying to say who is the best is like trying to say who the best guitar player is...there are too many at the top to truly figure it out.

Jerry Rice is going to be on the cover? Huh?

You'd think with Elway signed up, they'd get the most recognizable face...

Barry was not the best, he was one of the best. Jerry was the best wide out ever, no one even comes close to him.

I dont care who is no the cover, i wont even see the damn thing once the games in my xbox anyways.

You are all wrong, Jim Brown is the best running back to ever run up the middle, and more so the best running back of all time, 2nd place O.J. simpson of USC then Barry Sanders. KNOW your History

barry2053
April 26th, 2007, 01:29 PM
Ahh yes...the Jim Brown arguement. It was really tough for that 6'2" murderer to run up the middle on those 5' little cracker white guys....kinda like 7' Wilt Chamberlain dunking on poor little cracker white guys...

Jim Brown is a definite no because of the era of whitey ball. Heck, I think Gale Sayers was better than Jim Brown.

And kcxiv, you can never have a wide receiver being considered the best player of all-time. They need to rely too much on a good QB to be good. If Rice had Scott Mitchell and Jon Kitna throwing to him his whole career instead of Montana and Young...he would be on "Dancing with the Zero's" instead of Hero's.

Barry all the way!

Are you wearing your Barry Sanders underpants right now? While you sit at your computer staring at your Barry Sanders desktop wallpaper, eating your white Cracker Barrel cheddar cheese off of your Barry Sanders Commemorative plate, before going to the bathroom and splashing a little urine on your Barry Sanders toilet seat warmer because you were distracted imagining how Barry Sanders would be your best friend if he knew how much you idolized him and wanted to be him? And how Barry Sanders would probably buy you a place of your own, if you guys were best friends, and then you could move out of your mom's basement?

Barry, Jerry or Joe on the cover. Any of the three is fine by me.

MorningGlory
April 26th, 2007, 02:07 PM
No. Barry doesn't "need" to be on the cover. I think Natrone Means should. lol. Anyways, there are 240 people to choose from and at least 100 of them "deserve" to be on the cover. I kind of hope it features multiple people or no-one at all. Barry was great but I don't wet my pants to him.
And about the Jim Brown argument, his size is part of what makes him great. Just like Shaq and Chamberlin. You can't blame them for it. That's one of the most ignorant arguments. "They were great coz they were bigger and stronger than everyone." It's like saying Sanders was great because "he was faster and more agile than everyone else." Or, "the people Sanders ran against were all slower than him." And actually, that argument is somewhat valid like Brown's agrument. Coz believe it or not, people/defenses are actually faster than they were when Barry played.
It's those features which makes those people great. Brown wokred his a** off to get in the shape that he was in. I'm not talking about his height. I'm talking about his muscle. And he was agressive as hell. Barry was great too. They were two totally different types of back. It's cliche', but Brown was ahead of his time. It's whatever back you prefer.

And that is my point.
The game changes too much in my opinion to carry such titles.
And those changes do effect game play, ball distribution and style.

I just wish people would understand it.
It is funny how they always assume it has to do with not being a fan of that particular team.

Why not have 3 cover athletes? Something like Barry Sanders , Jerry Rice and Dan Marino standing side by side?

What is with you and the race stuff?
While I'm not one for the "Greatest of all Time" you do need to look at that time period.
Jim Brown was good. Could he have done the same during this era is only assumption.
The same if you reverse Barry Sanders. Another reason is the defensive schemes were different and the play style, play calling, blocking schemes, etc... are two different era's.

So Jerry had to depend on a Good QB to catch the ball. Wow, back to that again.
So if Barry Sanders caught a screen play and raced 80 yds for a TD then it was because of his great QB right?

So who does the QB depend on to catch that pass, TD, race down the field to extend his passing yards?

Give it a rest.
Multiple players would be great and as someone said, once you open the box the cover actually becomes history.
Either way it won't change my decision with buying the game so in reality I don't care if it is Barry, Rice, Montana, Emmitt, Brown, Bradshaw, Stallworth, Lilly, etc...

I am no Emmit Smith fan and I love Barrry Sanders. But the ppl who say Berry Sanders is the Greatest of All time really don't know that much about football. Barry was great but I get tired of ppl saying he's the best just cause he has the most highlights in NFL history. I hear the same arguments all the time "Berry didn't have no line" which is wrong cause if you remember a couple of his lineman went to the pro-bowl a couple times. Somebody had to block for him and the couple years Scott Mitchell(QB) went to the pro-bowl. That statement has always been false. Berry admitted that sometimes he would not run the way the play was diagramed cause he thought he could score every time he got the ball. Another thing is nobody never thought about how all those runs he had for negative yards before he bust out for his 80 plus yard runs. Now I love Berry alot more than Emmit but stats don't lie and Emmit actually does alot more things than Berry(catch the ball out the backfield caught 70 balls one year and blocks). Berry is the sportscenter highlights watching ppl alltime greatest.

The thing no one is addressing is how any of these atheletes will appear on the cover. We are programmed to view the cover athelete in uniform in some sort of action pose. With the NFL agreement not belonging to 2k, how can we show Barry Sanders without a Lions uniform, or Jerry Rice without a Niners uniform. I hope that 2k has another trick up it's sleeve....how to present an attractive cover. BTW, no one wants to see a bunch of old guys standing side by side on the cover either. That would spell disaster by alienating a younger audience.
