I've come to realize that the hatred can not and should not be stopped. You are right though. It's interesting how emotionally invested 360 owners are into their system. I don't know what happened to each their own. I'm glad people have fun on their system, that's what gaming is all about. But the bashing on forums is childish. As much as you want to stop them you can't. Let them be childish and flood the threads all they want. They are entitled to their opinions. It does not effect my opinion that PS3 is a superior console with a brighter future. I try to stay topic related and not stoop to their level.

Did anyone read the article on ign saying that it is harder to make gta4 for the 360 bbecause of limeted technology, but the bluray ps3 is way better

did the 360 have a better launch title than resistance, dont say gears of war because that came out a year later.

And if u realize that the best selling system is the ps2 and there is still support for the system, just wait for the 110million+ that want to update there system

and if you look at the long run, ps3 is 600 dollars with free online, but 360 is 400 or 475 and you have to keep paying to keep on XBL.

Now that is some facts.

But the only reason ive said that is that im a ps3 owner and i truly respect the 360, but all 360 owners do is gripe about the ps3 which most of them have never played. My opinion is they are just mad they cant pay 200 dollars more for the ps3. The 360 is great and has great games great online service, but they judge the ps3 based on less the half a year of being released.

i wonder how many people are going to want to play Final Fantasy, God of War, Grand Turismo and more in next gen??? FPS's and Duck and cover shooters cant sell a system alone for the 360.

Im not attacking the 360, im just trying to make a point that the ps3 has potentiel but 360 owners cant except anything but there own system, i look beyond the ps3 and see the 360 is a great console, and the Wii has unlimited potential.

On the demo side, I've got my hands on DMC4 and it's fantastic. NGS is great too. Warhawks wednesday playing sessions are also great. Warhawk is something that will keep PS3 owners in front of their tvs for a looooooong time. Great multiplayer experience.

Plus, testing Home is a lot of fun :)

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter issued his annual industry report today, and used it to warn investors of what he expects to be a changing console generation model. While he addressed everything from the mobile-gaming market to the profit potential of downloadable content in the 207-page report, Pachter's main point was that the current generation of consoles will stretch on longer than the five-year cycle established by previous generations.

Pachter titled the report "Curb Your Enthusiasm," warning investors that customers are buying into the new systems at a slower rate than expected. But on the positive side, longer console life cycles gives companies more of a chance to turn a substantial profit from their systems before turning around and pouring money into making the next system.

"In our view, the economics of game development and the tremendous capital required to produce the consoles will virtually compel all constituents to milk the next generation for all that it's worth," Pachter wrote.

Pachter singled out Sony as one player looking to take advantage of a longer console cycle. The electronics giant has already said it wants a 10-year lifespan for its systems, and Pachter noted the delayed introduction of the PlayStation 3 and the company's willingness to include a Blu-ray drive in the machine. Pachter noted that Blu-ray might not be a compelling value-adding feature until (and unless) it beats Toshiba's HD-DVD format as the next-gen successor to DVDs.

"We expect the dominant console at the end of the next cycle to be the PS3, primarily due to our assessment that Sony will win the high-definition DVD format war," Pachter said.

However, Pachter doesn't expect that "dominance" to be especially convincing. Through 2011, he projects that the PS3 will have sold 73.7 million units worldwide, edging out the Wii's 72.4 million systems. Pachter has the Xbox 360 finishing third among the consoles with 54 million sold worldwide. But in this round of console wars, there may not be a loser.

"We believe that this is essentially a dead heat," Pachter said, "and each manufacturer will have sufficient market share to generate significant profits."

According to Pachter's projections, the PS3 will sell 32.2 million units in the US through 2011, followed by the Wii with 29.9 million, and the Xbox 360 with 26.8 million. That represents the first six years in which the PS3 and Wii were sold (seven years in the Xbox 360's case). For comparison's sake, Pachter's figures show that over the first six years during which the PS2 was sold, Sony managed to move 32.1 million systems in the US.

As for Nintendo's hit holiday launch of the Wii, Pachter appears unconvinced as to the system's long-term prospects.

"We believe that the Wii will outsell its competitors by a large margin for at least two years, but have difficulty predicting whether Wii demand will remain strong or will fade thereafter," Pachter said. "We think that Nintendo is likely to tinker with its hardware some time in the foreseeable future, perhaps offering high definition graphics and a Blu-ray drive in a future version of the console. Should it fail to do so, we think that the other two consoles will become far more competitive as prices come down."

On the Xbox 360's upside, Pachter noted that a misstep by the competition could help, but isn't necessary for Microsoft to emerge from this generation better off than it was going in. If the HD-DVD format (which Microsoft has embraced with an external drive for the 360) manages to best Blu-ray, Pachter said it would be a "complete disaster" for Sony, and completely negate the value proposition of the PS3's Blu-ray drive.

"Microsoft can position itself to thrive in either case, and has in large part secured a more dominant position this time around through its decision to launch the Xbox 360 a full year ahead of the PS3 launch," Pachter said

I'm a Sony guy but have to say that they screwed up by not making the Blue-ray an attachment for $200 with a $400 console price that would have been much more enticing.Who wants to pay $25-30 for ONE movie when everybody I know either burns for fractions of that cost or with a Dvr or Dvd recorder and premium channels you still come out much better.I'm buying a next-gen for sure by early July but have to say the 360 elite is looking like the one to get even though I always stood-up for my PS2 when Xbox people would be on the attack.I just can't justify paying that much more for the PS3 unless you,for some reason,put good use to the blue-ray.

This is a joke. You can not possibly say that the 360 or 360 Elite is better than the PS3. For $120 more than the Elite, someone can get a Blu-ray drive, wireless high-speed internet, free online gaming, a processor that's 30-times faster than a PC, backwards compatibility for ESPN NFL2k5, and better games in the future because Blu-ray discs can hold more information than discs played on the 360. AND - after all that - you can pick up a brand new one (with receipt) off of Ebay for $450 like I did. Granted, I may only have a few games to choose from, but at least they're the games I like (NBA2k8 and All-Pro Football 2k8 are all I need).


Sony knows what they are doing. Microsoft doesn't. But, hey, don't take my word for it.

Madden has the same BS marketing tool for PS3 version of their bogus game. XBOX 360 is where true hardcore gamers are. PS3 is for all the JPOP and RPG dorks out there. and for 2K8 well all the true skilled 2K players will be online on XBOX Live. I have a PS3, but I gave it to my little brother. XBOX360 is the future of gaming and thats the bottom line.

but do you consider those games killer apps, plus GRAW 2 is coming to PS3 so they have that also. Ps3 with God of War 3, and the next final fantasy, heavenly sword, and lair will show who fills out every genre of games, and already with motostorm

i would like to get my point across, im not saying the 360 is a bad system, it is a great system wuith an awesome online expirience, im just tired of the 360 people who have no knowledge of the ps3 trying to just bash it and they dont know much about the ps3. The ps3 is a good system and has alot of potential, but people started comparing the ps3 at launch to the current 360 crop at the time.

PS3 offered resistance day 1, and it took 360 a year for Gears of War

now if Halo 3 isnt the greatest game ever, it will bust the 360 which is built soley on halo.

Microsoft has put too much on halo, but the ps3 is based on alot of games.

if gta4 was exclusive, ps3 would win for sure, but lets hope R* gets tired of the less space of the 360 and the sequals in this gen will be exclusive but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

While, i am not going to try to say this system vs that system. One thing i do know is that ps3 is hurting big time. People are stepping down left and right. PRice was just to high.

I know, I included multiplatform as well for a reason. Trying to prove my point which was 360 may have more diverse games than even the ps2 had. Look I'm a grown *** man and I could careless about the 360 or ps3 personally. I'm a consumer and I would buy a ps3 in a heartbeat if it was worth it but IMO it is defiantly not. You said it yourself all those games are on ps3 and 360 but guess what you can get those same games that even play better for as much as 300 dollars cheaper.

all of you keep forgetting that the PS3 has a linux OS. you can get a copy of YELLOW DOG for FREE off the net. once you have that installed you have a cross between windows and a mac. and with a 7.8 GHZ PROCESSOR, it is the most powerful pc out.
with it, you can DOWNLOAD torrents, music, watch DIVX or VLC on it, get your email etc. and if you want to go back to playing games, just press a button and its that easy, back to the ps3 OS.
so, for 600 bucks it is VALUE for your money.
im not even talking about HOME or the internet browser that comes right out of the box either.

well, in 3 years if there isnt a good game i will admit its a mistake.
but i love my backward capability so that was the main selling point for me.

why would you hope GTA would become exclusive?? I own a 360, I don't care when games are mulitplatform...have fun multiplayer RB6 Vegas when you get it for ps3 I've been having fun with that for a long time now. I would actually like to snipe ps3 owners online from my 360.
Both systems will be strong for years to come, and I want everyone to be able to play all the good games no matter what system. How would you like it if APF was 360 excllusive??? you'd probably start crying about how much you hate 2k, but if it's the other way around you'd be gloating..doesn't make sense.
Just pick a system that you like and is more your style, but don't take a personal stake in it, or becomed defined by it.
PS3 is cool, it'd be nice to have it too, but I can't justify grabbing one. Right now the only game I want that i can't get is Motorstorm, and i hope it stays that way - - and I hope you'll be able to grab most of the xbox titles...btw, you can't compare resistance to Gears, that's just silly...gears is a few notches above it being a crazy AAA title or 'killer ap'

That standpoint is slowly coming to a head, i wouldn't be surprised if companies are already leaning more towards blu ray sooner than everyone thinks.

Games will be much bigger in this next gen than last gen, the main thing developers are gonna need is not the most power from a console or the easiet one to develop for......they're gonna need SPACE on the disk for these games.
