Disclaimer: This thread is about glitches that happen in Madden and 2K. The point is NOT to bash either Madden or 2K as we know that both had their fair share of glitches. We also know that while programming plays a role in glitches, creative losers with nothing better to do than try to exploit every single thing they can are largely responsible for most of the online glitches in both video game franchises. So keep the repsonse nice. If you feel the urge to go Madden vs. 2K, you've missed the point, my friend. Jack Handy said it best:

"I think if you're robbing a bank and your pants fall down, you should laugh, and let the hostages laugh a little too, because come on, man, life is funny."

Hopefully this thread can break up the monotony of all the AP 2K8 speculation posts (positive and negative) a little bit. Enjoy!

Madden's response to 2K's crib cheats like big heads and miniature guys. This is truly hilarious!

A litany of Madden online glitches. The comedy here is a little more subtle, buried in the soundtrack. When you see the guy showing you how to halftime glitch and "You think you've got the perfect plan" comes out through the speakers, how priceless is that?

This is no way to treat an injured player!

I seriously wanted to post some 2K online glitch videos, but I can't find any, so someone on XBox make one up QUICK!

Finally, the poll. When you watch some of these elaborate glitches involving button sequences, I think of games where programmers leave themselves a god-mode code or something like that. The one where you push L1, L2, R1, and R2 hardly seems like an accident. I just want your take on whether you think these glitches were programmed in on purpose or accidentally. Again I am only talking about button sequence glitches, not ones like punt blocking etc.

What can I say. It was late at night and I was bored. You've got to admit that first video is awesome.

2ksports are hard to find.
One person did post the one with the fumble and the injury.

I posted a Madden07 glitch, but I don't have the link right now where during a FG attempt the kicker kept doing his setup steps instead of kicking the ball. It was like he was stuck in a loop and the players eventually broke through, but it should not have taken that long for them to break through the line now that I think of it and makes me wonder what is really behind some of the supposed AI blocking of Madden.

Most of the glitches such as time clocks and issues that come up because of the clock could be handled with better game design and logic that doesn't treat it as JUST a clock.
A good CRC session would be able to close out these issues BEFORE coding begins.
Programmers can make better and more complete object models using this or UML diagrams. But I guess game coding doesn't utilize these techniques.

Also, some of these issues can also be resolved by better testing, testing parameters or a more serious approach to isssues testers bring up.

The Jump ball crap in Madden has been awful for years. Your WR is covered by 5 DB's... yet he magically jumps and comes down with the reception 80% of the time over the defenders. That's GARBAGE AI right there. At least 2K is pretty realistic.

Here was the FG Glitch.

Notice how the players just keep jumping at the line of scrimmage.
With all that time someone would have broken through the line.
This should make everyone question the logic behind kicking FG's
Is this AI? Or is this just a FAKE preset animation by EA?

Oh this brings up another issue that BOTH need to work on.
Sometimes the Instant Replay doesn't start from the beginning of the play.

I made a blog like this last year . . . .

It's all Madden stuff, though.

Oooo.... I was looking at the FG play you had and I think it proves the point.
Much of what we see up front is a group animation rather than a seperately controlled animation for each player.

That ball was hiked, hit the back of the defender and sat on the ground and no change with the holders action or the kickers action.

Despite all that the kicker goes through the motion of kicking without touching the ball and the logic propels the ball into the air as if it were really kicked.

That is poor programming... very poor.

I agree, this is why I never liked Madden really; there always seemed to be few possible outcomes for every situation. Alway predetermined, made the game seem so unrewarding & predictable.

Wow! It looks like the votes are about half and half, which leads me to the logical question: if the programmers did put "drop glitches" into the game, why?
