Legacy of Coach Cole Upshaw

At the ripe old age of 25 Coach Upshaw was hired today by The United States Naval Academy. Last year Coach Upshaw was an assitant under Coach Rick Stansbury at Mississippi State. Coach Upshaw is hopeing that he can turn this Navy program into a perinial powerhouse in a couple years.

Breaking News: Coach Upshaw says there will not be any recruits signed this year because of having no scholarships available

Coach Upshaws' first game of the season will come against Loyola College in the 2k Sports College Hoops Classic in Madison Square Garden.

At halftime of their first game the MidShipmen got 14 points on the fast break, got 8 points from their bench, and got 36 points in the paint. Leading scorer at the half is Lennox Vukusic with 13 points. The leading rebounder is Edgar Alpay with 8 rebounds. And the score is Navy-49 Loyola-31. And the player of the half is Lennox Vukusic with 13 points 1 rebound 1 ast and 1 steal.

And at the end of the game Navys' leading scorer is Lennox Vukusic with 16 points. Their leading rebounder is Edgar Alpay with 15 rebounds. And the player of the game is Edgar Alpay with 13 points 15rebounds 3 assits!

Coach Upshaw had this to say after the game: " Our guys played a great game tonight! They crashed the boards like they were suppose to and got out in transition. They also ran the plays I drew up great! And we are very greatful to have such a great player such as the player of the game Edgar Alpay who got a double double tonight with 13 points and 15 boards! I had fun tonight and i do not believe that my first game could have gone any better!"

Today Coach Upshaw and his Midshipmen are going to be taken on a decent team from the Big East Conference in St. John's, and this will still be in the 2k sports college hoops classic. Coach Upshaw had this to say before the game, "If we can play just as well as we did in the first game of the season I believe that we could really give these guys a run for their money."

At the end of the first half the score is Navy 47, St. Johns 47. The leading scorer for the Midshipmen is Stephon Turek with 11 points. There is a tie between Stephon Turek and Lennox Vukusic with 3 assits. And there is also a tie between Daren Larson and Edgar Alpay with 4 rebounds each. At halftime Coach Upshaw had this to say, " We did not play a great first half, with 8 turnovers and with missing so many deggum shots. We are going in there and get the guys all pumped up for the second half, and hopefully get out of here with a victory.

Todays leaders were Stephon Turek with 22 points, Stephon Turek with 6 assits, and Edgar Alpay with 8 rebounds. And at the end of the game Coach Upshaw had this to say during his press conference, "We definately did not play as well as we should have, but our guys played hard even though they did not have a day off. We got a lot of our points in transition and in the paint on the second chance points. And the guys are very disappointed in this loss today because the Red Storm were a beat able team! And to blow a 15 point lead with 4:30 left in the game is totally unacceptable!

Today Coach Upshaw and his Midshipmen are taking on the Brown Bears from the Ivy league. Coach Upshaw had this to say before the game, " All I have to say at this time is that our guys better play better than they did in the last game or else there will be ramifications to be paid at practice tomorrow! All I can say after hearing that is WOW!! Good luck to you guys!!!

At halftime of the game the score is Navy 42, Brown 32. The player at the half is Keith Victoriano with 15 points, 0 assits, and 0 rebounds. Navy's team leaders at the half are Keith Victoriano with 15 points, Lennox Vukusic with 4 assits, and Edgar Alpay with 10 rebounds. Coach Upshaw had this to say after the half, "Our guys are playing good out there with having 16 points in transition, and 22 points in the paint. But we should be beating this team by a larger margin right now than we are. We just keep shooting our selves in the foot with all of the miss three point shots!

"In the second half we played absolutely horrible!!!! We could not make a shot if our lives depended on it!! Nor could we stop them on defense!! And as far as I know if you can do neither of those things you WILL NOT win a game!!!" That is what Coach Upshaw had to say after the game, before he stormed out of the room. Navy will be taking on __ in their next game, and I really hope that they can get this turned around.

its still early in the year and your team is just trying to figure out how to play together. Despite having those leads in both games, i don't think you should get too upset and your team is doing fine with the 1-2 record. Good luck though, and hopefully your team can get on track with each other sooner than later.

Today Coach Upshaw took his Navy Midshipmen to the University of Stonybrook to play the Seawolves. And right out of the gate the Midshipmen got out to a 12-0 run and did not look back in the first half. Where the score was 48-33 at the end of the half. It looks like whatever Coach Upshaw said after their last game really got these boys fired up! And then the Midshipmen came out of the locker room after halftime to finish off what they had started as they got on a 15-0 run. And for the leaders of the Midshipmen tonight:A tie between Marqus Koger and Lennox Vukusic had 19 points, Edgar Alpay had 9 rebounds, and Lennox Vukusic had 9 assits. And tonights player of the game is Lennox Vukusic with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assits. Coach Upshaw had this to say after the game, "Our boys played better tonight! They really got out in transition and made those baskets. They also hit more than 50% of their shoots which is better than the 30 somethin percent they had last game. All in all I coached a great game and they played a great game and we are all happy!

NAVY MIDSHIPMEN 06-07 SEASON 2-2

Today Coach Upshaw and his Midshipmen took on University of Maryland Eastern Shore. And after the first ten minutes of the game the Midshipmen were up with a score of 31-17. The Midshipmen really put it to the Eagles in the first half where the score is 55-38. The player of the half is Lennox Vukusic with 28 points, 2 assits, and 2 rebounds. Coach Upshaw had this to say, "The guys are looking really good, and they are really starting to trust each other out there. And I don't think that we could have executed our offense and defense any better."

And to start the second half the Midshipmen came out and did not play as well as they did in the first half, but they still lead by 15 with 14min. left in the game. At the end of the game the leaders for the Midshipmen are: Lennox Vukusic with 32 points, Stephon Turek with 12 assits, and Edgar Alpay with 6 rebounds. And the player of the game is Lennox Vukusic with 32 points, 5 assits, and 3rebounds. Coach Upshaw had this to say after the game, "Our guys played this game pretty darn close to perfect as you can get!!! And I hope that we can keep this momentum going to the next game!"

NAVY MIDSHIPMEN 06-07 SEASON 3-2

Coach Upshaw and his Midshipmen today went to take on the Villanova Wildcats. Coach Upshaw had this to say before the game," I believe if we play like we did in our last game against UMES that we can play any team in the country." And to open the first 6 minutes of the game the Midshipmen got out on a 18-4 run. And at the end of the first half the score is Navy 50 Villanova 40. And the player at the half is Stephon Turek with 24 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assits. Coach Upshaw had this to say at halftime, "I do not think that this half could have gone any better!!! Because we were getting the rebounds on the defensive side, forcing turnovers, gettin the points in the paint, and getting some second chance points. So no I do not think that this could have gone any better!!

To start off the second half the midshipmen gave up 10 points in 3 minutes while only getting 2 points. But its not like they kept turning it over they just could not make a shot if their lives depended on it!!! Coach Upshaw had this to say after the game,"Looks like we got ahead of ourselves at halftime with that statement. (he said jokingly) But you know what if we could have hit a few more shots and had a couple less turnovers we would have given these guys a run for their money. And yes we could have and should have beat them. But you can not win every game!!
