It seems as if were all like kids who wrote letters to Santa then saw Dad asleep in the living room with the suit on.
.....................Bitter

I buy GOOD games, no real brand loyalty here just whatever is good so of course I WAS a Madden fan until aobut 06.

How long ago has it been since you were a fan and if Madden ever gets its act together will you return to being fans?

I played the Madden games up until the first 2k game ever came out. Then it was goodbye to both Madden and Live.

I was a Die hard Madden fan until 9/9/1999. I was a Die hard EA fan until then buying all their sports games. Since they didn't make a Madden game for the Dreamcast I stopped buying their games from that point on. I started spending my hundreds of dollars every year on 2K sports games.

Its ironic how so many people are loyal to EA when they aren't loyal. Nobody gave Madden the time of day not even Nintendo but Sega took a chance on it. When Sega needed EA and Madden the most EA turned their backs on Sega. I guess if it weren't for that and VC leaving EA we wouldn't have 2K. So I take the good with the bad.

Same here, started with the first Madden that came out on the Sega Genesis and played it every year and actually played some online tournaments with the "X-band" service. Bought it every year until I stumbled upon 2K's game that my cousin was playing...of course I was like "what the heck is this? This can't compare to Madden!" I was right, 2K was so much BETTER I switched and stayed with 2k till the NFL "exclusive" deal.

I'll be going with 2k8 this year for certain...Madden highly unlikely but possibly NCAA 08 as I did have fun with NCAA 07.

Loof forward to seeing some of you as opponents in league play!

Ditto. Sort of. I always played Madden. I didn't like Madden 99 but it was the best football game by far, so it was what it was. But when NFL 2K came out everything changed.

I am a fan of football...not the game. I always bought Madden and 2K, but I loved football so much that when there was no more 2K, I bought Madden up until now.

I will still buy both Madden and APF 2K8.

I always owned every football game that was even decent. Hell I even bought those awful QB Club N64 games and those stupid NFL Xtreme games. From 97 through 99 NFL Gameday was my favorite football game. From 2000 through 2001 NFL2K was my favorite. In fact 2k1 might be my all time favorite, pretty close between that one and the current gen Madden 07. I thought the 2k series really started going downhill with 2k2 through 2k4 but I still owned them. Right around 2002 was when Madden really started stepping up to the plate too and it's just gotten better and better. 2005 is the only Madden I have really been disappointed with and that was due to the ridiculously overpowered defenses. 2k5 was better than the last few 2k football games but still paled in comparison to Madden to me. I was looking forward to APF but the screens look like pure dog **** and the price tag is retarded. So yea I have been and still am a Madden fan.

i use to buy madden blindly in fact all of EA's products, until i found out that at the end my pockets was empty and i was stuck with products that didnt even amount to dirt.it was at that time i became a smart consumer and started dealing with games that did not leave me unsatisfied. but we all are human i mean i always thought that with every year, they would catch on but hey i came to reality after madden 07. Then one day i woke up and i found out the true meaning of quality over quanity....

I remember me and my brothers would throw down on some Madden 97 for the original Playstation. I put it in a few months ago and it hurt my eyes. Its amazing what we used to think were state of the art graphics.

I'm not gonna lie. I played madden on and off, but I always felt they were holding back. Like they did with the basketball. They give and take. Fawk EA.

i have been telling people this for yrs that the average 2k fan was a madden fan at one time and noticed they weren't really trying with their games, so they made the switch to 2k. i still play madden off and on cause i can't bash a game until i have some ample time at first.

i stopped buying madden in '99 and have not looked back since. i just wish vc would add some fluff once in a while.

NES/SNES is when Madden ruled..... N64 QB Club took over.... PS1 Gameday took over. It's not about the name on the game (for those that are smart that is) it's about the better more exciting game. Madden has become the EA standard.... push out the same game every year and the following will buy it no matter what. I never did like NBA Live not even on NES or SNES or any system for that matter. The first shootout for the PS1 rocked. There was a kick azz bball game for the SNES... i forget the name but it was as close to current next gen as any game of its time. Double Dribble was the game on the NES by Konami... then NBA Jam hit from Midway. So yeah..... EA sucks and will reap the rewards of buying the NFL license. Only prob... the reward will cost them future market share as we have already seen with NBA 2K7 str8 destroying live and even causing EA to cancel Live 07 for the PS3..... gots to love that! That right there forced EA to lose a ton of $$$$$$$$\market share. Die EA.... DIE!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been playing football games for a loooooong time, since the tabletop X's and O's. When madden came out, liked it but it seemed the same every year. I tried Gameday, QB Club, Sports Talk Football, and many others but I kept going back to madden because of it's depth.

When NFL 2k came out for the Dreamcast, I played it and was amazed by the presentation. After that, I was torn between both games. I loved the graphics and animations of NFL 2k, but I also loved the player edit options and deep franchise of Madden.

If we get two great football games this year, I'm getting both because I'm not getting paid by 2k Sports or EA.

I played Madden religiously until 2004 - either '03 or '04 was the pinacle of the Madden franchise. I bought 2005 and was so disgusted with it I returned it to EB games. This was when I finally decided to give the 2K series a try.

At first, I wasn't awed by 2K5, but then bit by bit I started to realize that it was a masterpiece. Disgusted by the roster updates with gimmicks that each successive Madden game was (I'm certain they're still using the same game engine from the PS1 days), I kept playing 2K5 and utterly loved it.

I have not bought a single other football game since 2K5. To this day, 2K5 is the best football video game ever made. Hopefully, that's about to change.

I stopped playing EA titles, apart from the BIG titles, after playing NBA Live 06. I was stupid enough though, to go out and buy Madden 07 (I know, wtf were you thinking?), and returned it for another game.

After playing NBA 2K6 on 360, everything changed and it was more or less, ****** you EA. It will always be this way untill they lift their game.

Well it's like I said in this thread that I posted on the EA Forums:
http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?threadID=231253&tstart=15

I started playing Madden on Apple when I was little , then I got into it on Sega Genesis. When Dreamcast came out, I was upset that I couldn't play my madden (or live 2000) on the DC. So I got the 'generic' NFL2K which seemed to be the only choice. . .& I was surprised how fun it was, It wasn't as good as Madden, but it was darn fun!, The presentation was unbelievable, you could look at your plays in the controller, you had a great coach cam, & it was the first game I ever played online. Madden was still better . . . . until 2K3 came out . . . .it was so lopsidedly better that it was difficult to go back to playing Madden, it felt like taking a step down. Most of my friends still played it, though. But after Madden 07, at least 60% of them switched over. I saw that thread about the DB flaws in Madden, & all these issues still prevailant in Madden, have been addressed & polished into an art by 2K. I still play Madden every year when it come out, to evaluate it . . . . .

I don't think I'll ever go back, because:

1. They have already shown that their motivation is not quality. . .they'll put out any piece of crap, & use propaganda & lies to sell it. . .

2. Them monopolizing football, totally burned me. Damn you EA, Damn you to hell!!!
