SHUT UP ABOUT MADDEN AND 2K!

Seriusoly, why do you guys continue to compare Madden and 2K? Why is there such a need to do so? I mean, what the hell. If you don't like Madden or 2K, no need to continue to compare them. I am tired of seeing threads about how bad Madden is or why 2k is better than Madden. Nobody is right because it is their opinion.

Yeah, it gets old to me too. I grew up playing Madden from the days of Sega Genesis. So, I respect the franchise because of it. I actually enjoy both games, I am a recent convert to 2K Football you could say, and I am enjoying ESPN NFL 2K5 for the PS3 it does play a lot better than Madden 07. Looks like there will be two great pro football simulations this year.

It is just the nature of people to compare similar products. While both games don't have the NFL license, both have a lot of similarities and people will always compare. ***e/Pepsi, Ford/Chevy, etc.

I beleive that this deep seated hatred is about 3 years ago. Maybe you remember... EA change sports video games forever when they introduced Madden to the world. People fell in love with it... other companies tried to make football games but they all surcumed to the better product which was Madden. Every year you could count on the fact that EA would work HARD to earn your money. I don't think that they were scared of the competition I believe they were really having a good time. This was new and exciting.

By the time a little company named Visual Concepts (who use to design for EA...but was given the creative design handcuffs) came along and along with SEGA released a game call NFL 2K football, EA had begun to believe they were indistructable. They continued to make there game but became less inventive...snubbing any new ideals that Visual Concepts came up with and dismissing them as not even so much as to discover how to implement these new ideals into there game (ie. presentation)

Years continued to pass and Madden made few changes but the gamers were changing (no longer were we happy with the behind the line view...we wanted more...we wanted Sunday style football in our game) 2K had begun given that to us.

Then 2K5 came out and EA had to take a look...because with a bold marketing plan (sellin for $19.99) 2K had more people looking at there product then every before. EA relized that they were loosing ground and instead of working hard to fix the problem...they brought out the NFL and ESPN and in 1 fatal swoop took away the competition (took away our choice) Now if you have ever been in jail or know someone that has the worse thing you can do to a man is take away his choice. Not to sound too religious but that is what set man apart from everything else in this world is free choice...EA took ours...and then after that they gave us junk and said (just like in jail)...eat this slop...follow my rules....you dont have a choice....well the dawn of a new day has come...and despite the challenges 2K has risen and I for one am happy about it.

I don't think people hated Madden (last gen) when it first came out, which was back in 2001 not 2004. It was awesome. The difference was drastic. I was also in love with NFL2k but Madden was a quiet storm...up until 2003 that is. I think the resentment became absolute when the NFL exclusivity was acquired by EA. I know it brought my **** to a boil because I would buy all the football games every year and 2k4-5 were shaking things up, so I figured gridiron gaming would be getting better. The deal put Madden out there to sit pretty while it got old quick. The NCAA series became the forerunner of football gaming in my opinion since Madden has botched back to back years. I'm actually looking forward to this year. I will be purchasing 2k and NCAA of course but I will still be keeping my eye on Madden only because I've spent more years liking them than hating, so eventually, they should be getting it right. ONLINE LEAGUES....ahem.

Why shouldn't we? $59.99 to get spit on is pretty unfair. Games cost some loot these days as well as systems, and if companies like EA can't live up to their hype, and trust me there is an overkill of hype on such a subpar game, then we should take where our hard earned money is spent very very seriously.

I blame all parties involved. But EA is the shadiest of em all, they could have produced and amazing game, we could have seen

-killer presentation
-ESPN license with the addition of chris berman
-More uniform choices FOR FREE
-better game play
-less focus on tourneys, more focus on the gamers fun factor

these are just a few things that weren't delivered, the game just is flat out watered down NFL Experience.

Well reviews for Madden 07 said it was a beacon of light for next gen. Shows how reliable that method is. Renting? Is probably the biggest rip in my opinion. A hot title you can't even find for rent. Then add the cost of rent to the game and you're paying even more for the game. Developers need to just make good games and stop lying.

I had no intention of getting but since he was about to drop close to 600 on a 360 and the add ons and games on my strength I figure the least I could is buy the game. So I traded in some games and got it for 10 bucks. But I would have been royally ticked if I got it on the strength of reviews and then popped it in and played it that first time.

1. If you rent at blockbuster the rental cost goes towards your purchase.
2. Even if you don't have a blockbuster, renting is key for a game if you're unsure about it.
3. Yes developers should make better games and stop lying, but honestly it's a business, and they're not going to say their game sucks. They want to make money.
