EA updated their Madden 08 site today in the producer's blog with a new video that shows their gang tackling system. I didn't get the link, but it is a youtube video under Madden 08 Gang Tackling. I asssume this was a pre-emptive strike at 2KSports. We await 2K's repsonse tonight......

Same music, I have always hated in any game that during practice you are rocking your game uni's, but in Madden Espescially when your got those lil training camp exercises ya sure as hell got practice gear on.....

It looks good.....about time we get gang tackles everywhere!!! This is going to be a good year for true football fans, not because Madden is finally doing something, but because we have a choice!!!


Now where are the dog piles??? My guess is, 2k will have it in their game first, then Madden will get it three years later. I am just basing that off the facts!

Wow...impressive...competition brings out the best...especially when you haven't had comp. it a few years. This will be a good year of football gaming. I look forward to what Madden improvements and APF gameplay.

Sad shame that video...The player models look like shy.t...2k5 models look 50 times better...All the players react the same way like robots after a play is over...And the gangtackling, well if thats what they want to call it...Defenders running into the RB is not gangtackling...And whats up with that lame collusion noise?...Sounded like the players were made of tin cans...

My biggest problem is with how the players all move with no personality...Coupled with the lame commentary and idiotic crowds and u have a refurbished 2004 engine...

i will and do say that it sucks , i absolutely cannot stand those short , stubby player models and the players still move and act like drones. yeah it is an improvement over last year because last year madden sucked **** and this one just sucks , but dont question someone just because they arent impressed with madden tackles that were in 2k 3 years ago [ and better at that ] . ea sports , its still in the lame.

honestly I dont know about anyone else but I played Madden 07 for PS3 and I'm pretty sure a lot of those tackles were already in. I thought it was funny how when LT breaks a tackle they specified that he is an elite player and that it is very rare for it to happen.

I thought Maddens models actually looked fantastic. In that video, they are zoomed out quite a bit because they wanted to show half the field. The game looked pretty incredible to me actually..

If you ask me those were the same canned 2 man tackles with one player either missing the tackle or getting run over. They still exploding on contact with the runner, I can say it looks better this time around but the interaction looks canned to me...Still kinda weak but better than its ever been...The one on one tackles looked nice though with players getting there heads on the right side of the ball & driving thru the ball carrier. gangtackle looks meh

I thought it looked alright. When I saw the old 2K5 I realizeds as usual this was gonna happen and as I thought EA got it really late. Gang tackled since 2K4 (I think) we hopefully can only go up from there.

I don't think anyone should blindly subscribe to either franchise. Sure I shudder to say it, but if Madden turns out a better game this year, I will play Madden. Doubt it'll happen, just for the sheer volume of fixes they would have to address. Each game will have unique features the other will wish they had, but that is the point of competition. The bottom line is the bar has risen for football gaming and we, the gamers, will benefit.
