View Full Version : An idea that you can reject or accept

So I've had this idea in my head for a while (when I saw something like it on the gamefaqs forums about 3 months back, but it never got underway). It's that I would create a team and create players, and basically go through the legacy like that. I would sim it all. It's almost like all the great coaches on this forum become players.

Here's how it'd work:
If you wanted to join, I would create your coach (for example create Coach Dean) as a freshman and put him on the created team (everything could be voted on).
For the created team, we can hold a vote for colors, name, etc. I can create uniforms because well, it's fun and you always want to know what your team looks like. I would post pictures.
So once a roster of probably at least 5 (the others can be random guys from other teams) is assmembled, I would sim the legacy, posting game stats, player backrounds, all that jazz.
I would turn off players leaving early to make sure that no players leave early (so that it can go on for 4 years).

I'll give more details if people actually want to do this. Don't care if ya'll think its stupid, I just have nothing to do in the summer until like mid july (when NCAA and APF come out).

Cool. In case this gets underway, would you like to reserve a position. I guess I'll make a little outline for what to include when creating the player.

Great idea I'd love to join on in.

Name: Erik Berg (prefers number 12 in homage to his favorite player John Stockton)
Position: Point Guard
Hometown: Seattle WA
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 150
Skin color: White (Scandinavian)
Hair style/color: Med (just above eye length) blond
Acessories: none
Key attributes (can get specific and try not to make him too good): Great ball handler who can lay up the ball 99.9% of the time although generally sits back and passes the ball around with great pinpoint no look passes. Great at defense but is a bit weak and also is not a great shot. He can hit them sometimes but isn't a sharp shooter by any means at all. Also his small size makes him bad at low post offense, and defense. He is quite adept at rebounding though due to his aggressive nature. Although his aggressive play can get him in foul trouble sometimes and he has a short fuse at times especially when his team is having trouble. He's very intelligent but isn't very quick and has only average endurence.
Tendencies: Will pass practically all the time but occasionally will take a shot. His tendency is to get assists rather than try and get points although he will sometimes try and run it in to traffic and gets his passes picked off from time to time. Overall he's a point guard much more in the vein of a Stockton than a Payton and can be relied on for defense and assists but not points.

I'd post pictures of the guy if only I knew how to get pictures from my phone to my computer. I tried sending the picture to my email, but that didn't work. I don't have the cord or anything, so does anyone know how to do it?

Name: Michael Gary (don’t have my last name so I have to go with my middle name)
Number: 14 (favorite #, despite never having it for basketball which is weird)
Position: SG, but can play spots 1-3
Hometown: Cincinnati (Nasty Nati), Ohio
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 200 (real height and weight when I went to college my first year)
Skin color: white
Hair style/color: messy, brown
Acessories: none
Key attributes (can get specific and try not to make him too good): Has the best shooting form on team. Best outside shooter on the team. (Only cause I was the best on every team I played on) Very quick first step, but still has top speed to pass defenders on the dribble. Can rebound, but doesn’t get a lot from his height. Has great leaping ability as he usually is top for his team in blocks. Overall a strong defender, a better offensive player who looks more for getting the assists than points. (now how you want to add me in is your thing. Only reason why I said that is cause that is what one of my coaches from high school sent out to schools. Apparently that and the video worked since I didn’t get an offer to walk-on to Duke for the first year since they were out of scholarships that year. Now personally the only thing I care is that I am the best shooter on the team. Everything else you can put in as you seem fit.)
Tendencies: Loves to pull off the assists than scoring since scoring comes easy for him. Does fancy passes all the time, but for him its just a simple pass. Has been the underdog his whole life so he has the emtion and passion to always be fired up for a game. Can dunk, but never does unless he is ****ed off (that is how I tore my ligament is from throwing it down off of a miss shot and a guy undercut me and I fell.) Does all the little things so well all the other things just fall into place.
Other things that I forgot to put in this: At least make our team go above 500 each year we are at the school.

hopefully that is a little better to read than all in bold. sorry didn't look after i posted it.

Ok first things first, since it looks like this legacy WILL get underway (already 3 guys), I think the earlier I introduce names/logos the easier and quicker it'll be through with. So here are some choices for school/team name...
A. 2k Legends (because well we're all from legacies)
B. Something that's an actual city and actual nickname (like Lions or something)
C. Other

Some choices for colors...
A. Blue and white
B. Red and blue
C. Green/blue/maroon and gold
D. Black and white
E. Other

Alright so this post will be edited and updated until the entire roster, or enough people (5) is filled. It's first come first serve, so if you ask for a position first you'll be the starter. Like I said, if/when I get pictures I'll post them up next to the player. For now I'm not going to go into a bio in case this thing doesn't get started like I want it to.

i didn't really want to be that good but its all good chesnutz6. It looks good just wish my clutch could be a lot better than that. If you want you can lower stuff to where i am a 78-80. I really don't need all of that for being a freshman.

But i love it anyways

chestnutz6
June 10th, 2007, 01:06 PM
Yeah I was trying to make everyone a little lower because well they are freshmen. I'll edit your guy later. But shooting really affects players overall rating (more so than like layups or something) so because you're a great shooter your rating is better. Our team should be great though, as we have a Steve Nash passer, a Ray Allen shooter, and a LeBron James slasher/dunker. I'm excited to see who turns out for PF and C.

And vote for colors/name!

Number: 7
Position: PF
Hometown: Hazlet, New Jersey
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 240
Skin color: tan
Hair style/color: fade
Acessories: headband, high socks
Key attributes: more of an offensive player than defensive. Like an Amare Stoulamire. Good close and mid-range shots. bad 3-point shot. average free throw. great rebounder and shot blocker, not the greatest passer. fast runner, keeps up with fast breaks.
Tendencies: shoots and draws fouls. likes to stay inside

here i will help u out bro.

if you want me everyone to be from like 7-79 here is what you could have me.

Overall: 79
Off AWR: 75
Def. AWR: 75
Close: 84
Mid: 85
3’s: 89
Free Throws: 80
Layups: 85
Dunk: 80
ball handing: 79
Passing: 78
Low post off: 65
Low post def: 65
On ball: 70
Blocking: 60
Stealing: 70
Off rebounding: 60
Def rebounding: 60
Speed: 90
Stamina: 91
Durability: 94
Clutch: 82
Confidance: 75
Potential: 90 (A-)

Now if you are trying to get everyone a little lower just tell me and I can edit the stats if u need some help. You are right I don’t need to be the best shooter in the country as a freshman.

if you want i will move to one of those positions vols if you want SG, but only for you though. i would say people who actually have legacies should have a stay if they should be starters and position.

yeah if someone who has a legacy wants to be a starter, i'll be on the bench since i'm new and don't have a legacy.

Some points that I'll answer/comment on (damn I'm gone for a few hours and a lot of people post):

-Agree on the whole if you have a legacy then you should start thing. But I'm going to have the slider for subs to be very high, so everyone gets a chance to play a lot.
-For the coach I was thinking of maybe mixing each one of our own coaches, not sure how I'd do it but yeah. Or we can just have the master coach knox be the coach =D
-I like 2k Legends too. I already have an idea for a logo, and I was almost done making it when my stupid computer crashed.
-For conference I think we should be in a power one, just so when our team gets really good we won't dominate everyone. Usually the most competitive conference is either the Big East, the SEC, or the ACC.
-No you don't have to list your overall rating, I'll do that.
-Cincy (and any others) if you want the overall rating to be more in the range of 70-75 rather than high 70's you can edit the player ratings.

Here are a few uniform options (having the name as 2k Legends) using a different website...

WRONG for both of you. First of all, by style I mean design not colors. Second of all, they're all NCAA teams. But just for kix (love that cereal), I'll give ya the answers in the middle of this post.

Number: 12
Position: C
Hometown: Duham, North Carolina
Height: 7 foot
Weight: 260
Skin color: White
Hair style/color: Prep, brown
Acessories: none
Key attributes (can get specific and try not to make him too good): Great low post scorer, can rebound great because of his size. However he cant handle the ball, play man defense, doesnt have good defensive awareness. Is a decent passer and is decent at offensive awarness, has tons of potential. Good close shooter.
Tendencies: Shoot Close almost all the time, never shoot medium or 3 point, also drives at times.

I'll play anywhere. I used to play every position anyway. was the tallest guy so I got stuck at center and forward, but then again should shoot the 3ball the best too. :-)

Hahaha yeah I'm glad too. I'm thinking about ditching my old legacy and actually playing the games in this one. I don't know it's just a lot more fun playing with a team you're personally attatched too (I'll try not to cry guys :-/). Vols I can put you in at PF so you're starting. Just give me the info and I'll have everyone who I don't have up up by tonight (last day of school helllll yeaaaah). TMAC you should definately get into it, it'd be great if we could assemble a whole roster (unfortunately you'd have to start on the bench)

hello all, i know i missed the last couple of post, but is there a starting spot for me Coach sanders.I played college and Prep high school basketball.

Name:Albert Sanders
Number: 3
Position:High School(PG) College (PG,SG,SF We played alot of small ball in college)
Hometown:Newark,NJ
Height:6'3
Weight:190
Skin color:dark(african american)
haircut:short buzzcut
Accessories:Headband,long socks,tee-shirt
Key attributes:Greta rebounder for a PG, looks to get others into the game,Can create his on shoot,Mid range jumper shooter(20 feet),Can play with back to basket or face up, great on ball defender, and runs the floor with get vision.
Tendencies:Has a problem with forcing it into the bigs on the low block(in high school we went as far as our bigs could carry us.)
Overall:solid player to put the ball in his hands in clutch situations. Will look to get into the lane to shoot free throws.

In high school i was known as the wheel that turned our team.I was the coach on the floor.I made sure all players touched the ball and ensure the stars on the team were happy with how many touches they got.I would love to start for the team and play a role like Scottie Pippen(Point Foward).

Geez, where have I been? All these new ideas and I'm no where to be found. Well, I like this idea and hopefully there is room on the roster for me. I played both high school and college ball.

Name: Jeff Knox (not my real last name)
Number: 33
Position: PG/SG (in both high school and college)
Hometown: Knoxville, TN
Height: 5'6 (I know I'm short, but my shot gave me the liberty of playing the 2)
Weight: 160
Skin color: brown
Haircut: spiked (short and black)
Accessories: short socks
Key Attributes: I'm a scoring point guard, but I'm also a true point. Good court vision and handles. Can create off the dribble and I love to draw the contact and finish in the paint (a la Stephon Marbury). I have a good runner, but I'm an average mid-range shooter. However, I excell at shooting the three with range. Very fast with a big vertical. I can dunk, but I can't do it consistently and ONLY on fast breaks (and that is suspect).
Tendencies: I have the tendency to penetrate the lane and kick it out for the jumper or dump it down low to my big man. My true tendencies are either finishing in the lane or shooting the three. I'm either deep in the paint or outside trying to stop the fast break.

Hmm sorry skar and knox, no spot for you on the roster. ya'll suck.

Naw I'm just kidding, but you guys won't be starting (but like I said, lots of subs). Looks like we have 4 (5 if you count me) guards already, and a lone big man (last time I checked). And our team will be insanely short (a 5'6'' guy and a 5'8'' guy!!!) so it'll be really interesting to see how this thing goes. If everyone has joined (I'll probably wait 'til the end of the night) I'm gonna start this thing up tomorrow.

(And wow I used a lot of parenthesis in that paragraph)

(These are the starters for now, but they are subject to change)
I plan on moving Cincy to center as a 7' footer, and then vols can go anywhere he wants, and knox can back up Berg. Let me know if I'm forgetting someone, I know I am but I'll have everyone else back up by tonight.

And let me know if you guys would rather have players' overall be in the low 70's rather than high 70's, but I figure if we're going to be at least competitive in a power conference (if I sim the games, that is) then our team needs to be pretty good right now.

Notes: I'd say he's a pretty good overall player. I had to tune down a few of the things that you wanted him to have in order to get him in the 70s. I made you a SG instead of PG because we already have two PG and not a SG (because I plan on moving Cincy to center)

Aww, can I play? Can I at least get a redshirt on this team?

Name:DJ Walker (almost my real name)
Number: 33
Position: PF
Hometown:Philadelphia, PA
Height:6'8
Weight:200
Skin color:dark(african american)
haircut:fade
Accessories:short socks, right wrist band
Key attributes: Great shot blocker and rebounder who can guard 4s and 5s in the low block due to great defensive instincts. Smooth passer out of the low post. Decent stroke from mid range and solid FT shooter for a big. Not really an explosive finisher around the bucket, lacks the speed and athleticism on offense to make him a number one scoring option.
Tendencies: Takes high percentage shots, most from in close with back to the basket or facing up from 12-15 feet. Prefers not to attack off the dribble.
Overall: Solid big man who excels as a defender both in man defense and weak side help.
Strong rebounder on both ends, offensive game limited by lack of elite athletic skills.

This actually is a reasonable approximation of my playing career (high school plus some D-III college)

JP Desilos style player, tall but can still run the floor, play the point and shoot the 3. Prouder of defensive exploits than scoring.

Alright so heres the breakdown by position:

PG - 2 (Knox and Berg)
SG - 1 (Sanders)
SF - 1 (Chestnut)
PF - 2 (Walker, Caruano)
C - 3 (Gary, Nash, Kazemba or whatever it is)

So that's a total of 8 (if I'm not too dumb at math), and I still feel like I'm forgetting someone. Oh well. Starting lineup will be Berg, Sanders, Chestnutz, Caruano, Gary. If one of the 3 PF wants to move to another position that's fine (Cincy you can move back to SG)

Notes: I actually had to tune some of the stats down (clutch, rebounding, blocking, and some others) because he was originally rated 81 with the stats listed above. I still haven't decided who I'll start at SG, I actually think I'll use Gary because CincyFan did sign up before skarface (don't worry skar, you'll get your share of playing time).

If anyone is unhappy with their number, let me know and I'll change it.

GOOOD NEWS!!! I figured out how to get pictures from my phone onto my computer, so I'll have some pics to go with the players up soon!!!

UPDATED WITH THE ONE, THE ONLY, MICHAEL GARY (CINCYFAN)

Alright, you wanna start? Cause if you play SG you'll start there. If you play SF, well tough luck =D. I'll put ya at SG and you and Sanders can basically have equal time. Okay we need to decide on a conference because I plan on starting this either tonight or tomorrow. I'm pretty sure everyone that's going to join has joined. When I do start this, it'll be in another thread. Pictures will be in that thread not this one, because in that one I'll give bios for each player (trust me, it'll be sweet)

Okay so I did a few things and started the legacy. We have 9 players I believe, which still isn't a full 10 man roster, so we can either wait for another guy or just have a random dude. I started the legacy in the Big East and we actually were preseason ranked #9, which I don't really like. SOOO we can lower the ratings of each player to like lower 70s or just keep them as is. I also need help with who to replace (I replaced providence) and all that.

I say we go in and rock Syracuse's world (not to mention the Hoyas and others).

this is pretty awesome man. I am up for playing with the big dogs in the big east, but i also wouldnt mind playing in something we would dominate like the patriot league... :)

Nah a small conference would be waaaay too easy. Like I said, when I started a legacy just to see how are team looked we were already ranked #9 in the preseason, and I'll ask again, is that okay with everyone? I don't think anyone is going to join, so if someone wants to they can create a second player (probably SF since we only have one of those) so then we have 10, and that can be our roster.
