I've almost given up on this game

A month and a week away from release (supposedly, not even really confirmed) and we, the hard core 2k8 football players are subjected to management mistakes, starting at the top.

No media until last week, and then the SAME video uploaded today.

How much would it have taken management to let the mods know that it was the same video? How much would it have taken to let the mods know when pics/video was going to be released. At least they could have answered a few short quetions, and we wouldn't have been subjected to the "guarantees" and "they better do this" posts.

At least let us know who the mods are that are 2k Sports employees, so we don't have to rag on the volunteers.

I'm done with this forum, and this lame attempt at communication by 2k Sports management. You've become what EA wants you to become.

I'm giving Madden a shot first, and renting APF 2k8. I hope 2k Sports will prove me wrong, but the way they run this forum (with over 140 visitors currently) and their media relations is rediculous, and it starts with upper management.

Take a deep breath man. In 1 month you will be playing the sucessor to one of the best, arguably thee best football game of all time! Granted it will be the longest month of the 3 years. But information will come. The game will come. Soon!

It does start with upper management maybe thats why they are trying some new people. Give them time to implement thier ideas. It doesn't happen overnight.

I would give madden a rent before anything. I play to give it a rent this year. I like to at least judge the game for myself. I rented Madden last year, and i thought it was exactly like the Xbox version of 06 with just a little better graphics. I passed.

Man waiting is tough! I have to laugh at myself it makes me think of when we were kids sneaking into their parents closet to sneak a peak at the Christmas gifts. Couldn't wait...lol

Relax man and be patient, keep one thing in mind that the game is being made by visual concepts, the people that put the game on the dreamcast, playstation, and the xbox. I know this game will be fine, if it was under a new developer I would be worried. I know they are slowly leaking out the details but hey we just have to wait it out. Besides you can't really get a good read on a game from pics and videos, you have to play and trust the people making the game.

Who are you to say management is making mistakes?

I'm sure they have a marketing strategy and everything is falling in line with it right now. In the end we can use sales to determine whether management is really screwing up.

But regardless, I don't care how many copies this game sells. As long as I eventually see it on a shelf i don't really care. I do hope for this game to have success so we can see newer, upgraded versions. But just because I don't have gameplay footage a month before release is no reason for me to say, "hey I'm going to get Madden now because I think 2K management sucks and I don't have enough media".

I agree. Look at madden over the last couple of years. The pics and vids were never an accurate depiction of the game until the true gameplay vids were released. I didn't notice the Steroid packed gorillas until I got madden 06 and put it in my console. The following year, with madden 07, the pics and vids looked decent again. Got it home, samething. Look, 2k5 is by far the best football game made to this day. However I think everybodies opinion will change come mid-July. I still think this game is going to become the standard of future football games.

The video, IMO, was nice. The texturing on the uni's was incredible, and the player models are an accurate depiction of their legendary counterparts. They maybe a little on the thin side, but whoever #95 is on the vid, he was pretty big, so who knows? The run by Payton was very accurate on many levels. The hit on Elway in the endzone was cool, too. I have no doubts this game is going to be good. Keep your faith in 2k. They are setting the bar when it come to sports video games. The NBA and MLB games are great games, I don't think this one will be sub-par.
