View Full Version : OKAY -Comment on the Vid now that you've seen in HD(the official VID)

I have to say that seeing it in it's full glory make we feel much better - enough so that I plan to pre-order it the next time I hit the store. I know you're like but it's the SAME video, but as I've said before gentlefolks it's all in the details.

While the player models seem a bit slim - yes (i'm going to ignore that detail) The animation work and the actual texture work is TIGHT. You can see the material of these unis - Excuse me sir, is that Egyptian cotton? And the way it moves is just tight.

But that's not all, now I can see the details in the stadiums and wow those things have major detail. People have complained about the field texturing, but in the official vid you can see that the texture is sweet. Just thought I'd add that in.

The game is delivering the boom - I played Madden on the 360 last night and I just can't say I enjoyed all the misplays and misblocks and just plain goodfyness - Come on a spin move that the defender falls down yet you've been magically attached to his head and cannot get by him so he gets up and tackles you - screw that.

I may buy 2 of these bad boys just cause.

Yet another thread on this subject? There are a dozen already.

Bottomline: I went from sure-buy to wait-until-the reviews-are-out with that video. It looked like a poor attempt at a Madden trailer, and god knows why 2K is trying to emulate Madden. And BTW the player models didn't look 'a bit slim', they looked terrible. If the game tanks, I'll simply keep playing NFL 2K5 - no loss.

I feel you, your opinion is valued here. Comparing it to Madden is a bit much, but I feel you.

Don't get me wrong: I would never compare 2K football to that faux-football game EA puts out. What I'm puzzled by is why 2K decided to go with a Madden-copycat trailer: no gameplay camera footage; the constant closeups and hyper-editing; the idiotic music... which BTW has NOTHING to do with a 'Legends' theme or game. Really, 2K's marketing department has got to be the worst in the gaming business.

I'll add that I still believe the game will be worth buying, even though it seems apparent it's not going to be the paradigm leap in sports gaming many were hoping for, and that was probably needed in order for this game to succeed from a sales perspective.

Baandje, don't base your opinion on whether the game is good on reviews. It's always best to try out the game yourself.

I'm bigger on gameplay than looks - anyone remember fever? Graphically it had it all - and looks alot like the way madden looks now - but on last Gen. "But do you remember how it played? it sucked.

the thing that has always seperated 2k for me is that it knows how to put all the elements together. Football is a game of match ups, it's not just about who's on my team - it's also about how I coach my team and in the video game it also how I control my team. What I like about this game is if 2 teams had decent defenses and I play against someone who really knows something about playcalling, we can actually have a real defensive match, were field position is the only way the game is going to be decided, that and mistakes.

A good Safety is not going to gaff on his assignment and allow a Wide out to get past him, especially if it's a double coverage situation. He may make the catch but it likely will not be a touchdown. Plus the best part of this deal is.....

Since the teams are made up, there is no limit to the replay value.

Thanks. What I do is I read user reviews in these forums for a few days, and if I can, I rent first. I've saved myself probably $400 the past year and a half by renting 360 games first, instead of rushing out and buying them.

Just the fact alone there will be another realistic next gen football game out there almost makes me salivate, let alone it being 2K thats making it all work. Its all about the "Competition".
I saw a Madden trailer for 08, and there are a few issues that I already think are going to be a problem. The running back scenes showed the HB break EVERY first tackle attempt, and then needed two more to bring him down. Another one showing the same bs problems last year with the scrambling, Vick running all the way to the right side line, back 10 yrds then all the way to the left and up 80 some yards for a TD. Not 1 defender with enough AI to cut off the field.
Looks like EA's using 2K's old tapping the button to Sprint and hold for Charge config in 08 as well.......too funny b/c EA's fanboys post and continually rant of how that was such an idiotic feature for 2k Football.

Oh ok, sorry. I thought you meant reviews by IGN and Gamespot and stuff.

EDIT:

Look for a review by 2nyce within the first week.

Nice point NikePowered. Please you know EA is still going to have the stupid ohh the guy touched me I should fall down talke animation that has been in the game since ps1. CRAP.

You are right the competition is important because without it, EA is going to keep giving us Half *** games. It's been so insulting over the years with the things they had the gall to leave out in the 'next gen" versions - cheap *******s. They had the audacity to try and sell Jerseys to us - what are we stupid and then to make it even worse the jersey packs only had one alternate per team and there was no way to set the computer to the alterate set - just stupidity.

Please excuses me if I sound annoyed, but I buy alot of games and the only one that I play consistentely are the football ones, so when they release a bad engine I get ****ed.

Yeah, they are bringing all the same gameplay mechanics. That is what the people said at allgames.com when they had a chance to play the game for one half.

No way that is true!! If it is there better not be one Ea fan that claims that is a good feature because all the ones I talked to thought it was horrible. I never understood it but it is Ea fans they don't like feeling like they are in control. Just let the hold the button and let the A.I do the work.

You know they added the qb evade for Ncaa this year also, right?!

The Show 07 for the PS3, last month. They released several trailers, all of which included a combination of the closeup shots and actual gameplay footage taken from the gameplay camera perspective.

You might want to either check your facts or check the attitude at the door, one or the other.

i'm hoping it runs smooth online and fixes all of the known issues in 2K5 (corner lobs, RB's bouncing off dudes left and right, peeps that run str8 to the sideline with the HB.....) just hope they fix most of those issues but I'm sure they will make new ones too.

I dont think there's a whole lot to panic about just yet. I think there will be much more to the game than what was shown in the trailer. WE have to remember that 2k isnt gonna spill all of the beans in one little trailer. They've never been this "go hard with marketing" type of company because they believe that the quality of their games will speak for itself. They didnt do big advertising with 2k5, but look at how much pressure that game put on EA with pricing, presentation, and gameplay!!! I expect 2k to handle things the same way with this game and let the quality of the game carry it rather than hundreds of commercials. Other than that, there's nothing left to do but wait and see what happens.

The net code for the 2k series was good and stable, so id it's that code the onnline should run like a charm.

That hasn't been done in a very long time. I've noticed in the past 2-3 years, commercials & trailers for video games just don't show much or any actual game footage these days. I didn't really expect actual game footage just because its so practical now.
