Come on now people. Take a step back and consider some things about this game before you damn everything that 2K is doing.
First, the game is built on a 3 year old game engine. It's an engine that many claim to be the best football game ever and to this day, better than Madden. Now consider that they have taken that game engine and polished the textures, added animation, tweaked physics and worked over the AI and you simply have an even better game engine than before. The animations seen in the video are SMOOTH. The game appears to run like butter and the little bit of jerkyness seen in 2K5 is gone.
Yes, the players may still look a little thin, but it's either thin players or players that look like they are juiced up on steriods if you opt for the other football offering on the market. If so many of you are still playing 2K5 to this day, why complain about thin players. You've been playing with them for 2 1/2 years.
The graphics may not be a quantum leap forward towards photorealism, but the animations are solid, the textures are solid, the stadiums and fans look great and I'm sure the sound and presentation will be up to par with all their games.
Secondly, let 2K market the game however they want. Outside of this forum, I highly doubt that there are people chomping at the bit for information. Any information they let out about the game slowly trickles out and more and more people will see it. How can you say they are not creating a buzz about the game when they have rabid fans on their own site that can't wait for the next bit of information. It doesn't matter if you are excited about the game, or ****ed off at the apparent lack of info about it, you are all buzzing about it. I'd even wager that you have talked to friends about it. Seems like they are doing just fine with marketing. As the game gets closer to release, more information will slowly make its way out. I have no doubt about that.
Lastly, just sit back and relax. The game is basically a month away from the looks of it and then you'll be able to buy it, rent it, steal it, ignore it ... whatever you want. Go play 2K5, do something outside, or do something constructive with your time.
In a month or so, come back and let everyone know how amazing the game is.

But see the thing about it is that usually when a company is pretty silent about a game it usually is a bad thing. Look at MGS4 you have like 30 minutes of pure video available online and you know why because Hideo Kojima is confident enough to show it because the game looks amazing.
I mean plenty can say that they are waiting for e3 to get a buzz going for the mainstream crowd. But what about us diehards? It's been a hard 3 years for 2ksports but its been a hard 3 years for 2k supporters as well. A few of us feel we deserve just a little more. Let us know a release date, let us know they put a working Qb spy in the game, let us know the drop glitch is fixed. Let us know we even f'n exist to you guys.

It is true if you work on something long enough you are going to master it, 2K's old engine+over a thousand animations=you wont see the same animation used over and over i can deal with that, now im not upset 2K isnt using Natural Motion they are sticking to what they know best:thumbsup:

Well understand this that their approach to making is game is to see how much of a fan base they still have ever since the exclusive rights were given to ea. So if you guys are true loyal 2k fans as I am you will get this game and support them no matter what. Because based on the review if this game makes enough money they will create another game that will probably have a different engine something brand new. But we as fans will let them know just like the guy from all games said. Tell 2k you support them but at the same time the next game better have a brand new engine at least natural motion. And as seeing 2k's track record they are not like ea just all about the money. They care about the fans because as you can see with this game they listened to the fans and kept the realism and gameplay we all know and love from 2k5. By the looks of it I saw the gang tackling video of madden and wasnt impressed. The game still looks like it has the same stiff movement and 2k is still ahead as far as gameplay goes. The guys at all games also said ai has been improved alot from db's to defensive lineman covering the qb scramble. So these guys obviously heard our opinions and added the fixes. Also I like the fact that walter payton cannot truck linemen or linebacks like in 2k5. Adds a whole new realism to the game. So if you're a true 2k fan support these guys just like madden players support their garbage. Only differance you will see change in the comming years.

Aliance go to allgames.com and listen. They had a review yesterday I think and all those questions were mostly answered. The defensive linemen cover the scramble well and db's play much better. He even said the passing game was better than madden because its all about timing now. You cant scramble 20 yards back and lob it up cause the db's play much smarter. Sounds very good to me and if they cover the scramble like they claim, I see this game being way more of a simulator then 2k5. More of a chess match rather then cheese.

This is a discussion forum.
The animations are very smooth, yes. And I have no problems with the 2K5 game engine. As for the rest, it is worth discussing. 2K is doing a horrible job of marketing this game. Sure, they’ll market it in whatever way they see fit. But people have been expecting info for months, they’re not getting it, and the game is due out in 4-5 weeks. That’s unheard of in the gaming industry. And it’s ridiculous.
I don’t share your enthusiasm and logic with regards to the rest of game as seen in the trailer. The player models do not have to look like stick people in order not to look like Madden’s steroid freaks. The solution is simple: make the player models look like actual football players and human beings.
As for your graphics comment: you’re understating the obvious. The graphics at this point are a major disappointment and a serious issue with the game. They’re worse than NFL 2K5 on the Xbox. About the only thing 2K could have done to guarantee the game would sell on some level, other than maybe use Natural Motion, would have been to come out with a game that graphically blew every previous game out of the water.
Other than a handful of 2K gamers who are looking for superior game play to Madden, the only way 2K is going to sell this game is to market it to the 90% of gamers who will but whatever ‘looks good’. And this game simply does not look good, period.

This game was most likely at 60-75% done when the trailer was made. I doubt it will look like that when it is done.
Also, who the hell reviews a game when it is 80% done?

Hang on here... People were speculating that the game uses Natural Motion. Then the trailer came out and apparently that's not the case. Then people were speculating that the second trailer would be different than the first one, which it wasn't.
Now you're saying the game was only 60-70% done at that point. According to who? Is this more speculation, or do you have a link to an article on the subject?

superior gameplay, superior graphics, superior presentation. all of which make me comfortable with my purchase of this game. as far as marketing, i think that e3 is going to be that tool of choice. what better way than to have a game praised by the press. word of mouth goes a long way as well. 2k die hards have been answered also. otherwise 2k wouldnt be giving you the choice you havent had the last couple of years. purchase this or purchase that. entirely up to you. i was one of those guys who believed that madden was the end all and be all of football games. i simply borrowed 2k5 from my brother in law. that was all the advertisement i needed. ive said it before, ill say it again. 2k5 in 2k8 clothing is fine with me. im also not going by the reviews of the press on a UNFINISHED game theyve played or havent played. great thread.

2K has made it very clear that this game is for it's already established fan base, so you will not see this game advertised on the TV and all that like past years, this is about loyalty more than anything else. But I think if they can get a good sale amount from us guys who love the 2k engine then maybe they would be more push after launch.
The lack of information is an issue, but I think they are being secretive in order to prevent EA from stealing ideas

Cool,cool..I'll have to listen to it when I get home. I thought I read on the thread about the podcast, that they said the game is very realistic. And they said that is why madden fans would shy away from it. Did I hear correct? And when they said this it seemed like they looked at that as a negative. But that has always been 2k's strength. It is usually more realistic and more complicated.
I have never had anything close to the games I have had with the great sim players of xbox live(quick forget the games that you blew me out =D). It was like a real game. Whereas in Madden it was about who had the most money plays.

Exactly. Everyone keeps saying 2K should give more info because they are loyal fans. What more do you need? 2K went out and signed individual players (a real pain in the butt) so that they could create a game that they knew fans of 2K5 would appreciate.
Those players who have faith in them to put out a good game will jump on board day one and purchase the game. E3 will make it's way out to many more people and that is still a month ahead of when Madden is set to launch. If they get awesome press there, that is all the press they will need.
I keep reading people saying that the graphics are worse than 2K5. Are you kidding me? Do you honestly think that they would take a game and make the graphics worse? They will be at least on par with 2K5, but in HD. When you are actually playing the game and not watching replays, the animation will blow you away. Does it really matter if you can see every speck of sweat on their face when you zoom in super close in a replay? Look at the textures on the jerseys. Amazing.
The 100 or so (probably less) active posters on this forum are hardly indicative of the real user base that they expect to have.

I'm not worried about the graphics at all. I think it will look like the screen shots of Elway, Rice & Lott meeting at mid field. How thats not next gen I dont know. The player models can use some adjustment but we will be able to do that ourselves. As far as gameplay, we already know its superior the anything EA has produced & I'm talking 2k5. This can only get better IMO.

They will make a game next year because this game will sell reasonably well( if not incredibly) and it rounds out their stable of sports titles, which in turn helps sell their brand.

I agree with most of the posts before me. I am more excited for this game, than any other game in my life.
As for 2k's marketing of the game. The only problem I have with it, is that they are releasing this "highly anticipated" game to the wrong people. I mean come on, AllGames.com, 1up.com, and Spike TV? Where the hell is IGN and Gamespot? I would definitely trust a "Hands-On Preview" that IGN made rather than a half of football, played at 80% at AllGames.com. They should be releasing this elite game to the elite websites so their fans can get a more accurate representation of what the game will play like. Dont get me wrong. I am in no way stating that IGN or Gamespot dont have their flaws. They preview Madden every year and say its amazing and it never is. But nonetheless, I would rather see this game in a more popular, reliable company's hands.
