SIM X-box ESPN NFL football 2005 league sign-ups [Archive]

Even though it's early, I would like to start league sign-ups for the X-box.

RULES

1.May not go for it in own territory, unless down by 17 or more, or down(by however many) and inside the final 2 minutes. No matter what the score, if you are in the other person's territory and it's 4th and inches, or 4th and 1, you may go for it.

2.Absolutely NO blocking fg's or punts

3.(pretty obvious)no turbo contoller

4.No manually spreading linemen out. You may use the spread controll given to you, but no manual spreads.

5.No using linemen at all

That's all I can think of for now. Might be more later. All rules ARE UP FOR DISCUSSION/CHANGE!

SEASON LENGTH

It will be a full 16 game season, still up for discussion

QUARTER LENGTH

I assume yall want 5 minute quarters, but once again, up for discussion

TEAMS

As of right now, all teams are open, but if there are still UNREALISTIC ADVANTAGES next year, some teams may not be allowed

IDEA

Just thought of this, so ONCE AGAIN, open for change. But I was thinking, if it would let you use real schedules, we could play the real games, and start OUR season when the REAL season starts, and play all games like 1-3 days before the real game, get some predictions.

Anyway's sign up saying your team, and if you have any suggestions for the league. Vote yes or no for the "IDEA"

Also nothing is SIM about not being able to block a field goal or punt...Now if the game has a exploit in those areas then I can see putting that rule up..But you gotta play it first

nooooooooooo, bcuz otherwise you got people spreading them out 10 feet and get an automatic sack, like lots of people did last year. Plus you got people coverin Wr's 20 yards back. How bout you think about how MOST people use them b4 u complain.

No thats the only good rule ya have.
3-4 Outside LB that have contain is just like using a DE that’s kicked out. The way the Titans used Kearse or the Patriots used Mcginnest was similar at times. On certain plays the DE has blitz pick up and has to cover people. If someone uses a DE in pass coverage or takes a wide angled pass rush counter it by stepping up into the pocket and not throwing at the zone blitz. Basic football 101. also 5minn quarters will probably be too short.

Also what if Punt Blocking and kick blocking is done real well in ESPN 2005, why disallow it then?

i agree that the no using lineman rule is a little off, i mean if u are going to play everyone then you shouldn't have to implement a rule like that. also in the falcons 3-4 d-lineman drop back in coverage all of the time. well not all of the time but they do it a lot. but anyway i'll take the Falcons.

Hey foosketballin, I'm interested in joining your league with the Titans, but first, I have a few things on my mind.

About the rules,
Let me see if i got it straight, you are not supposed by any mean to control your linemen??? I mean, I see your point about avoiding cheating, but I see no problem in controlling linemen after the snap, it's just regular gameplay to me... so far I can't see any cheating situation there

Let's make it a clean, krap free league.

About league extras

Am I the only person who uses advanced line moves? If people stay in the pocket like they're suppose to then you would never get sacked by someone who does this. You can't hold the ball for 5 seconds at a time. Get rid of the ball in 3 seconds or get sacked.

I agree with 2Xero, I know it's still early, but I think this gotta start formalizing before everyone start looking anywhere else and forget about joining this league or have some people saying someone took their place or something. Let's make a great league.

By the way 2Xero, If this starts getting going, I can help out with some images for the website, banners, titles, etc. I can handle photoshop and that stuff... :idea:

yeah we really gotta get this started early just so its all formal about the rules and everything like we can discuss it in advance and everything and make sure everyone will really stick with it instead of dropping out...and we can pick our teams and stuf....i looked at that website but i think it might be easier if we just had a seperate site....i could use the help on photoshop...i can use it too but help would be good too...i think it'd be cool if we had like a player of the month and crap like that...just to keep it interesting and we can get polls and stuff going...it'd be cool

The only problem I have with already starting an OFFICIAL sign-up league is I have to play everyone b4 hand to make sure they are sim. And the website sounds like a good idea! Defianately do that! Just check wit me occasionally to see if I like your ideas or whatever. I like the idea of adding extras, we could do like an offensive player of the month, at the end of the year we could have an MVP, OOORRR, we could take it the extra mile and have every award a player/team gets in real life. Including end of season awards(like MVP) or weekly awards(like playa of the week) and adding Rookie of the year and stuff...

i don't see why you would have a problem with someone taking control of a lineman, even spreading them....it creates some nice holes for the running game and as far as passing if you sit in the pocket more times than not your linemen will do their job....with that said i still would be interested and i use the cowboys and very well i might add

Im guessing none of you were in the leagues for PS2 last year, the whole thing ran from the Espn Video games site, you had to go in and all the leagues you were in, maximum of 4, were in there, once you went in it had All standings from teh divisions, All the stats, Every stay you could have in real NFL football, and it also had the option for the player running the league to add a short newspaper like colomn about a game or highlight in the season... All very very cool, if anyone else knows what im talking about then help me fill these guys in...

I actually was in a ps2 league last year and know how that works. the reason I like the website idea was too do extra stuff that ISN'T in the league page at espnvideogames.com. so both 8)

whats up fellas this is chip doug, I think this is unbelievable how far we've come with games to be able to play online but for those (which is probaly everyone) who dont know Im from tha A-town and since none of you feel as though they're not good enough to run with I will and bust heads on you, get used to it! It will happen alot. I am all for the sim thats how we play around my way too, but the lineman thing sounds upsurd if someone wants to do that you should move your fullback to block andkill them with the run and they will stop after a few 20 yarders. I'm a gamer, talk a little trash, makes it fun and keeps it competitive but there is always respect it's just for the game but we are always friends afterwards (it can just get really intense at the time.)

I've never heard about the field goal blocking being that effective to where you couldn't kick another thing that sounds kind of crazy but if its a major glitch and can't be stopped Ill live by that rule,

The lineman; I my self every now and again set him out a little farther if I think hes faster and I can get a sack but, that can always be dealt with by a good quarterback stepping up just as soon as I get close and I miss him or hes gets block and buy more time, something that real true gamers learned, I love to play Mid LB, or safety so Its not like I do it all the time, next thing your going to say to me is I cant use the safety because I get too many interceptions, So I think that rule about the lineman means you just didint adjust your game to whom ever you are playing, like a avg. nfl quarterback wouldnt be able to do :wink:

I think all of the others are pretty straight, lets have fun gentleman, I myself love these kind of things

depending on how realistic the game plays this year, I would be in favor for 6-7 min qurters gives a little more strategy to the game, and actually I just seen someone with Atlanta falcons so Ill go with KC chiefs, The ravens, seahawwks, or the colts. (according to availability is the order of my picks)

The only reason I originally made that rule was for people that would use it realistically. I have no problem with people that use them, as long as they use them right. So if yall will use them right, there is no problem with using linemen 8)

I don't agree with you not being able to use your lineman. Because if you see them moving then snap the ball, or just use your audibles if you see the guy lineing up on the outside keep your RB in to block or move your TE over to block the DE. But I like the league. Count on your "O"line to block, your going to get sacked, that's part of the game. I don't like cheating either but everyone can be exploited. The main is you can audible or just snap ball!!

One more question. Is VC going to make so that we can start leagues like XSN or do we have to get track?

hey this sounds hot, and im def down for it. I preordered the game so ill be ready to go whenever. I looked at your site for the league and I really recommend this site, http://www23.brinkster.com/legacyfootball/Version2/index.asp . I was in that league for Espn NBA 2k4 for the whole season but left cuz I stopped playing the game after the season was done (but they keep restarting season) its a really good league to be designed after I think. THey have weekly recaps, news, awards, stats, etc... After teh season they have a playoffs and then for the next season they let whoever made the playoffs decided whether or not they would like to keep there team or choose another one and then they have a draft with the players who didnt make the playoffs and the ones who did but chose to pick a different team but they have a higher odds of getting a better pick for a team. Neways its a really good league and i think we should design it after them. For this league Ill join in as ne of these teams since they arent listed as taken yet at the league site:

2. seahawks
3. ravens
4. jaguars
5. packers
6. chargers

O yea btw foosketballin a way you can check if ppl are sim or not we can start the league but have a few preseason games, so if tehy arent playing sim in preseason kick em and get a new person to own there team.
