I don't like tapping A either. But it's not a big deal to me.

I like the sprint tap. Did they have an option to turn it off in 2k5?

I've always liked it way better than the hold and pray method. The tapping is more immersive, again giving the user more control. When I break for a td I like to feel that I'm actually running and beating the guy becuase I can hit the button faster. In Madden who determines who is faster? The Cpu! Which is the case with most of Madden's gameplay.

I liked the tapping on running and breaking tackles stuff. It actually really made you feel like the Ball carrier.

I like the A tapping myselft. It gives you a chance to choose to work through a whole or burst through it. You aren't waiting for your speed to build up. When you are trying to hurry they just tap in the right situations. It also gives you a chance to conserve energy.

I personally was always a fan of tapping A. Actually, I absolutely hate playing any other football game without it. Then you could hold down and it would charge up, damn that was awesome compared to any other game I'd ever played. I thought tapping A was cool, but I'm sure APF2k8 is going to have some kind of trigger method for running, but I really hope they stick with the A tapping. It makes you feel more in the game when your thumb speed controls how fast your guy goes. When you're outrunning Devin Hester with Thomas Jones, it may seem a little unreal, but at least you can say you did it, not the CPU.

True. The control feel like it is all mine.

I think they could be innovative & incorporate the left thumbstick to be sensitive to how hard you push or pull the trigger for speed variety. Like instead of pressing A or X all the time just push that stick forward all the way and its like sprinting, except the player will tire a lil bit...same idea just as A or X taping but slightly different way to use turbo or whutever u wanna call it.

Madden fans are just lazy anyway. If you bust a sweat tapping a button real fast its time to stop playing videogames.

Tapping the speed burst is more realistic because its like you're chopping your legs. If you were ever a runningback or played football you would hear the runningback coach tell the backs to keep their legs moving or chopping. That way it was harding to bring them down and you could end up with extra yards. 2K5 had that feeling down pat. Even if you weren't fast enough to break a long one if someone caught you you also used it to break tackles.

I don't know if some of you remember to Hyper sports and Track and Field games that were out over 20 years ago but those games were very fun. You had to tap the buttons to get your speed or power. Those were the good ol days.

Exaclty thats why Madden got that part right, if you tap super fast with a fat lineman you could catch a rb, thats why this is flawed.

thats false..

I am probably the fastest Sprint tapper(I mean everyone says i use turbo controller so it must be true) And never could i catch a RB with a linemen(Except Freeny, Little, John Abraham) other than that.. nope not true

I like the Tap A button, it makes you feel more in control and feel like you are actually have an effect on the running game.

Madden's style is boring.

I wasn't trying to cause them to have heart attacks lol. Maybe a little walk through the park first and work their way up to the gym.

Lol. Is DallasOwnsNfc serious ? Just because you tap A fast with an O-Lineman doesn't mean they run just as fast as a Runningback. The feature adjusts to the speed. It isn't flawed at all. It worked really well with 2k5 and it will work really well in 2k8. I hate just holding down R. It's so broing. In 2k, I liked the fact that with the RB I tap A as fast as I can while my opponent (the guy tackling me) tries to tap A faster in order to bring me down. It makes for a bit more competition. It's yet another nice touch 2k adds to their games. It's called "innovation". Madden is doing some new stuff though this year. It's good to see they're deciding to work this year. But 2k's back....so I guess I'll miss out.

Tapping the sprint button works on so many levels.

The faster you tap, the faster you move, just like moving your legs in a real game. Whoever wants it more, is going to get it. Unless it's an impossible match-up, offensive lineman vs. cornerback.

And then that leaves holding the sprint button to "power up" moves.

Granted, while holding it down your still moving on the screen, (it is a video game after all, it can't be 100% realistic) But the downside is your not running as fast in-order to get ready to pull off some move to get you by the defenders, and then tap the sprint button to get away from everyone else.

Maybe you can compare holding down the sprint button to power up into real life as in "mentally" preparing for a move to beat the next defender.

I like to think of it as an art form. You can be patient at the line, power up, pull off a spin move or something, then when you break a tackle, run like hell from everyone else.

Yes, it DOES look arcade-ish. But it works so well, and it made the running game in 2k5 so much better than Madden "hold down the button and pray to god something good happens."

If you've actually gone outside and played, if you want it more than someone else, you have to move your legs to out-run them. You just can't say in your mind "run fast" and not put forth the effort.

You want those six points? Then earn it.
