All I'm pretty sure of is that it WILL be an ACC team. Whether it's Wake, GT, the Terps, Dook, NC State, or UNC. I'm almost sure it will be one of them.

Why will an ACC team win it all? The ACC is stacked every year but has only won it twice in the last 10 years compared to 3 in the SEC and 3 in the Big East. No doubt about it, the ACC is a GREAT basketball conference.... numbers show, they dont win it every year

Yeah, I could see Wake getting their. MD had a good year and UNC might have a chance with some more depth.

May 31st, 2004, 09:27 AM
UNC, even with Marvin Williams, wont have much depth.

Felton-Thomas(Inexperienced frosh will have to backup Felton)

McCants- Scott

Manuel- Noel(could fit here, but will be coming off a injury riddled season. Will be a junior and hasnt done much when he is healthy)

Jawad Williams- Marvin Williams(Marvin could start over Jawad... Jawad is soft IMO.

May- ???? Who knows. They still dont have a backup center. Maybe Grant can be the backup. Hes a big guy but seems too slow and clumsy.

Bottom line, this team can shoot and score... but still cant play ANY D and dont have much depth. Wake Forest has depth problems down low. If someone gets in foul trouble they are screwed. One big man will make them a much better team. Maryland... I didnt watch much of them last year so I cant comment. I just know they are really young(and they beat Duke..WOOHOO).

i got one team from the ACC

WAKE FOREST

i think they have the the best chance of winning it. With Chris Paul at Point and Justin Gray at SG those are to great players. Chris Paul proved that he was the freshman of the year and also proved that he had the talent to go to the NBA but decided not to. They have a very long and lanky SF in Jamal Levy who looks and plays like Taushaun Prince. At center Eric Williams is a force but he gets in foul trouble way to early in the game. IF they work on their Defense they will be top 5 seed the whole season.

I KNOW WAKE FOREST AND I KNOW COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Pointguard13

I can see Syracuse getting their second champoinship in three years ala New England Patriots. I had GT winning it all last year and they have all of their key players returning from last year. I can see Kentucky getting to the final four but they will be beaten by someone.

i cant see kentucky winning it considering they lost 4 of their 5 starters and they had no depth wat so ever last year. UNC had more depth then kentucky and thats sad.

Read This:

"Let's start at Kentucky, where Randolph Morris will provide shot-blocking ability and presence in the lane. When coach Tubby Smith got the word that Morris was coming to Lexington -- the Wildcats beat out Georgia Tech for his services -- he had to have a big smile on his face. A McDonald's All-American, Morris is just what the doctor ordered.

Morris comes in with an outstanding group of newcomers, including Joe Crawford, Rajon Rondo, Ramel Bradley and transfer Patrick Sparks. Smith will reload after losing the likes of Cliff Hawkins, Gerald Fitch, Erik Daniels and Antowain Barbour."-ESPN.com

yeah ive heard Marvin Williams is gonna be true...i hope he can do what JR Smith woulda done if he decided to go to College...we will see....but of course my pick is UNC...we finally have the experience we need to win it all 8)

Raymond Felton is suspended the 1st game @ Santa Clara....this is kinda worrying me cause its not in Chapel Hill and Felton is of course a major part of the heelz...even though we face a horrible team UNC shouldnt take it lightly :?

UMD Terps again baby.

John Gilchrist-Top 3 UMD PG of all time. He can pass, score, and is a great leader.
D.J. Strawberry-The next Ron Artest
Nik Caner-Medley--Can literally do it all.

We only lost 1 player, Jameer Smith, who was a good contributor, but really wasn't anything special. All our young players now have another year of experience under their belts. Travis Garrison has a great jumper for a big man. Plus, we have Darryl Strawberry's son, we gotta be good.

What about all those experience laden UNC teams on the late 90s.... what happened there? The fact is UNC right now is not a team. They are a bunch of guys who just happen to wear the same uniform but play for the name on the back. "How many points can I have next to my name in tomorrows paper" is all that goes on in that teams head

1. May, Noel, Williams, and Williams all trade places in the PF/C rotation
2. QT is an inexperienced fresh, but he plays BACKUP idiot
3. We play much better D this year
4. We handled yall easily
5. Please tell me the owner of this thread was kidding about Oregon

soccerfreak, last time UNC lost season opener to an unranked team, they won Nat'l Championship, Duke duznt have a prayer, they have no depth, no D and there best player is white (KO) and plays all 40 minutes in every game, and UNC has been dominating since it lost to SC, it beat a top ten with ease recently

Are we watching the same UNC?

Thomas is just bad.... UNC suffers big time when Felton is out.

Noel plays the 3... I have very RARELY seen him play the 4.

Williams is really the only one who can back up Jawad and May.

Scott isnt much of a backup for McCants

You've only seen Thomas play one game, if we're going to make one game generalizations, then Chuck Hayes is bad too. Sure we lost w/o Felton against Santa Clara, but we just plain played awful, not QT's fault

McCants, Manuel, and Noel shift at 3
while May, the two Williams, and Noel all shift at PF/C

Noel plays the PF alot, he was our starting center during the 8-20 season.
McCants is a 3 guard at our school, he starts at 2 cuz we have no 2 guard.

Scott is streaky, hes going through a slump right now, hes 13th all time in UNC history in 3 pters made, I'd say thats good backup, wouldnt u?

QT had 1 assist, two turnovers, 1 steal, 1 offensive rebound, and 1 defensive rebound against a top ten team in 9 minutes, thats not bad

Sparks shot 30 percent, went 1-7 on 3's, 5 assits, two TO, 1 steal, 1 rebound, 4 fouls

They had about an even game, QT is already developed enough to know he shouldnt be shooting the ball, sounds like Sparks needs to learn that.

And u said UK has 3 good PG's, well we do too, R-Felt, QT, and Wes. R-felt is great, QT is good, and Wes is alright

After 6 pages, not one...ONE person has said Oklahoma State.

Now I was skeptical myself earlier this year. But they just beat Syracuse IN NEW YORK!

They will probably will be in the top 3 now. They are better than they were last year, and last year they almost made it to the final.

The ACC, like always, will cancel itself out, so unless a team stands up and starting killing people, I would say it could come down to Wake, Illinois, Syracuse, Kansas, and OSU.

But out of all of those teams, Okie. State will be YOUR National Champions*

* statement based on Mike's hopes that it will come true.
