APF2K8 Review Score Predictions (IGN, etc.)

I personally enjoy IGN's reviews and look to them first when reading reviews, I'd like to know what you guys think this game will score based on their normal rating system...

My Educated IGN Predictions:
7.5 -Presentation
8.5 -Graphics
8 -Sound
9 -Gameplay
8 -Lasting Appeal


Presentation: Field pass wont be as impressive as the ESPN presentation (comparing the game to its own kin, it will not measure up this year, however it will add new things we havent seen before hense the avgerage score) 7.5

Graphics: Comparable to Madden, though different. They might ***** at the bright colors, etc. but field pass will show off the detail on players without helmets. We are sure to get some *****ing about how some of the faces may not look like their counter parts hense the score 8.5

Sound: I dont think they will dig these tracks quite as much as they would have liked (i've listened to presumably a good chunk of them). However the sounds in this game should be stellar - Trash Talking, In the Huddle, etc. This score is a solid 8 that could get more...

Gameplay: 2K football has a tradition of excellence in this area, and since its based on the old engine with new animations and features theres no reason that gameplay should score below an 8, I believe it will get a firm 9.

Lasting Appeal: I gaurentee you that the game will loose points here because of a few features missing however it will make up ground with the Legends-Combination Mechanic and hopefully Solid Online play - the only thing about reviewers though Is i've never felt they've rated Online Experiences very well...The score here will be 7-8, I believe it will manage to get an 8

This is because presentation includes replays which will be better than madden since i had 07 and you didin't see touchdowns in replay unless you went to the menu to do it yourself many times. i think it could go as high as 8.5 actually.

2k5 had replays triggered for good blocks, w/ running charts etc. and they will still have those things, I think the presentation will be pitted against NCAA's depending on when they review/and if they have seen both.

graphics, I think they will be too hard on them, it's the first football game of the year - they may compare it to madden 07 though...who knows. This score rarely catches my attention unless it's 9.5 etc. and really worth blowing a horn over. I don't think this game will have a hope of getting more than an 8.0.

Sound in sports games needs to be passable and somewhat immersive, they don't raise the gamming bar for sound or embarass it either. I think most games just get a pass around an 8.0 for sound.

Gameplay I think will get over a nine or a very high eight on IGN. Gamespot has moved to a .5 only style so I'm expecting a 9.

I think this game will be hammered for lasting appeal. Not because it has none...I expect the average purchaser to get over 70hrs w/ this title, and many people much much more. But it will be campared against its own genre which has the highest replay value out of all the genres w/ franchise, superstar stuff etc etc. In its own right 70hrs of gameplay is worth the price, but w/in this genre and the expectations that comes along with that it will get hammered and may even score as low as 6 or 6.5.

Overall 7.8-8.2 I'm guessing from IGN. Gamespot will give it an 8.0 I think. I believe the scores would be higher if it came out AFTER madden, but it would really hurt the sales...I think the gameplay will be superior to all other titles.
IF the game is what I'm expecting I'd probably give it a 8.5-9.5 against a madden 07 of 7.

I agree with most. However, I think presentation may surprise everyone and slip by with 8.5 possibly a 9. The only thing I'm basing this on is past experience with 2k games. Presentation has always been excellent. I've heard the previews about the lack of it, but I have a feeling 2k may give us something more than the reviews show.

The graphics will be at least an 8 or 8.5. I think the screens look great. We really have no other things to base a score on yet.

Sound is hard to judge. The tracks aren't for everyone, but if 2k includes 2k beats, then the ability to personalize music will help.

Lasting appeal may dip below 7. This is the only thing holding it back from an overall score of 9 or better.

This is opinion and speculation only. There is no basis for my post, only personal opinion.

Overall, I think this title will get a 8.5 or 8.75. There are a few things lacking in the game, and that's why overall score won't hit a 9.

Ouch, your lasting appeal prediction is pretty low - dont forget Online Leagues I dont think the competition has that, as well as the Legend Combo mechanic.

I Forgot to post an Overall, Im guessing about an 8-8.5 I dont think it will be able to crack the 9 score mark. I'm sure they want to send a message to 2K that they have got some work to do next year to really impress them.

I personally think that it would get LOWER scores if reviewed AFTER madden, not higher.

And on a side note if this game had Natural Motion, it wouldnt score less than 9.5 ;)

They're gonna crucify this game for the lack of features but will give high ratings for gameplay. Presentation will take a hit because they will compair it to 2k5. No ESPN license will hurt the rating here. Graphics still in the air right now bit I would think it would ger aleast a 8. Lasting appeal only applies to those who play online.

hahah You guys are dreaming. IGN is going to rip this game hard. :( They are in love with Madden and NCAA and when they make the comparison and 2k does not have the depth in terms of modes, graphics are not completely there but passable as next gen IGN is going to **** you guys off hard. They've already gone on record and said that this was the wrong year for 2k to come back with all the improvements to Madden and NCAA.

I went back and read the ign 2K5 review...it almost seems like they were rating it against it's $19.99 price tag. In other words, it was such a value to them that they gave it such a high rating.

I think it deserved it if the game was $50 or $60, but I wonder if their review would have been the same.

My Predictions are based on accounts of gameplay, the trailer, screenshots, and the fact that the game was built on the NFL 2K5 engine....

Okay forget it.... you win go and tell a mod to Lock and Delete my thread, its not like there are more innapropriate threads like dead wrestlers, full madden dicussions, etc.

a prediction is a guess. A guess does not have to be based on many facts. It can be right or be completely off. its nothing official, why do some find that hard to understand. with that said...

i say 7.4- the lack of modes, possible glitches because its been rushed and the fact that its going up against madden.
